Dinosaur (2000)
Fantastic film
As a Grandmother to 3 Grandsons I have watched this film countless times but out of a lot of films I endure on repeat, this has to be one of my favourites. I'm a bit partial to a dinosaur and this film has them in abundance. From the start it took my breath away. It's beautifully shot in every scene. Great music score too. I love the characters ,particularly an Iguanodon called Alador. He was misplaced as an egg from his nest and was dropped by a bird on an Island devoid of dinosaurs. He was adopted by a family of Lemurs. Dinosaur has some comedy and is quite scary in parts, particularly the meteor strike and the awful scenes with the Carnotaurus. Alador finally meets his own kind plus many other dinosaurs once he and some of the lemurs manage to escape the Island after the devastating meteor strike. They cross water to a neighbouring Island. Upon arriving on the Island, the remaining Lemurs and Alador join a massive herd , including an elderly Triceratops, Brachiosaurus and a very cute Ankylosaurus whom becomes firm friends with Alador and the Lemurs. He joins them on a treacherous journey to the watering hole with a massive herd lead by another Iguaodon calked Kron who is non too friendly and drives the herd relentlessly. Luckily there is s love interest for him in yhe shape of Meera, sister of the leader, Kron. Alador is courageous and loyal and saves the day. You don't have to be a child to enjoy this wonderful film.
Three Little Birds (2023)
Absolutely loved it.
I just binged watched the whole series of 3 little birds. I loved everything about it. Fantastic acting, All the lead actors were brilliant along with the rest of the cast. Great story following 2 sisters and their friend arriving in Dover then onto the Black Country and one of the sisters to Boreham wood in the hopes of starting an acting career. . They all want a better life as described by the sister's older brother but it doesn't quite match their expectations. Although the story is fictional, it is based on the experiences of Lenny Henry's Mother. The sign on a door in the credits of No Blacks, No Irish and No Dogs is something my Dad told me about when he arrived in London from Dublin in the late 50's. It highlights Wind Rush, racism but also shows friendships formed despite it. This series is funny, emotional and authentic to the era. Great music too. Well done Lenny Henry. I really hope there will be a series 2.
