Amatorial trash!
8 November 2023
I started watching this film because the trailer seemed promising. Unfortunately, a few minutes into the movie and you discover a lot of amatorial errors. First of all, the protagonist's wife is about to be killed, they are in a post apocalyptic era, yet she looks as if she had just walked out of a beauty parlor: perfect hairstyle, impeccable makeup and nice clothes. I am pretty sure that in a post apocalyptic age it will be hard to be as nice and fresh like the protagonist's wife and even if they did have some sort of supplies I doubt makeup would be on the list of must have survival items. Same goes for the protagonist and the army man: brand new special squad military outfit. Suppose they got their hands on some brand new military supplies but they still had to walk around and accomplish tasks so why does the military man looks as if he had just put those clothes on - which he probably did for shooting the movie -. The acting reminded me of the plays we did in junior high school in preparation for the winter holidays... After 5 minutes, I couldn't stand it any longer.

Thank you!
17 October 2023
Some of us have no idea how important this documentary is for people like me. We, the weirdos who give up their comfortable life to embrace the unknown. We, the ones who can't stand a minute longer not knowing who we really are and what life is about. Life will teach you lessons no matter what you do and some lessons are so painful that sometimes only death seems the real way out. Ram Dass is not your usual guru, he had a life just like you and I. During his journey of self discovery, he had the courage to explore the effects of lsd on himself and others thus jeopardising his position as a respected psychology professor at Harvard University. I am Italian, born in 1967 in Italy and raised there. The first time I watched this documentary I thought - Ram Dass and Timothy Leary made history with their discoveries, why there's no mention of them in history books? -. I had to learn the names of war-oriented individuals from history books while those who truly made a huge positive impact on humanity by spreading their light and love had been deliberately left out by main stream media and education. Dear Jamie, thank you for opening my eyes and heart to the truth. I have already watched this documentary several times as a reminder that there's more to life that meets the eye. The first time I watched it, I was feeling suicidal due to a sudden illness which has disabled me and the message in the documentary is so powerful that it gave me the courage and faith to keep on living but most importantly: I am not alone!

A jewel for the heart.
11 August 2023
Whatever your favourite genre is, this drama has them all. Although classified as a comedy it is also a thriller, mystery, crime, romance, love, cooking show as well as having an intriguing supernatural background which, just like glue, holds all the pieces together. I love Korean dramas when the quality is as high as this one. The acting is impeccable whether you are in the midst of a tragedy or having a sudden urge to dance. Even the young actors did a spectacular job. The acting is so realistic you will dive completely into "their" reality. The cameramen did a spectacular job in shooting this drama from every possible angle and perspective and the special effects are very well done indeed. I would recommend this drama to everyone but to depressed people in particular because it contains a jewel for the heart : unconditional love!

Forever Young!
30 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I must admit that at first, when I saw that it was a German production, I did not expect much as great sci-fi movies do not usually come from Germany. However, a dear friend of mine was so enthusiastic about it that she kept telling me that this movie is a must watch for sci-fi lovers. I gave it a shot and I am so glad I did. Great plot, outstanding acting, perfect CGI effects, an excellent movie. In addition, the plot revolves around one of the deepest questions ever: what would you do if there were the possibility of being forever young? In human history, both men and women have gone to unbelievable extents just to improve their body image, from body building to plastic surgery. Looking young and attractive has always been a top priority even at the expense of someone's health. There are tons of diets and various pills, creams and the like granting you a perfect shape but what if there was a way to cheat Nature and reverse aging?

Absolutely fantastic!
21 July 2023
Why would any person over 45 enjoy this movie? Because it's deeply inspiring, especially if you have a disability or a chronic disabling illness. I have been severely disabled thanks to an ascetic practice of purification, water fasting, gone awfully wrong. I lost everything not just my health and I often thought about suicide. Some movies are therapeutical but this one was a straight health potion. When doctor Strange lost everything he had including his capacity to move his fingers, he too felt his life was over but miracles happen and one miracle is enough to reignite your faith. Doctor Strange had to literally jump into the mystical world of esoteric practices to discover something more about himself and the world around him. This movie motivated me to explore my inner self to understand that reality is not what it seems and everything is possible if you have enough faith.

Poetic Family Love
21 July 2023
This movie is a cocktail of humor, deep feelings, anxiety, faith, romance and love. The acting of every single character is so convincing that you will instantly get absorbed into the story. The main topic is love, unconditional love. The movie breaks down existing stereotypes to show what really matters in this plane of existence. While money and good looks have always been overwhelmingly advertised in the film industry, here we are presented with two people who could be anyone's family member or neighbour. The couple is special in many different ways, primarily because they have managed to preserve their purity in a world which constantly pushes people to control one another for an hypothetical greater result. But guess what? We are all connected and in critical moments, when things get totally out of control, all we are left with is each other.

A fantasy masterpiece.
2 June 2023
If you love fantasy TV series, look no further. The main character is an unconventional girl who enjoys dressing up like a man, keeps a mysterious scientist in the basement and knows how to fight. Ancient China seems to be the starting location and the time period of the story but there are a few individuals with supernatural powers whose origin are very mysterious. The other protagonists are: a slave bought at the market, an incorruptible official and an aristocratic woman with impressive martial art abilities. The plot is not as linear as you might initially think. Our main characters, each one with a particular story, will have to face all kind of adversities including exploring magical lands and facing powerful supernatural enemies. Once you start watching you'll be instantly hooked. The acting performance is outstanding, great special effect and totally original story.

Poetic, magical fantasy masterpiece!
9 May 2023
This is apparently a classic in Chinese literature thus you can find different interpretation of it and for me, this is the best. Every frame is a painting, every detail has a purpose and every character evolves independently from their origin or alignment. For those of us who play computer games, this drama has it all: adventure, action, mystery, filosophy and romance. Love is the common element for every character's expansion independently from whether they are demon, human or fairy. You will find yourself laughing, crying, upset, joyful, sad, etc... You will basically go through all the emotions throughout the entire drama. The show is impregnated with Taoist Buddhist wisdom and beliefs which renders the drama introspective and profound. Make sure to watch this on a big screen in a dark room because there are many dimensions, colours and landscapes that have the power to totally absorb you into the story. The acting is brilliant, every single character is so convincing that you totally believe them. I'm watching the series for the third time and every time I discover something new. A big applause to all of those involved in the making of this particular version of the classic.

A left over soup!
9 May 2023
In a very conservative setting, two apparently opposite girls fall for each other. The chemistry is over the top but that's about it. I've seen tons of movies with similar stories though most of them have a happy ending. If you are gay and want to get sexually aroused for a few minutes, this movie is for you otherwise just watch something else.

The characters may as well be believable though the acting is OK but not great. The shots are very amatorial and lack momentum, to me it was like watching the videos my father shoot in the 1970s with his soundless camera. There are virtually no transitions between one scene and the others and the story ends abruptly as if the already beggar low budget suddenly got exhausted. My advice to the director and the screenplayer: do your film making homework before releasing a "full movie".

Not Broken (2021)

Nowadays anyone can make a movie... and they do!
21 April 2023
Trash movies used to be about teenagers wanting to have sex with girls who are actually alien or they got lost in the woods where, coincidentally, there's a maniac with a chainsaw wanting to kill everyone. However, for such trashy movies you are prepared from the title so you don't have any expectations. This movie pretends to be a serious one as it deals with sensitive topics but it's trashy since the opening scene. A mum is obsessed with teaching her toddler the school curriculum years before she's supposed to learn it. Not only the mum doesn't give her toddler enough space to play freely but she places her on a tall table and walks off. Next, she hands the child a ceramic cup filled with liquid, while the child is still dangerously sitting on the table and the toddler's hands are too small to grab the cup. Even the toddler herself is smart enough not to take the cup but the mother insists... At this point I stopped watching altogether. Trash disguise as a drama is really too much for me to handle.

Parallels (2022)

Psychological sci fi
31 March 2023
Many sci fi tv series nowadays focus more on action and spectacular CGI rather than content. This is why Parallels brings fresh air to the genre, it's about quantum theory applied to a show. If you understand French, my recommendation is to watch it in the original version though the English dubbed version is good too. After the first few minutes, you understand that this series, though visibly low budget, is about to blow your mind with an inexplicably interesting plot. According to quantum physics, time is simultaneous even if we have the illusion of a linear sequence of events. The characters are very well developed and the main concept of the entire series is about human emotions and how we deal with them. The pace is slow but will get your attention from beginning to the end of each episode as there are many mysteries to be solved. I binge watched the entire series: great job!

Sweet Tooth (2021– )

A sweet fable!
16 March 2023
There are not many stories where humans are the villains and this is one of them. What makes us special is not the way we look but rather, how we relate to one another. A handful of humans, far from prtfect, are here to teach us a lesson or two about connecting with other living beings independently from what they look like. Who are we to judge anyway? No matter what your past is, the only thing that matters is finding the courage to open up your heart again. In this series, an out of control virus has decimated humanity and the few left live without any rules. In this particular situation, according to the series, you get to know yourself. Some people gather in organised militia to restore the lost order before the pandemic. Some might decide to isolate themselves and build their own little fortress. Most people are broken, they have gone through hell but life isn't done with them, healing may be just around the corner for those brave enough to go beyond their beliefs. The little light which guides us through the entire series is a joyful deer boy: an hybrid. He has a pure heart and always acts innocently. He incarnates joy and hope,; indispensable qualities to allow traumatised beings to find a new purpose to their existence and feel love again. This is definitely a modern fable with excellent actors, great sci fi effects and atmosphere. A bit too violent for children but a potent healing potion for the broken. Well done!

Wolf Like Me (2022– )

A profound, healing, comedy
13 March 2023
I started watching this series by chance and got instantly hooked. If you are dealing with trauma, watching this series can definitely help, I even cried! Steve Jobs once said in his most famous speech "Sometimes life is going to hit you in the head with a brick: don't loose faith!". The characters in the story have all been hit in the head with a brick and all it takes to heal is to find someone they can trust to open up their heart to, even if their emotions have been locked down inside themselves for years, unable to relate to one another. Will they make it?

The details in each scene are very important as each character is different and living in their own world. The acting is impeccable, you will soon forget you are watching a TV show and get sucked up into the story. The casting is also perfect because they are not your stereotypical characters but rather actors who can truly identify with the emotions they are playing. The comedy part is there to balance the fragile balance of existence. Metaphorically speaking, like in the ying and yang symbol, two opposite sides of the same medal must be able to dance with each other to generate energy.

Open your Heart
24 February 2023
I bumped into this series by chance and I really didn't know what to expect. It starts slowly as if for many people the tragedy of the plane crash had frozen them in time. But it's just a facade a multilayered one but a facade. A group is formed for the grieves and beneath the surface of every single character, there's an entire world to discover. One one hand a tragedy has ripped people apart and on the other the tragedy has brought together a variety of people that would not have met otherwise. Then we have our miracle boy, the only survival of the plane crash who has to find the strength to carry on with life despite having lost his parents and his hero older brother with whom he was inseparable. Yet, he is not alone: nobody is! This series is a reminder for us all not to take anything for granted because every moment can be your last or someone else's. We get lost in our human drama and suddenly a wake up call happens and we regret not having said or done certain things. We don't know why we are here but every moment counts and every person needs a hug. It's an extremely profound drama which touches a lot of no no buttons. Watch it with an open heart because that's where this series belongs.

Post Apocalyptic Fresh Air
11 February 2023
I play lots of games but I've never played the game this series is based on. I stopped watching zombie movies long ago but when I saw the poster of this particular TV show, I felt compelled to watch it. There are no stereotypical characters and nothing can be taken for granted because everything is unexpected. The acting is great and the environment truly believable, I got completely raptured by the story. Many scenes are deliberately dark, sometimes a bit too dark for me, however the contrast with the scenes where some light manages to get through is evident to underline the fragile balance between fear and love. Great job!

Give us more!
4 February 2023
I started watching the series by chance and quickly got hooked. Well written, brilliant acting and great sense of humour. Death is something we all have to face and the possibility of becoming immortal, for a price, it's a rather tempting option. Even if the episodes can be light hearted stuffed with good jokes, the issues presented are quite deep and existential. However, as you start to get a feel and an understanding of the various aspects of the plot, the series is over! There are way too many questions that needs to be answered and season 2 was just too short. A big hug to Allegra for convincingly yelling at a toilet. Give us more!

War galore!
5 January 2023
As expected, this movie has a great plot, fantastic special effects and highly convincing acting. However, yes there's an however, the fighting scenes take up most of the long film. I would have preferred to learn a bit more about the way of water, it's amazing landscape and the magic of the sea animals who can communicate with the local species including the bipeds. This is the same mistake they made in The Lord of The Rings trilogy. First movie: great! Second and third movie just a blood bath after another. I already know there will be an Avatar 3 but let's hope not the cliché war oriented movie. Surprise us with something unexpected!

Get ready to fly
29 December 2022
As I 54 year old kid, I must admit that I love this movie. We have all gone through the ups and downs of life and sometimes it doesn't seem fair. Matilda is a reminder to every single one of us that blindly obeying rules doesn't save us from a life of misery. The great actor who incarnates the authority is so outrageous and the clever camera shoots so cleverly edited that you will be magically absorbed into the story just like water on a sponge. This film is destined to become a cult because everything is over the top. I hate comparisons but the feel of the movie is just like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Empowering for everyone, I will definitely watch it again!

A sweet therapy for the heart
22 December 2022
Movies have the power to take you to different dimensions: this one has healing effects. It may feel a bit like a fairy tale at first but the more you immerse yourself in the movie dreamlike atmosphere, the more you will feel your heart gradually opening up like a ripe fruit. Make sure not to be disturbed while watching it and let the magic of this film surround you in a warm embrace. A must watch for those who need an injection of hope and faith in their life. The acting is so realistic to make you forget you are watching a movie. There's a psychological aspect in this movie which deals with depression and how we, as humans, often get stuck in trauma though our soul is singing a completely different song. Children will definitely enjoy it but adults and teenagers will love it.

A life saver!
19 November 2022
Just when I kept thinking about how to end my life, this movie magically appeared on the screen. I have been bed ridden for the past three years due to a severely debilitating disease of the central nervous system. The documentary is well researched and the amazing people who survived deadly or so called incurable diseases are people like us. There are many people or families of people, sometimes children, who are dealing with chronic, incurable diseases. In the past, I briefly worked for a pharmaceutical company which was developing drugs for multiple sclerosis patients. While the doctors and scientists were truly focused on finding a cure for the disease, the company main objective was to make big profits to attract investors. I often saw the medical team frustrated because the company was unwilling to invest more money in research and development. Consciousness is responsible for most chronic diseases, now I know. I realized the reason why I got sick in the first place and I am now more aware of my toxic feelings and thought patterns. This documentary, which I have already watched 5 times, gave me hope and reminded me that as I have the power to make myself sick, I also have the power to heal. A must watch for all. I am deeply grateful to all those who contributed to this precious healing documentary.

Do you believe in magic?
17 October 2022
This series is like pure oxygen for the soul. We live in a world of fear despite our attempt to regulate and organise societies to make us feel better but it doesn't work. Nowadays, we suffer from depression and anxiety more than ever because liberation can only come from the soul never the mind. Once there was a song titled It Takes a Fool to Remain Sane; that fool is the magician in the story. When did we loose our innocence? When did we stop believing in magic? Are we trapped in a nightmarish life that we have inherited from our ancestors or is there a secret door to exit the nightmare and enter the magic? The answers are all in this series: watch it!

A masterpiece!
14 October 2022
The characters in this film are very convincing. There's no clear distinction between good and evil nor sanity and insanity. The two protagonists represent the girl next door and the drop out rebel. Love is the real protagonist of this series where mere humans are willing to go beyond themselves to rescue the ones they love. I started watching the first episode by chance and quickly got hooked. I got so immersed in the show that I completely lost track of time and space; the episodes just get better and better. As an over 50 woman I strongly recommend scifi lovers to absolutely watch this! Any of us can easily identify with both girls: one desperately trying to fit in and the other unable to swallow the hypocrisy of an organized life. They remind me of the Tao symbol of ying and yang: they complete each other.
