I really enjoyed it!
2 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
When the ending abruptly came, I was left disappointed because I wanted more. I was enjoying the movie and didn't want it to end!

However, on reflection, the ending was actually really good. Why? Because we didn't need to see more. We know what was happening and what will happen, and true to the title, the girl left 'the world behind' by watching a tv programme that took her into a happier reality than the one she was experiencing.

Yes the film wasn't perfect, far from it, but it was an enjoyable rollercoaster ride with a constant underlying sense of tension.

The fact this could also happen in real life - where wars are centered on knocking out a country's satellites and communication systems - made this film feel even more eerie.

A splendid film.....utterly compelling and engrossing.

My partner and I watched this film last night and both of us were nearly in tears by the end of the film. As a grown man I rarely cry, but this film brought me to the edge.

It is a beautiful story of love, and how love can transform individuals and families. This isn't a happy story by any means, and I finished the film with a pervading sense of sadness, but also gratitude that I got to witness such a wonderful piece of art.

The performances by the three lead actors were amazing. Understated, nuanced, honest and real. The actress who plays the little girl really excelled for her age.

I highly recommend this film if you want to be taken on an engrossing, emotional journey and witness a fine piece of film making.

Mama's Boy (2022)

A beautiful story about family, love and acceptance.

A very touching, moving and inspiring documentary based on the book Mama's Boy by Dustin Lance Black.

I laughed, I cried and I empathized with Dustin and his family. This is a story about fighters, the strong bond of family and the need to be accepted. Everyone can watch this and take something positive away from it.

This is my first review on IMDB and I felt compelled to leave a review on this because, as Dustin Lance Black said, stories are very important and they need to be told as they help to bring people together and build bridges - and God knows we really need to bring people together in this ever divided world.
