Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: The Elysian Kingdom (2022)
Ummm...what now?
Will someone find the mercury stone and beat me to death with it? Please put me out of my misery. It was like a bad Flash Gordon episode. Where ever this episode was conceived and written should be checked for a gas leak.
Shrek the Third (2007)
Stay "Far Far Away" from this pile of...
Wow, what a disappointment this movie was. If you liked the first two, you might want to consider skipping this one. THIS is not a true "Shrek" film. The storyline is completely worthless. The dialog is dry and boring. The characters were boring and didn't interact well like they did in the previous two films. One thing I liked about the other TRUE Shrek films is in the background there's always something happening. This sad attempt?? Nothing, na-da. This one needs to be taken back to the drawing board. It's like some studio exec said, "Come up with something in 5 minutes...we'll make a 1 1/2 movie about it and push it out to the public..they'll like it...it has he SHREK name on it." This was truly a load of crap and they should be ashamed for ruining an otherwise great franchise.
Corpse Bride (2005)
Dead on Arrival
First off let me tell you I love Tim Burton's work. I live for his next film....but this film....it was D. O. A. I'm reading all these positive comments on this film, and I can't help but wonder....did we see the same film???? I found it very very dry and boring. The characters were just that....Boring. The kid behind me said to his mom half way through, "Mom can we go...this movie sucks..." I must agree with him. The Nightmare before Christmas was one of my favorite films from Burton...it seemed like it was an attempt to re-capture some of that film's magic and charm. It failed horribly. I am still shaking my head at what I just saw...
Danny Elfman...I love his work also. He must've been rushed in this film because a lot of the musical score in this film like he took the score he wrote for Nightmare before Christmas, changed a few words around, changed a few note positions around and viola! it was done. Very dull.
So I disagree with the people that wrote how great this film was and how it was Burton's best yet... 110% disagree... it was garbage.
Bewitched (2005)
This movie should be burned at the stake
Man oh Man was this movie a waste of time and money. Absolutely no "point" to it at all. The script did not even BEGIN to use the talented cast it had. Awful, is the only word I can think of to sum up this film. I've said it in previous comments on movies and I'll say it again. When an actor has more than 1 film released within a year like Wil Ferrell has, they always bomb...Why?? Because the actor/actress does not have the time to fully prepare for the role, and they usually end up putting out something like this, that totally wastes everyone's time. This movie was full of Ferrell doing what Ferrell did on Saturday night Live. It was cute then, but it's rather annoying now. Been there done that...move on. I agree with another's comment that Ferrell should go away for a few years, re-invent himself and then come back. (and keep his clothes on) I loved him in Elf...but his last few movies...Wow. I am a huge fan of Nicole Kidman, Michael Caine & Shirley MacLaine, but even they could not save this piece of black cat vomit. Some where in Hollywood right now, some over-paid marketing guy is saying, "Wil Ferrell is hot right now, lets just put out movie after movie with him in it and milk it for everything it's worth". Shame on you.
The Village (2004)
The Trailer was Better than the movie
You know...I love M. Night Shyamalan 's work up until this movie. I thought Signs was one of his best...I had high hopes for this one as the trailer (which I've seen 15 billion times in theatres and TV) was showing the potential for another excellent movie from him. Well this is the case where the trailer was totally misleading as to what the movie was about. When the `twist' was revealed, I could've gotten up and left the theater right then and there. The ONLY thing that kept me there is I'm a fan of Joaquin Phoenix. He was excellent in his role as Lucius. Also, I was blown away by Bryce Dallas Howard's portrayal of Ivy. The acting was very good in the movie, but the story
oh man
if the movie was about what the trailer was showing us all these many months, this could've been an awesome movie..
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Was looking forward to this movie...
I was really looking forward to this movie...Normally I don't read reviews before I see a movie, as I don't want my view of the film tainted. But with all the good press this movie got from just about everyone who saw it and I mean EVERYONE who saw it had comments like "Wow", and "Better than the first...", I thought, "Hey this MUST be good...". Nope...this time EVERYBODY was wrong. Don't get me wrong, this was an "OK" movie, the cast did a good job, and the special effects were done very well...it's just that the ending was so "anti-climatic". It was just "blah"... I guess I was expecting more out of this film....why??? Because I broke my own rule about not reading reviews and believed all the hype...
Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (2003)
What were you expecting?
Boy, people have sure been knocking this movie. I personally, thought it was hilarious. I loved it. I don't know what other people were expecting, I mean, glance at the title. If people are looking for intellectual stimulation and a subject for discussion at their next Mensa meeting, then no...this movie would not be for them. Derek Richardson and Eric Christian Olsen did a great job. They both had their work cut out for them, and they came through.
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life (2003)
Going through the motions...
Someone stated that this movie just "went through the motions". I couldn't agree more. I was very surprised how little "action" there was in this "action" movie. The action scenes you see in the preview is pretty much it. The first one was full of twists and turns and well..."Action"...this one...nothing, na-da, zip. It's too bad too, because I really thought this movie had potential.
Star Trek: Nemesis (2002)
Talented Cast
I was really looking forward to seeing this installment of the TNG series. I've loved all the other films in the series. But this one I was disappointed with. I really think the movie took too long to set up. Patrick Stewart plays his part wonderfully, but the talents of the other characters such as Worf, Dr. Crusher, and Deanna Troi are not used enough. I actually got bored until about the end when the action started. When I saw the previews I thought what a good move to somehow bring Lore, Data's brother, back into the story. So I was surprised and disappointed when it wasn't actually Lore in the film. I hope they do have another movie in the works for this franchise, but USE the talented cast next time.
Signs (2002)
A very well made movie...
Now this movie I loved. It had a little more humor in it than I was expecting, but it was done in all the right places in the movie. I liked the fact that there were minimal special effects in this movie and they relied on the tried and true style of "the anticipation of what is going to happen next" makes for a GREAT movie. Go see it
The Creature Wasn't Nice (1981)
Oh My...
I picked up this movie thinking, "Hey it's got Leslie Nielsen in it"... I usually love the characters that Leslie Nielsen plays, but even he could not save this one. It was described as a "comedy" but I really can't remember laughing once. All I could do was sit there and shake my head and pray for a power failure.
