One True Loves (2023)
She wasn't truly in love
If she loved Jessie, she should have returned to him when she found out he was still alive. She may have learned to live without him for several years and felt affection for her best friend, Sam, who had been there for her during her grief, but real love is supposed to be embedded in one's heart despite anything that happens. She may have been able to move on with her life, accepting tragedy, but it's hardly believable that she could choose another man over her one true and first love. In the real world, it's improbable she would choose Sam over Jessie because Sam is only a replacement for a lost soulmate. Therefore, the conclusion is that she wasn't in love with Jesse, as she chose Sam in the end. Also, it would have been more natural if Luke Bracey had his Australian accent in the movie. His American accent here is quite unnatural.
Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong (2015)
There should have been a part two.
If they wanted the movie to end this way, they should have prepared a part two ahead of time. Leaving it hanging like this makes it a disappointment. We are left hanging on what will happen to them and their realization. It's just not complete. There was no resolution to their predicament. The chemistry between the two actors was realistic (if you didn't know they were a real life couple). The acting was quite natural and seemed to flow. It's just a bit too much of a travel movie having only the backdrop of Hong Kong as their set. Overall, it is a nice romantic-comedy film with an unsatisfying ending. The writer could have done better. Movies with endings like this usually are horror and suspense flicks.
A Tale of Two Christmases (2022)
How Did That Happen?
Unfortunately, the scriptwriter needed to have taken the time to explain how the girl could experience two different Christmas scenarios when she missed her flight. The only hint was when a man who looked a lot like Santa told her, "may all her wishes come true." Since she did not wish she had missed her flight, the movie was difficult to understand. Even if you suspend your disbelief in what happened, it is still confusing that the movie shifts from scenario 1 to scenario 2. Too bad Chandler Massey had to be cast in another Christmas movie where he is the unexpected choice. He had already done that in his other Christmas movie, "Next Stop Christmas."
Bros (2022)
Disappointing
I was really hoping this would be a Hallmark Channel-style rom-com except the lovers would be both guys. I agree with the other reviews that one of the lead actors here was too annoying and preachy. Also, a film that's supposed to be groundbreaking and an introduction of gay romance to a mostly straight, mainstream audience is too caught up with LGBT+ issues. A simple story line where 2 characters who are polar opposites fell for each other would have been enough. Netflix's "Single All The Way" is more of a rom-com than this film. Too bad Universal invested in a script that's more apt for an independent film company.
