The Fosters (2013)
Love, love, love!
I originally thought I wouldn't like this show at all. But I was hooked immediately. I fell in love with all of the cast and what I really liked was they don't dwell in some of the hard stuff for episodes and episodes. You know that happened without them having to show the entire thing happening.
When Stef had her double mastectomy they didn't focus on the surgery, they focused on the emotions that happen after. Which is exactly what I was hoping for. No one wants to talk about after, only before or during the surgery. It's as if everyone forgets the after part and how people try to deal with the emotions.
Watching Callie and Brandon try to really get a grip on their relationship was so heartbreaking. You couldn't help but feel bad for them and wish they could be together.
Jude! There's so much to explore with him. How is he going to handle having Brandon married, Callie and Mariana leaving for LA, and where does he stand with Jesus? Are they close enough that they will be best friends forever like Callie and Mariana are? He has no one that he is so close to even though he is close to Callie, he still shuts her out and doesn't tell her everything. He needs that best buddy who knows everything about him.
I want this family to last forever on TV. Keep tackling the hard subjects no one will talk about. Tackle the issues that everyone and every channel wants to ignore. Netflix ghosted two shows that talked about children social anxiety and autism. Is it because the topics are too real and too hard to discuss? Or is it because Netflix feels it's a boring subject and no reason to discuss it? Either way, these are real life topics that kids go through every single day! These are issues every parent has to deal with! Bullying happens to just in school but in the workplace too. Stef found that out in her job. Hard topics need to be aired and discussed. People need to know they are not alone.
I hope maybe Freeform will rethink about bringing The Fosters back on TV. So what if they are all grown up and out of the house. I think they didn't get to develop or explore enough.
Good Trouble (2019)
Love this series!
When The Fosters ended I was heartbroken. Then came Good Trouble and I was really happy to see this family again. I love seeing the girls together, showing how you can become real sisters even though you're not blood related. I love their personalities, the topics they face and push through. Like with the Fosters, they tackle issues that are really happening and going on in the workplace.
I immediately fell in love with all of the cast. I do wish they would've brought back Aaron, Anna and her husband Mike, along with the baby Isabella. But I get why they didn't. As for the new people.... Can Ben be anymore of a scuzzball?! Lol. He is perfect for us to hate. Alex I want to wring his neck nonstop for being so cruel to Mariana, he can't get her name right and she should say it nonstop until he does.
Most shows won't even try to broach hard subjects and things they feel is uncomfortable. Netflix axes all shows that tackle hard issues like social anxiety, autism, and anything that isn't of the norm. I like that Freeform is willing to not shy away and bring these issues to the forefront.
I do wish we would see more of the family. Mariana's twin should have been in more episodes than just two. I think I wanted to see Jesus more and see how he develops as a person with a TBI. Could he have gotten inspired by Mariana and maybe go to college later on? Jude in more than just 7. Brandon in more than just 4. I love that the moms are in 8 but wish they would've been in more also.
I wanted to see so much more with all of the kids now that they are grown up and where their lives are taking them. I'm quite sad to see this show will be wrapping up in 2024. I was really hoping for it to go on for another few seasons.
Law & Order: Organized Crime (2021)
Such a fan!!
I LOVE this new show! Well, I love anything that has crossover with Olivia and Stabler together. Even the new music I like. Man, the first season came out with a huge bang and I was hooked. Not that I wouldn't be bc it has Stabler in it and why would anyone want to kill Kathy?!?! I was so shocked when that happened! I'm so invested in his family. I love how he goes and sees his old captain Cragen and seeing them together again brought back so many good memories! Cragen, of course was his natural fatherly self when talking to Stabler, his problem child once again. I miss Cragen too.
Season two didn't provide as much of a punch as Season One did, but I wasn't disappointed at all. I loved it. I'm a bit behind the times and can't see Season 3 yet, but I will. I hope this show lasts as long as Benson and Stabler are together. Now if only they would get married and be together. He gets her and she gets him. They are truly perfect for one another!
As for his team around him, pull Kelli Giddish and have her come to his team now that she has left SVU. I want to see her back with the team one way or another. I love her. I think she can be a great partner to Stabler and keep tabs on him for Olivia!
Keep this show running for years! Love it! Just give me some more crossovers with Benson and crew!
Bap Jal Sajuneun Yeppeun Nuna (2018)
Awful!
I've watched two Korean shows and both have infuriated me. This one angered me so much that I'm writing a review. The acting is excellent by the two main characters. As a matter of fact, I love them together. But the fact they depict borderline stalking from the ex boyfriend, conniving and vile behavior out of the mother and she's the worst out of all of them, and then backstabbing from the best friend only bc the PITA mother convinces her to break the couple up, downright disgusted me. Korean culture is....if this is how it is for the children, I pity every single child born into Korean families.
In the one sitcom the father was over bearing and controlling. In this God forsaken show the mother is the absolute worst individual on the planet. Love is love yet this wretched mother can't get this into her head.
What I deeply disliked is the girl not telling her mother off and moving out. What is the matter with her?!?!!! She's a grown adult and can date or be with whomever she wants! This mother even prefers her to be with the stalker rather than a man who treats her well and loves her. Downright awful. That's the type of message we want young children to learn. Be treated horribly and just take it all for the sake of status.
I don't condone this type of attitude or behavior and if this is how Koreans believe people should be treated, then these shows shouldn't be allowed on TV. Young children and teens watch stuff like this and it's teaching them the wrong message.
I refuse to watch any more Korean shows. Korea needs to get it into their heads love is love and no matter who you love it should be accepted. We're not in the dark ages anymore. No one lives in the 17th or 18th Century. We're now into the 21st Century, so Korea needs to get a grip.
Inventing Anna (2022)
Awful!
Oh, Shonda Rhimes is my kryptonite. Everything she puts out is overacted, heavily laced with ridiculous drama, and characters you cannot connect with to save your soul. I had this on for background noise and, OMG, am I glad I used it for that purpose.
Let's talk about the acting. Can we say ridiculously over the top? I couldn't stand Garner to save my life. Her voice grated on every nerve I had. The male actors were just as bad. And for a seasoned actress, Anna did a very poor job, in my opinion.
This was a show that could've been told in maybe one or two segments. Two TOPS! No more than that. But with everything Rhimes does she has to draaaaaaaaag it out until the production company is begging her to call it quits.
I have watched other limited series where I've been pulled in immediately and stop what I'm doing and I'm hooked. This, not one bit. I kept right on going and kept it for background noise. I had a feeling it was going to be a waste of time to watch it when it first came out. Glad to know I was so right.
With Love (2021)
Season 2 is cute...
I blazed through Season 1 and loved it. Season 2 drove me a bit more nutty. Lily has got to stop the back and forth and she's not the only one. Santiago has to get a grip also.
I can't stand back and forth, can't make up their minds relationships. This season is all about that. The one person who knows what he wants is Nick! Nick is good for her. Lily is a bit of a flake constantly looking to see what is better on the other side of the grass when she has a really good man at her side and he treats her so well.
Then there's Santiago. No, I don't want to get married, no I don't believe in marriage or anything kind of guy. He's the epitome of a commitment phobic individual who when he finally, and I don't even know if it's so much this as, he just has to have what others have. It's the "if I can't have you, then maybe no one can" from him. He's also constantly back and forth but it's like he's always on the fence ready to run and when he sees Lily with Nick then it sparks the competitive side of "you can't have her". I don't feel Santiago is good for Lily at all esp after this season. He wants nothing that she wants whereas Nick is aligned with her and has the same desires as she does.
I almost came close to not finishing this season due to all the nonstop back and forth of Santiago and Lily not making up their minds. It got to be too much, I was like "enough already!!!"
I really liked Sol as she has come into her own and has a really nice man who tried to protect her when her family gets all over her. She needs to loosen up a bit and realize someone who loves you will protect you and will step in when your family is being an absolute ass to you.
It's just a bit too convenient to have Santiago meet Lily's good friend and set it up like they will date. I don't think so. Move on, move Santiago away from Lily and let her be and stop the nonsense.
I liked it but now I hope they don't go doing the same thing in Season 3 if there is one.
XO, Kitty (2023)
When is SEASON 2 coming?!?!!?!
Yes, I absolutely ADORED this series! I don't know why it's getting such a low rating as it's sooo cute! But I don't care if no one else likes it. I love it!
Honestly, I loved Kitty in the movies. The pesky sister who thinks she knows everything about matchmaking. When I saw she had her own series coming up on Netflix, I immediately set a reminder as I wanted to watch it the day it arrived!
I have done that. I am now waiting for a SEASON 2 as I just loved every minute of it. How can you not love her?! She's so determined, and yet, so confused on things, which is exactly how high school is! You're trying to figure yourself out, see if you want to do this or that, be with this person or that person. You're a colossal mess in high school, and Kitty is no different.
I found it funny Kitty is failing a Literature class when she was in AP classes in her usual school. But they have to show how much we are lagging behind them.
I truly love how they depict Yuri can't come out as gay bc of her family being front and center of things, it also shows how Korean families look at their children when they're gay. There's so much shame they go through, and it's awful they can't be who they truly are. Your heart breaks for Yuri when she tells Kitty she can't be herself. But you cheer Yuri on when she does tell her mom and is honest about who she is. I love Kitty and Yuri's friendship.
Kitty's immediate friendship with Que is lovely, and you get the feeling a lifelong friendship is blooming. Who doesn't fight with their best friends?! They even fight cute. Que is the best confidant a girl could ever have. Through thick and thin he's there for Kitty. Helps her study, is her listening board, and overall good friend.
Even Meno is likable. At first you think this spoiled brat has no idea what to do with this American girl. But he slowly comes around and you see another side to the brat side.
Dae, you can't not love this kid. In this you feel so bad for him, all you want to do is hug him. (He's so sweet with his little sister! I loved her too.) But Dae, I swear he gets the short end of the stick on all sides. I really hope things turn out better for him in the next season. He deserves to be happy and right now he is just broken.
Every single character I loved, and even the one I hated did an excellent job! These characters are relatable, likable, lovable, and I can't wait to find out more. Bring on SEASON 2!!
Unstable (2023)
Really like it!
I've grown to really like Rob Lowe. I loved him in Brothers and Sisters and from there I have become a fan. He's very good at making his characters likable and believable. He cracks me up in Unstable.
I honestly didn't know what to expect from him in this sitcom, I've seen his son act with him in Holiday in the Wild, and while his son is so-so at acting, it's really Rob that carries Unstable.
I honestly feel if his son was the only one in this, I probably wouldn't watch it. While Rob brings the characters to life, John Owen needs to learn a bit more from his dad on making them believable and not seem so forced in his acting.
I understand this is a father and son project, I just wish the son was more likable and convincing.
Pet Fooled (2016)
Omg...what are we doing to our pets?!?!!!
I watched this and was mortified there's no regulations in place. I cannot believe how we have been CONNED by the pet food industry!!! I'm even more appalled that NO ONE is doing anything about these big companies and making them change the junk they're putting in our pet's food!
For years when I had my dog, I wondered if the stuff coming out of the plant was any good. We lived close to a Purina plant and it would smell DISGUSTING every weekend! I never bought Purina just because of the horrid smell coming out of that building. Now I know why it smells so awful!!!
These companies need to lose one of their precious animals and then maybe they'll learn the heartbreak we feel when losing a pet. THEY ARE NOT PROPERTY!!!! My dog was like my kid and for legislation to think an animal is property is appalling! We are not in the 19th Century anymore! We're in the 21st and legislation needs to catch up and realize people treat their pets as FAMILY!!!
I will NEVER buy from these companies ever again. After this documentary, I don't trust any of them and aid will feed my dog or any pet that I have a raw diet as I know what is in the food since I will hand pick it myself.
Dragevokteren (2020)
Loved every minute!!!!
I'm a HUGE fan of foreign films. This was a fabulous movie and I was so glad I came across it. I'm quite surprised they didn't advertise it more as it's really cute.
I do wish they would've allowed the audience to pick the language as having it dubbed in English irks me. I prefer to watch all films in their native languages. I hated that I couldn't change it.
I love how they show the little boy so engrossed in getting as many likes as he possibly can. It's so true how the kids nowadays are wanting to get likes and will do just about anything to get them.
At first I thought the police officer was a bad guy. Boy, was I wrong! I was so glad to see he had a heart and was trying to get the little girl back to take her to a new place.
The CGI was done very well, the storyline was adorable, and I loved every single minute of the movie.
Will Trent (2023)
Avid Karin Slaughter fan....but....
I have been a fan of Karin Slaughter since her very first book Blindsided landed in my mailbox I took a risk and ordered it without knowing what it was about. 34 pages in and I was hooked. Now many years later, I've read everything she has written and has loved every single book.
But! There's always a risk in turning a book into a TV series. This is one of those risks. While I love some of the actors (Erika Christiansen and Sonja Sohn) there's a lot to be desired with this series. I see Karin Slaughter is one of the Executive Producers, which normally would make me glad bc normally the author wants to keep everything the same as the books. I don't know why she doesn't keep the writers on track with this.
In one sense, fine - you're writing this for TV and you want to change things up. But there's so many things wrong if you're comparing the show to the books.
If I were coming to the TV series with no knowledge of the books then maybe I would like it better. I wish Slaughter would've been the one to write the scripts as it makes me really wonder if the writers were paying attention to the books at all.
Last Vegas (2013)
How can you not love this movie?!?!?!!!
Maybe I'm the only one on the planet that gets super excited when I see DeNiro, Kline, Douglas, and Freeman in one movie. I'm a lover of three of them and the other is just so so, but Douglas does a decent job in this movie.
I love the friendship these men have and wish there were more like this in real life.
The storyline is funny with a bit of underlying drama. I think every character is unique and likeable. I love it when they go and get their suits for their party.
I think the first bit of laughter is when Freeman goes to escape out of his window from his son's house, and from there I just giggled all the time.
While some people say this is a "geriatric" movie, I think they've totally missed the point of long term friendships and how valuable and precious they are. You have a friend for over 30-40 years and you've been through so much. So, to be able to go on one last trip together isn't a bad scenario for a movie. It's actually something that most people wish they could do but some never get the chance.
New Life (2016)
Incredible Movie!!!!!!
OMG!!!!!! I'm in shock over the low rating on this movie. I have to say, I LOVED every minute of this. I don't think I've cried at a movie like this one in many years.
I was expecting a cute plot, boy meets girl at a young age and there's some tiny hiccups, and all ends well. What I got was a large surprise. Fabulous acting, an ending I wasn't expecting at all, and I wound up going through a bunch of Kleenex.
Most love stories in movies are pretty predictable. What I really enjoyed about this one was there weren't so many predictable moments. I wasn't expecting her husband to shave his head before her. I wasn't expecting the ending at all.
The only plot hole that I was able to find was the old man toward the end. Sure he's the neighbor, but there's no relationship built or shown. He just sees the husband throwing a fit after he learns his wife will die. But that's it until one day he just shows up and sits on the bench in their front yard. I wish there was more expanded so it makes more sense when he comes to the husband and starts talking him.
This movie is soooo good and I hope more people watch it!
Ride (2018)
Loved this movie!!!!!
I stumbled upon the movie just by chance. I instantly fell in love with it. I went back and watched it a second time immediately after.
I had no idea who the actors were. I just really liked how all of them did such a fabulous job! I had to look up the actors and see who was all in this really good movie!
My heart went out to this small little boy, John, who has to fight his entire way to finally get something good. Once, it's very rare, you get to see a social worker fight for a child and find him the right family. Thankfully she found him one.
At first I thought the man and John were going to come to serious blows and would never work out. But I was so relieved when they adopted him.
I really wish John's big brother was able to get his name changed to Buultjens just so it maybe could've helped heal him also. While Rory's appearance was short, my heart did go out to him. I hope he was able to straighten his life out and do some good.
John's kindness and incredible good heart shows you can live the worst childhood, and make the decision to end the cycle of abuse. I firmly believe he couldn't have done it without the wonderful help of Mr. And Mrs. Buultjens.
Dirty John (2018)
Can't believe women can be so ridiculously gullible!
Right off the bat, you side with the daughter as any man who shows up for a first date in shorts is an idiot. And even worse, a woman that allows a first date to even start like that is clearly begging for trouble.
Older women who have no self esteem, no self worth, no nothing do stupid stuff like this. They'll believe anything and everything someone tells them. Has multiple chances to annul the marriage and too stupid to do it.
This show depicts women who are clearly desperate for someone to love them and will believe anything and everything spun to them. I really hope there's smarter women in the world and not ones like this woman. Listen to your kids if they feel someone is off! Obviously her daughters were a million times smarter than their mother.
This show disgusts me in how gullible women are. Even with the evidence she keeps going back. That's sheer stupidity on her part. To boot, she doesn't know the difference between a doctor and an anesthesiologist?!?!?! Anyone with a brain knows they're not doctors.
This show does a great job at pissing me off, so kudos to them in being able to provoke that kind of emotional response.
It'll be awhile before I watch the second season. I can only deal with so much human stupidity in one day.
Sex/Life (2021)
Love it! can't wait for Season 2!!!
***Spolers****
This show isn't for vanilla / conventional people, people who have high expectations, or who can't just watch a show and let it unfold. I watched this all in one night. I know, people are grumping about the storyline, the sex, etc..
First off, if you're all about vanilla sex, conventional marriage, never have any doubts In your life, then maybe you shouldn't watch this show.
I had no idea what this was about, just decided to give it a shot. By the second episode I was hooked. Are humans broken? Yes, we absolutely are! Are we all perfect? Not that I'm aware of! These characters take a while to unfold. However, we get flashbacks into WHY we are seeing them act the way they do. The flashbacks tell us a lot about each character.
I LOVE Billie. Has the 2nd baby, husband doesn't pay attention to her, feeling a bit insecure of herself, and to some degree, there could be an underlying issue with postpartum that might get explored in Season 2. I don't know of any new mother that doesn't have some insecurities and that might think back to her first love or how sex used to be before the kids. Is she a mess? Absolutely! She's not perfect. I like her complexity. I want to see her grow more in season 2.
Brad, now he has issues. This guy is in need of some growing up. Luckily, I start to see him doing this in episodes 6-7. But again, in the flashbacks we get to see what makes Brad such a mess. We can make some sense out of him and why he was acting the way he was when he was with Billie. I can't wait to see how he grows in season 2.
Cooper, well, here's your average conventional, vanilla, can't think out of the box man. When he reads Billie's diary, he blames her for putting thoughts into his head. Poor Billie has to train, or try, to train him in bed. When it doesn't go so well, he blames her for it. Ahhhh, no. He shouldn't've read her diary! And for the love of God, man, get a grip and try new things!
Sasha is the best friend we all want to have. She says what she thinks, tries her damndest to keep you out of trouble, but backs you when you are in trouble. She's a good sounding board for Billie.
Then beware of the Stepford friends. They act all nicey nice one minute and then when the ball drops they also drop Billie and show their true selves. Careful, Billie, don't trust them.
Do I listen to all of the people complaining about this show? No. I'm so excited to see it's coming back for a season 2! There's more to each character than just the sex, conventional marriage, and messy personalities. It touches on what conventional married couples wish they could do but are too scared, wish they could say but won't, and the boredom that some people have with vanilla sex. When you look deeper, be true to yourself, just because you have had a few kids doesn't mean you have to lose the person you once were that you enjoyed being. Be willing to try new things and think out of the box. Stop being so rigid and in the same routine day after day.
I'm personally rooting for Brad and Billie to get married. Cooper is a nice guy, but he's suited much more for Francesca. Let's see what happens in Season 2!!
Dr. Seuss Baking Challenge (2022)
Very, very cute!!!
I really liked this one as it focused just on Dr. Seuss Christmas and was fun to watch! Who knew we could use the term 'Seussian' so many years later!?!??? Dr. Seuss would be so proud!
I love some of the contestants and their energy and positivity even when things aren't going right. That says a lot about their character!
What also says a lot about one's character is when the camera pans to someone and they have a not so nice look on their face while someone else is getting compliments on their food. Can't you be happy for someone else instead of having this disgusted nasty look? It's quite off putting to see that in adults who are competing.
My only wish is that the judges weren't so scripted and over acted. Lam esp seemed to be overacting most of the time. I wish TV shows were just able to be played out and have true reactions and responses.
Hjem til jul (2019)
Love this show!!!!
I really, really wish someone would pick this show up and renew it. It's just adorable and so relatable! How can they not renew this? I love foreign shows and this is at the top of my list as being one of the best that I have seen in a long time. Hollywood can learn from other countries as they make a lot of shows much more relatable.
The fact they stick in Love Actually throughout the show is just too cute. I adore that movie and it's quite funny to hear all the complaining from the characters as I never in a million years would have seen Love Actually in that way.
What I also love is there's such an element of how hard it is to find a decent date nowadays! I'm right there with the main characters! I love this and wish more people could see this show and that it would continue on.
