Vikings: Hell (2018)
Another Episode with Script holes
I dont know why, but almost every episode written by the show's owner and creator, Michael Hirst, has some pretty deep flaws. So many things simply doesn't make any sense. For example the fake bastard son of Ragnar Lodthbrok appearing alive and with safe passage to Wessex and to the Viking camp. The bishop that cannot make a decision. The carachters that seems never age, especially Michael Hisrt's daughter Torvi, the gretest mistery of the show. But perhaps the worst flaw of this episode is the fact that the brother of the king conspired against him and them the king arrests only one of his enemies so his mother (another immortal that does not age) can torture him to find the other enemies, even her son knows all of their names. I could go on and on about this episode and how the series started well but them had fallen into some of the problems that all successfull shows have to face: studios and producers pushing for more episodes that lack in quality and end up putting the show in a lower quality standard. What a shame.
Vikings: The Reckoning (2017)
Torvi Immortal!
Great episode, but now is the third time this series does it again: show us one of the main caracthers 100% dead in the battlefield and in the next they are totally fine. One time with Rollo, one with Bjorn and now Torvi. Come on guys, you can do better than this. Except for that great episode with bloody and violent battle (viking style) and some good mlitary strategies. They were right to send some of the weakest carachters (and actors) away, keeping the strongest, again, viking style. But for the next one I sincearly expect to them to fix the ''immortal issue''. May god Odin be with them all.
What If...?: What If... Hela Found the Ten Rings? (2023)
A Problem of Measurements
As it became common, the idea behind this What If episode is very cool. Changing the history that we know and offering a redemption for an evil character is always nice. But another thing that became commom in the making of superhero movies or tv shows is the disrespect for the characters as they were created in the first hand, more specifically the powers attributed to each of them. When you create a God hero (based in real mitology, like the case of Thor and Odin) there are some things that the real fans expect from this character and I believe that is very disrespectfull when you put such a hero to fight with normal humans and witches...and they end up loosing the battle! There are decades of fans that read the comics, searched for the history behind them....and just because it will look cool the writers and producers reduce this god characters to almost nothing. Its a problem of Power Measurement, its a problem of respecting wich character means to that Universe...and I garantee: Odin would never loose to a witch and the Mandarin! They would never see him comming....but Marvel is now Disney...and they know better 🤣
Blue Beetle (2023)
Latin Teenager Ironman
This movie is basically a latin teenager version of The Iron Man. All the elements are there: giant family company that makes weapons, a new found twchnology, an enemy that uses the same tech, etc, etc. Even the clichê half mask after fight is there.
That doesn't make it less fun. Its an ok movie to see with the family, just dont expect a script with great changes or surprises, neather great acting (dispite having Susan Sarandon - I dont know how or why).
There is the debut of brazillian celebrety Bruna Markezine and a lot of new faces.
It sounds like DC tried what was, in a first moment, a great bet to Marvel: to include. The latin-americans are clearly the target here. The problem is hat even this formula is geting tired, evn for Marvel. Just see how badly were SheHulk and the Marvels. And DC been DC, offcourse, they arrived in second place...again.
No Time to Die (2021)
Dissapointing Script!
The movie has almost all the ingredients for a great Bond movie. Beautifull bongirls, ecletic locations, a lot of action and some impressive tech and badguys with scars. That been said it is impossible to ignore the holes in the script, always pointing the story to its end in a very forced way. The badguy innitially has a clear purpose and personnal motivations for his actions, but later on he mentions "buyers" for his weapon, totally putting him out of place. But the worst is the phrase: "I need to finish this". I wont say more about it to not give any spoilers, but it is 100% nonsense! They could and should done a better job!
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Cool, but deserved a better villain!
A lot of things will please even an old time spiderfan like me. The freshness, the concept of the multiverse and the variations on the carachter are all very cool, but I have to say they missed the mark on the badguy department. And I say this not only about this movie but I also say almost everytime some Marvel production uses Wilson Fisk (except for Daredevil, offcourse) as the main villain. Kingpin is only a human, and even been a big and strong one, is unacceptable that he, or anyone like him, can face spiderman in a fist fight. Its just lame script and lack of research and it kinda ruined the movie for me.
Vortex (2022)
Good Mini Series! It Worth the time
Very nice TV show with just 6 episodes that, if you have the time, worth the shot.
It is sci fi but nothing too flashy or exagerated. There is some "new tech" and some time travelling/vortex, something that Im particularly fan of.
The caracthers are well developed and the pace of the show is quite nice too.
Despite I guessed who is the killer (thats something that, unfourtunately, is happing many times with me when Im watching a mistery movie/tv show) the plot is well written.
Furthermore you will find some good actors that composes a diversified cast, some of them well known, even if you are not particularly an expert in french cinema or tv.
FUBAR (2023)
Looks Good, but it is NOT
A good trailer and Arnold Schwarzenegger. You dont need much more than that to catch peoples attention. For sure it caught mine.
A good and funny first episode, with a lot of action and the expected "plot twist". But after that the series sounds like it was made for kids or something. Very bad acting, non sense and terrible script are the main flaws of this show. After the second episode I already had my Schwarzenegger nostalgia attended and got bored. Now Im counting the days for the next episode of a much better spy show: Citadel. Sorry Arnold, you still need to say: "I'll be back", but not for this one!
Black Mirror: Arkangel (2017)
This was a bad one!
I love the show, but this episode was kinda off. Lots of flaws in the scrip, the narrative is a sily one. I think is the first time I see a bad episode in this show.
Even when we deal with sci fi there are some things that are common knowledge or common ground, if you want to call it that way. So its the show responsability to "inform" the viewer if some of those things are different in the "new world" the are presenting us. When they dont we simply guess that a dog is a dog and a tree is a tree (this way I dont give spoilers).
That been said there is a BIG flaw in the likelihood that the show presents us, and that, at least for me, was kind of boring.
