When Calls the Heart: When Stars Align (2024)
The best show on television is back!
When Calls the Heart Season 11 is here, and it's already JUST SO GOOD!!!!!!!!
So much change has happened, both good and bad, but it feels just like coming home 😭😭😭 There's a reason why this is one of my comfort shows!!!
Elizabeth & Nathan is finally happening!!! 🙌
Don't get me wrong. I love Lucas, but it's always been clear that he was "destined for a bigger stage," as Aunt Agatha so wisely stated last season. The past two seasons were fun and great, but it's finally time for Elizabeth and Nathan to get together!
Rosemary and Lee are still just the best married couple on television 😭 Their the kind of people young men and women need to aspire to be in their relationships! And Goldie just took her first steps!!! 😱 It feels like she was just born yesterday 😭
OF COURSE MONTAGUE'S THE ONE WHO SHOT LUCAS!!!!! IT COULDN'T BE MORE OBVIOUS!!! *flips all the Mountie desks* WHY ARE NATHAN AND BILL THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN SEE THAT?!?!
I'm so sorry, you're lonely, Faith!!! 😭😭😭 I hate that Fiona left, too! She was one of my favorites 😭 (Well.... they're all my favorite 🙃) But now you've got a little girl to take care of. Next time, be careful what you wish for 🙃
Gowen 😭 I freaking ADORE the arc that he's had over the course of the show! After all he's went through, everything he's done and been forgiven of, now he just wants to lead a quiet life 😭😭😭 If anyone deserves it, you do, man! MY WHOLE FAMILY LOVES YOU, GOWEN!!!!!!
And then there's Mike and Mei 😍😭 I don't ship people often, but this couple I do! THEY'RE JUST THE SWEETEST, MOST WHOLESOME COUPLE EVER!!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭 I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!
🤧🤧🤧
I can't wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for us!
The Little Mermaid (2023)
A Near Perfect Movie
We finally went to go see The Little Mermaid in theaters. I was excited for the movie back when it was announced, but various reveals had me skeptical. My mind quickly changed back to its original position after watching Isabella Iggyfeather's review on YouTube. So, after a couple of weeks of convincing my mom and sister, we finally went to go see it.
I was floored! I can see why they casted Halle Bailey. She was phenomenal as Ariel. Her voice reminded me so much of Jodi Benson. She absolutely killed Part of Your World! Her acting was incredible, especially when she had to rely on expressions only. Melissa McCarthy was the perfect Ursula! I had no idea she could sing, but her performance of Poor Unfortunate Souls was spine chilling. Under the Sea was a feast for the eyes (THEY EVEN HAD A COUPLE MANATEES!). Scuttlebutt was....interesting. It doesn't take away from the movie, and I don't hate it, but it could've been better. I've heard complaints on the CGI, but I thought it was beautifully done, and the score was just icing on the cake. I loved Eric's character, for the most part. He displayed so many traits of true masculinity. He's kind, compassionate, and willing to risk his life for others (c'mon, man! He saved his dog life's while almost losing his own in the process!). Although he was a prince, he didn't act like he was better than anyone else. He wanted to spend time with the sailors. He helped a man move his goats out of the road. He didn't have to, but he did it anyway. My one complaint on the whole movie would be that they had Ariel defeat Ursula instead of Eric. It took away from the most important aspect of masculinity. Protecting. Yeah, he was still brave, but I feel like the change was unnecessary. Other than that, this movie was incredible. It's one I can't wait to watch again. (And Jodi Benson even had a cameo in the market scene!)
The Bad Guys (2022)
Excellent Movie Missing A Bit of Believability
After a year of hearing positive reviews, I finally sat down to watch The Bad Guys.
I'm quite impressed with the animation. Based on the success of Into the SpiderVerse, The Last Wish, and this movie, I can easily see 2D/3D being the future of animation.
I had a couple of issues with the direction. Nothing major, but a couple of characters move weirdly at certain moments that don't necessarily make sense, and there's a brief shot where Wolf's fist takes up most of the screen which seems very odd.
My only other complaint is the set-up of the world. There's barely a shred of believability. It's a world inhabited by anthropomorphic animals and humans, yet the only animals we ever see are the 7 main characters, one kitten, and thousands of guinea pigs. Every supporting and background character is a human, which takes away the believability of their disguises. I mean, Wolf walks through a crowd made up entirely of humans, yet none of them notice that he's one of the infamous Bad Guys, and his only disguise is a thin mustache. If there were any other wolves or animals in the crowd, I'd have no problems, but to have a tall wolf walk through a human crowd and not draw attention is pretty laughable, and not in a good way. It also begs the question of where the other animals are. If a fox gets elected mayor, then there must be plenty of animals roaming the city, or else it would be shocking. But we are given no indication that any other anthropomorphic animals exist. It doesn't necessarily take away from the enjoyment of the film, but I think it's something that should've been discussed in the development.
On the plus side is pretty much everything else.
The casting and voice acting is top-notch. At first, I couldn't see Sam Rockwell fitting Wolf, but within the first twenty minutes, it worked.
The score was good. There's a certain piano note at a spoilerly moment that hit me. It was beautiful and excellently placed.
The plot was pretty solid. The plot twists, for the most part, were unexpected. The humor was good and happened at the right moments.
Overall, this was a decent and well-done movie. A sequel isn't needed, but I would go see it if it was made.
The Wingfeather Saga: The Jewels of Anniera (2023)
No Words!
I'm awestruck at what I just witnessed. There are not enough words in the English language to express my thoughts and feelings on The Wingfeather Saga Season One finale.
My heart was racing fast. My eyes were glued to the screen. I literally sat on the edge of my seat. Just absolutely beautiful!
The pacing, editing, visuals, and score were perfect! And the voice acting! Don't even get me started! Every character feels real and believable. The action was displayed perfectly! Exciting and intense, but not gratuitous. The music was beyond incredible. Especially during the fight scenes.
Episode 6 perfectly capped off the season in every way. The Wingfeather Saga is a roller-coaster ride and Season One was just the ride up the first hill. Season 2 and beyond will take us on the rest of the journey. I cannot wait!
The Wingfeather Saga: Fruit for Zouzab (2023)
Oh My!
Where do I start? My heart is still beating fast and it's been an hour since the episode ended!
The beginning of the episode took a second to get used to since it differs from the book, but it still feels like the same story.
The voice acting continues to be top-notch! The music is beyond incredible.
The fight scenes?! Oh my gosh, they were just perfect! Brilliantly done!
My only complaint would be that it went by too fast! Which I guess is a good thing 😂
The story keeps amping up. The stakes are higher than before. And it's just so good!
I'm so thankful that this show is being made. I cannot wait for the finale!
The Wingfeather Saga: Escape to Peet's Castle (2023)
Best Episode Yet!!
Oh. My. Goodness!!!!!!
My mind is blown! I'm trying to find words about how amazing this episode was 😄
The voice acting is top-notch! Every character feels real.
The animation is gorgeous 😍
The music is *tries to search for a word to properly describe the soundtrack, but comes up short cause no word can accurately portray how beautiful the music is*
The story just keeps getting better and better. It doesn't matter whether or not you've read the books. It's so captivating and engaging that you just get hooked for 30 minutes.
Major props to Kellen Goff. The dude plays 3 completely different characters in this episode! Someone give this man an award!
Thank you Chris, Andrew, and the entire crew for your love, care, and dedication to bringing this phenomenal series to the screen! 👏👏👏👏
My Father's Dragon (2022)
Best movie of 2022
I didn't have any expectations or preconceived notions before watching this movie. I didn't even know that it was based on a children's book until after it was over.
It caught me by surprise and I don't know where to start.
Acting: Ok, I'll start here. The voice acting was incredible. Every actor did an amazing job. The best though was Gaten Matarazzo as Boris. He perfectly played the character.
Animation: How beautiful is this animation? Seriously, can someone please explain to me why this looks a hundred times better than 3D CGI animation? It's absolutely gorgeous! Every shot is beautiful!
Score: Oh my goodness. The score blew me away. Every note. Every instrument. Just *chef's kiss*. I don't normally listen to score outside of a movie, but I'm definitely going to listen to this one.
Boris: Besides Gaten's phenomenal performance of Boris, can we just appreciate how adorable Boris is?! I want a Boris plushie so badly!
Conclusion: My Father's Dragon is without a doubt the best movie of 2022. I know there's a lot of people who disagree, but ignore them. I can't wait to revisit this movie again and again.
The Wingfeather Saga: The Catacombs Below (2022)
Wonderful!
I can't believe how amazing each episode is! Yes, there are mistakes. The squeeblin didn't look right. And yes there are changes. But I can understand the changes. Especially with Sara Cobbler. It is a bit weird about how the jewels come into play, but I trust Chris, Andrew, and Douglas to smooth everything out.
Peet is so hilarious 😂 Tink is great! Leeli's perfect! Janner (non-spoiler review but 😭)
The voice acting continues to be spot-on! The music is phenomenal (as always). The effects and animation are gorgeous! Every frame is dripping with beauty and love.
I cannot wait for episode four!
Scrooge: A Christmas Carol (2022)
Pleasantly Surprised
This is a movie I normally wouldn't have watched. I've never read A Christmas Carol nor seen any adaptation of it before. But an amazing designer, Nicholas Kole, was one of the character art directors and I simply love his work so I decided to watch this movie.
Let me just say I was blown away. The animation is gorgeous. The character designs are top-notch. The story is beautiful, sad, and heart-warming. It was more humorous than I expected which is a great addition to the movie. The music is phenomenal.
My only complaint is the song "I Like Life". It felt out of place and the direction was a bit weird. The song mentions liking to drink wine which doesn't feel right in a kid's movie.
Other than that this film was amazing and I'll gladly watch it again. Now I've got to read the book it's based on.
The Wingfeather Saga: A Mysterious Map (2022)
Seriously? How can it be this good?!
How can a crowd-funded show with a five-million-dollar budget be more beautiful, more emotional, and more heart-warming than any Disney movie?
Yet it's true! There has been great care taken by Chris Wall, Andrew Peterson, Douglas McKelvey, and everyone else involved to adapt these books to the screen.
Is it 100% accurate to the books?
No, it's not. But that's a great thing! It keeps people on the edge of their seats whether or not they've read the books.
There are a few things from book 2 in this episode, but they're there to ground us in the world. To let us see beyond the kids' viewpoint.
I cannot wait for episode 3. There's no show out there like this one. It makes you laugh, cry, and long for more.
The Wingfeather Saga (2022)
WHAT!?!?
I don't have words to describe how I feel! Everything was beautiful! The characters. The background paintings. The props. The Fangs!!!
Andrew Peterson, Chris Wall, Keith Lango, Ron Smith, The Arcadian Wild, Kurt Heinecke, and everyone else involved have done the impossible. They took the best book series ever and translated it wonderfully to the screen.
All the creatures look phenomenal. Bumpy Digtoad, Fazzle Dove, Thwaps, Toothy Cow, and Sea Dragons!! Just amazing!
Every character was perfectly cast. They all sound just as I imagined them to.
I do not have words. I just don't.
And can we just give a round of applause to Kurt and The Arcadian Wild for the beautiful, amazing score?! 👏 👏👏
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Alloyed (2022)
PERFECT!
Oh my gosh!! Why are people hating on this show? I've not been this invested in a TV show in a while. J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay have done a fantastic job showrunning this series.
The Sauron reveal was surprising, yet makes so much sense!
There's so much deep lore that's been just barely on screen. It really makes you feel like this world has thousands of years of history. They've only just scratched the surface. Season 2 will be amazing! They've already confirmed a major canon character and more epic battles!
I honestly cannot believe the hate this show gets. Yes it's not 100% book accurate, but no adaption is. They've fleshed out characters and locations while still keeping that classic Tolkien feel and his themes.
Absolutely cannot wait for Season 2!!!!
I'm Not Ashamed (2016)
My favorite movie!
I absolutely love this movie! Rachel Joy Scott's life is so inspiring. She lived her life for Jesus and she lost her life for Jesus. She wasn't perfect, but she put her faith and trust in a perfect Savior. The movie is well casted and directed. Just amazing! I don't understand why people complain about this movie. It's beautiful, heartbreaking, and inspiring. I want to live my life like Rachel. Completely unashamed of Jesus Christ. Living for Him in life and in death. Masey McLain portrays Rachel beautifully. Just absolutely a beautiful and inspiring movie. I just can't say enough good things about this movie.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Adar (2022)
Fantastic and Family Friendly
Absolutely fantastic! Númenor was glorious! Three name drops that I wasn't expecting. The storyline is gripping. I cannot wait until next week! The casting is really good. Any doubts you may have are thrown out the window once you actually watch the show. Only downside was that two storylines from the second episode weren't in this one, but there's so much here that you don't really notice. I can't wait to see how Míriel and Pharazôn end up where we know they end up based on Tolkien's work. Elendil, Isildur, and Earien. Galadriel and Halbrand. Arondir and Adar (who's he?). Nori, Poppy, and the Stranger. There's so much here and I can't wait to see where it goes. It's a relief that a big name fantasy show is actually family friendly. One curse word and some violence. No sex. No nudity. Just good family friendly fantasy. This is exactly what we need.
