The Who Incident (2023)
This was a great movie
I just loved this movie.
It's obviously an independent made by friends and family... Ron and Jan are brilliant and make me kind of think, that they may actually be as lovely with each other in real life as they are in the movie.
Some cool unexpected effects, with a very surrealist, what the heck let's go for it feel.
Jan is naturally witty, as is Ron.
It feels like video footage most of the time... the animation is great..I particularly like the stop motion, the CGI is cool too.
Okay, this is not for everybody.. I mean its not super horrifying but it does become nicely creepy, but not all at once.
The final scenes, (no spoilers), are well done with a simple, straightforward and understandable ending that pulls it all together nicely.
Oh yeah.. don't stop watching until after the credits, there's a nice little touch at the very end.
I just liked it, I think that's obvious... normally I'm a hardcore horror fan.. very picky and always looking for plot holes, but with this film, I suggest, just make a nice cup of tea or coffee, grab your favourite snacks and wallow in a little bit of sci fi loveliness.
The Bell Keeper (2023)
Absolutely dreadful
Truly, this is a classic example of terrible American cinematography.
The plot line was appalling, I.e, 'If you ring the bell, (that for some bizarre reason the locals left there, even though they knew its evil history), then you will be cursed and a man with an Axe, (called Hank), is going to come and kill you.'
The acting was quite average, the best of the bunch being the sister searching for her brother, Liam, who unlike his brother was not a complete idiot, but came off as quite a nice person, and the woman from the petrol station (Who played the Nun in the movie of the same name, and the Conjuring).
The scene at the petrol station was actually the high point of the film.
I don't know how the movie ends, and to be honest I never want to, I watched it for about forty minutes, before I switched it off and wrote this review.
My advice to anyone reading this, is to not watch this Movie.
1 star out of 10.
Casablanca (1942)
Brilliant
I absolutely love this film, it was excellent, and I would highly recommend it to friends.
Humphrey Bogart was excellent, like he is in everything.
The wonderful Ingrid Bergman was stunning.
The atmosphere created by the whole film was brilliant, it was like a trip through time, the danger was palpable, when you're watching it, it feels like you've been transported to another world.
A film like this could never be made today, the quality of acting just isn't the same, the camera-work could never be reproduced, and that feeling, (which I mentioned previously), that you're transported to another place in time could only be felt by watching this film.
To finish, this film is fantastic.
