Nian hui bu neng ting! (2023)
Fuuny at first taste , but In the end , it's still poison apple covered in caramel.
This movie indeed catch the crazyness of modern day big corp. Culture.
..... Just like the song song they sung at the show. Higher up snap a finger , and the management try to guess what the big guys meaning while not daring to ask ,Just level after level , rank after rank , push it all the way down to the bottom.
Everybody who has a pair of eyes can see how Johnny/Jianlin Hu is not even close to be qualify to be promoted. But they all just close they eyes for it thinking it's just part of the "bigger plan" played by the CEO. (Or even rumored that he is CEO's son or anything......even though he clearly not that much younger than "the man")
But , in as what I said in the tittle , in the end ,it's still poison apple covered in caramel. Nothing really changed.
Magic got the long deserved promotion.......but so just , he is still just another "little nut" in this crazy system.
Hu saved the factory (and all his follower workers) , but it still got automation remodeled. And with all those computerized CNC machines , he and his friends' craftsmanship skill are still in danger.
Penny is left the company.......which she probably would regret later.
(In the end , it still the case of "pick the right side" and "the boss's word is the law".....the system are there , strong and solid.)
The story ended at a happy ending tone. But for all of us the IRL Maigc/Hu/Penny , who step out the theater , the story is still far far away from the end.......
Velma: The Brains of the Operation (2023)
slowly climb to a high point in the middle....and downhill harder than before.
So , we learned about that "who didn't see that coming" plot twist at the end of ep.9.
And the part the Velma try to catch the real villain are actually give us some feeling of the OG Scooby-Doo feeling.
(Especailly the part of face reveal by pulling of the mask from tide up villain.)
And the villain's reason of doing so are cartoonish enough (IMO) to works......and the reason why Velma is so "werido" are also explained.
(But appearly her personalty are still just amplified by the "reason" , not totally changed by it.)
Norville finally get a bone and left to avoid Velma's toxic way are good.....but the part his dad suggest he starts to use a certain plant based product to ease the stress from the "result" of the end , are not good.
Shaggy is never a drug head , he just look like one......It's said on the wiki. So isn't make Norville became a drug head count as some kind of forcing a "stereotype" to a person? I think it counts....
In the end , non of the "main team" are getting more likeable or closer to the OG team.
(Also ,the ending of this episode really make me feel bad for Mr. Dinkly , and Sophie....and the baby......Because during the scene that Velma try to make the house back into the shape for 2 years ago , we can see how much better the living condition is now instead of two years ago.(beside Velma's sickly persistent on her missing mom and mystery solving.....Even the family pic look happier for both adults. Velma just don't want to face the truth that her parent's marriage is a miserable one , and the relationship was already failing apart , and the truth that her dad had moved on from this sad relationship to make a happier one.... Her dad think Diya run away.....because that's how the relationships between both of them are feeling like to do , or even had argued about it already , two years ago.)
Inside Job: Project Reboot (2022)
Kind unexpaected turn out.
Never expect to see this side of Rand.....But I guess after achieve that kind level of success , a person's desire will be roll back to the basic....the most simple and pure desire as a human being.
And kind interesting to see the show play on the ME and AU idea.
(Although JR's back story kind make me feel bad for him to ever met Rand.....but his last action of revenge also made me take back my sympathy ,
as we don't really saw what happen to him in the AU , which means I don't got enough information for him to justified his action.....
Everybody else from the team seems to get a "good on the first sight" AU , so who says JR didn't also got one?)
