Are We Alone (2024)
Rather Good
Well, from the get go, I enjoyed this documentary film, as it was well narrated and had a good pace, that was fast enough to entertain, but also slow enough to give the brain, time to absorb the facts and also reflect.
I learned some interesting facts, which I did not know before and also had some facts that I already knew re enforced, so all in all, a pretty educational documentary.
The visuals, were rather good and very appropriate to the subject of discussion and I felt the whole thing was well constructed, with a professional editing style. I would recommend to anyone who is interested in this sort of thing.
How the Sicilian Mafia Began (2023)
Not Bad At All
Have to say, this was better than I thought. I am not into the whole gangster thing, nor am I particularly interested in history, but thought I would give it a go and I am glad I did, as I actually really enjoyed it.
What I liked, was that it was not just about violence and murder, but about the whole setup, that created an environment, in which an organisation like the mafia, could rise and become so powerful.
It was well put together, and had a good use of music through out, which helped to transport you to that time and put you in the mind of the Sicilians and turbulent history of their island.
For sure worth a watch.
Al Capone: The Facts About Al Capone (2023)
Enjoyed Enjoyed Enjoyed
Ok, so as I said in the title for this review, I really enjoyed this documentary film.
The main reason, I enjoyed it so much, is that it presents lots of important facts, many of which I did not know, despite having watched loads of documentaries, on Al Capone and the Chicago underworld, at that time.
The music is used well in this and is very well chosen, as it transports you back, to the time of prohibition and Al Capone.
A fascinating documentary, that delivers a good pace, and thorough entertainment, that keeps you gripped till the very end, as you look back on the life, of one of the most famous gangsters, to ever live.
How Zombies Could Happen (2023)
A Very Good Go
From the start, this documentary film, hits you with many great visuals. I particularly like the shot, at the beginning where the door opens, to reveal the zombies, walking toward the door.
This documentary film, is well edited, and shows good use of music through out. It is well put together documentary, that is also very entertaining and factual.
The length is good, as it never drags, at any point and this keeps you interested through out.
This film shows a lot of new facts, about the possible start of zombies and also gives new insight into old facts.
I would recommend this documentary, to anyone who is interested in zombies.
Nuclear War (2022)
A rip rawing documentary, packed with great visuals
Ok, so with what is going on in Ukraine at the moment, this documentary and many like it are even more worth a watch, as you just do not know, if such a situation could escalate into full our Nuclear war.
This documentary flies at a fast pace, and illustrates, all too well, the dangers of full blown nuclear war. It discusses the sides, that countries would be on, and the weapons that they have and there capabilities.
We are also educated, on the history of nuclear weapons and how they work, with reference to the chemistry and the physics of how such a device works.
This documentary is well worth a watch.
Starship Troopers (1997)
Great Fun Film
I have to say, I have watched this film, many times and enjoyed it every time. Is it a sci fi classic?, I think just about yes, though it is not in the same league, as the original star wars movies, it is extremely close.
The effects in the film are great, and have aged very well, considering how bad some fx age over time.
I am not much of a fan of the 2nd Star Ship Troopers, though I know, they had a tiny budget, compared to the first film. The tiny budget in the 2nd film, meant, they had to tell a much smaller story, so a lot of the things that made the first film, such a great adventure, are gone.
For me this is a truly enjoyable sc ifi film.
What Will Destroy the Human Race (2022)
Nice Documentary
I have to say, this is one of the most entertaining documentaries, I have seen, for a while.
From the beginning, it hits you with stunning visuals, that really help to tell, the story of the narrative.
There are many very large concepts in this documentary, and I think it explains them, in a very informative way, that is also very easy to understand.
Some might say, that a documentary, like this is some what depressing, but I would disagree, because there is a also a message of hope, as to what we can do, to save the Human race. This is a message, that world leaders should listen to, in order to save us from extinction.
Star Warrior - Making A Space Adventure (2022)
A Good Suprise
Never heard of Star Warrior - The Legend Of Aciris, so had no interest in watching this documentary.
How ever, having noticed the documentary and becoming curious, I thought I would see what the film is about, and as a result, having ready many things online about it, and the IMDB reviews, I thought I would have to check the actual film out, which I am glad I did, as it turned out to be, an independent gem of a movie.
Its always worth looking for independent films, that have some quality , as they give us something very different from Hollywood.
The only problems is, you have to watch some rubbish to find them. Fortunately Star Warrior - The Legend of Aciris, is quite the find, and because I enjoyed the movie so much, I thought I would watch this making of documentary.
So is Star Warrior - Making A Space Adventure, any good? Yes, it is actually a high quality making of, as it has all the ingredients, of a good making of.
It is informative and factual, it is technical at times, it is funny at times and runs at a feature length. There are many funny stories and it creates drama, as the difficulties in making the film, are elaborated and solved. If you are interested in film making, I would suggest checking it out.
