Barbie (2023)
The HYPE is not real
It was sooo boring, I could have left in the middle of the film and not care less about what was happening to the characters. I love the cast but everything was soo unfunny. I left the movie fealing like I learned nothing knew. The movie is trying to be this inclusive thing but with all the jokes directing into the old steriotypes it contradicted its self the hold time. Margot is beyond beautiful and calling her self ugly in the movie even though she is "The Barbie" isn't so clevver as they think it is, not even with the narrator. I Love Greta but it dosen't feel like her. Kinda like with Wednesday not feeling like a Tim Burton thing. But good job with the marketing, it got me.
Blonde (2022)
"The director definitely had a ambitious idea but no heart"
I see that all the comments say that Ana de Armas gave a spectacular interpretation of Marylin and I can't keep thinking why? I think that Ana is a beautiful woman and she is good at imitating Marylin, but I don't think they didn't give her enough material to say that. She literally just cried, the director was only interested in showing the bad things in Marylin's life. I don't think that Ana played Merylin Monroe well because she portraied her as if she had been an ignorant and stupid woman; And Merylin's personality? How about portraying her real intelligence, tenacity, political savvy, and ambitions. Showing how much she wanted to get out of the "stupid blonde" stereotype, but instead of contradicting this they glorify it more.
The director definitely had a ambitious idea but no heart. If this had been a story of some fictional Hollywood actress inspired by the lives of various actresses, I would have liked the movie much more, but they had to include Merylin Monroe just to have more audience and attention. The only positive thing I give this movie is the cinematography in most of the scenes it looked beautiful (not counting the shots from her vagina, from the toilet when Marylin vomits, the fetus, the sexist shots under her dress and the unreasonable exaggeration of nudity and sex) Merylin was an extremely sensual woman with only her voice and body, there was no need to show her naked in SO MANY scenes to see her "sexy" and the scene of the sperms fertilizing the ovum made me feel as if I was in school again watching a sexual reproduction class. The truth as several critics say, it's a bad movie filmed very beautifully .
