Captain Fall (2023)
Netflix needs better business decisions
Although what I am about to say does not really require six hundred characters, here I go:
Captain fall is about another animated series for adults that relies on being dark, edgy in order to garner views, which is unlikely to work for them since we already have an astounding catalogue of animations doing that (eg Rick and Morty, South Park) It falls victim to what almost all recent adult animations have already fallen to with the exception of select few. Therefore captain Fall, for me, an average viewer, was nothing but meh, little laughs here and there. Netflix needs to understand that adult animation is not their cup of tea and if they do happen to produce a good one after ages, cough cough inside job cough, they should atleast bother to complete its story. As an animation fan I am disgruntled that we are being served literal experiment series like Mulligan, Agent Elvis, and now Captain fall, instead of those with genius writing and world building.
Mulligan (2023)
Could have been amazing
The reason I write this is because the premise of the show- a post apocalyptic world- was interesting and promising, but starting to watch the show, and I couldn't get past the first two episodes because the jokes were not fresh, it look like they were taken of and old Reddit Post. There is also little to no effort in the writing of the show, like it was a chat GPT script. I would also like to address my issue with Netflix, it needs to stop experimenting, and cancelling its actual good animations with amazing writing and great premise after one season while bringing out new ones quickly, when it should be working hard on one.
Agent Elvis (2023)
Offers nothing special
The animation style is pleasing, the scenes are colourful and vibrant, which makes you want to watch it, but you soon realise it's nothing that you haven't previously seen: haven't we have much gore, violent, fast moving, and foul mouthed humour before? It offers nothing that would keep you hooked as such. Although Elvis and/Priscilla Presley fans do not need any reason as such to watch the series, for others looking for new animated sitcoms to watch, this might not be the best choice (unless you want something mindless to watch and relax). It might have worked better if it were a movie instead of a show.
Inside Job (2021)
Funny, clever, MUST WATCH
I'd like to start by saying that this show, much like most adult animations, is criminally underrated thanks to how people prefer easy to understand, feel good, and somewhat generic shows over witty comedies. Inside Job is an amalgamation of brilliant but relatable characters and an astute work place comedy which tackles social issues simultaneously in a sarcastic manner. I disagree with those who say that it is much like Rick and Morty when with the exception of science-y stuff and an imperfect father-daughter relationship, it's much much different, but just as amazing and deserving of the same recognition.
So if you're looking for a funny, binge worthy, feel good show with iconic dialogues and characters, go for it!!!
