Ricky Stanicky (2024)
Surprisingly funny
I'll be honest, the previews did not do it justice and i had zero desire to watch this even though i like dumb comedies. Till i saw that John Cena was in it as i have enjoyed him recently as he seems to have really started to come into his own and find his niche as a comedic actor. Plus any movie that has William H. Macy in it automatically has me sold on watching it. I am not saying this is a great movie, but that it is funny and that it will make you laugh and John Cena delivers the comedy but also makes you feel for his character. This is definitely a comedy that i could watch over and over.
Creed III (2023)
Don't Even Bother Watching It!
I had no desire to watch this knowing they weren't going to have Stallone in it. But decided to give it a try now that it is on Prime Video. I wish i didn't, It was just awful! It takes a lot for me to give a bad review but this deserves it. The movie has absolutely no heart or soul, it tries too hard and not enough in all the wrong places and the last fight scene has a segment that is just absolutely horrendous. I will give Jonathon Majors and Michael B Jordan props for their acting but their performances aren't worth the time. I get that they wanted to modernize this and take it in a direction away from the Rocky story line but the way they did it was just awful and completely disrespectful to the source material. The reason we have all loved and watched the Rocky movies (and the first two Creed movies) was that they had heart and soul that punched you in the gut and made you feel yet lifted you up and made you want to shadowbox in the movie theater. This movie did none of that, it tried but it did not deliver. And i cannot get behind this movie when there is absolutely no mention of Rocky at all even though he is the one who got Creed to where he is in this film. They should have just made a boxing movie completely separate from the world that Stallone created and with no character names from his scripts and it would still be a dumpster fire but it would have at least earned an extra star from me.
Acapulco (2021)
Engaging, funny, heartfelt story
This show is great and should be bigger than it is, i think Apple doesn't do a well enough job at marketing it right. Yes the show highlights all the good and bad stereotypes of Mexican and US 80's stereotypes but that's the point and part of the humor as they are obviously so over the top that it is funny. As it's a Gen Xer obviously embellishing his story of how things were to his Gen Z nephew. The story though is fun, light, and heartwarming as well and hits all the right nostalgia notes for anyone that grew up in the 80's. You connect with the characters and can't help but like all of them, even the ones that you are supposed to not like. The actors are all great and at the end of each episode you want more.
Can You Feel Me Dancing? (1986)
Hidden Gem - Justine Bateman is Amazing
I remember when this movie was first aired and loving the story and Justine's performance. It's now Amazon Prime and I just finished watching it and it's exactly as I remember it. Her performance is amazing and so believable. You definitely feel her character's struggle and the emotions she's experiencing because of the strength of her performance. It's a story that everyone can relate to regardless of what your own experience is in life. It's definitely got that 80's TV movie feel but that's also what makes it great. I definitely recommend watching this if you get the chance. Justine's performance is worth it alone. I'll never understand why her career didn't reach the heights that it should have. She had the looks, personality, and acting chops to be a Hollywood A-list icon.
Willow (2022)
it's worth watching but it's got some big flaws
I really want to give this more stars, Warwick Davis is great and so is Amar Chada-Patel but the rest of the main cast are just whinny angsty teens that couldn't act their way out of a wet paper bag if it were ripped, except for Erin Kellyman who has improved in every show i have seen her in. I can forgive the bad acting of some of them as the overall story is good and worth watching it unfold and there is just enough nostalgia and throwbacks from the original movie tied in to keep me appeased. But then the absolute worst part of the entire show gets thrown in that completely ruins everything and takes you out of the scene, THE STUPID MODERN SONGS RUIN EVERYTHING THAT IS GOOD ABOUT THIS SHOW. I absolutely hate it and so does everyone else i have talked to about it.
I get it, the original movie came out 35 years ago and i'm not really the target audience for this show. But did Disney really have to make it all, well...Disney? I understand they need to draw in a younger crowd to this but they could have stayed true to the originals concepts and overall feel without the full Disney tv show treatment and still done that. I mean the vast majority of the movies fans were just kids themselves (i was only 12) when it hit the theaters in 1988.
Derry Girls (2018)
One Of The Funniest Shows Ever
The only complaint that i have about this show is that there are not enough episodes. This show had me in stitches, i haven't laughed this hard watching a show in such a long time that i can't remember when or if i ever have. The cast and characters are absolutely perfect the way they are written and performed. The way everyone plays off of each other is absolutely amazing. They need to do another season but with more episodes. I just cannot recommend this show enough. Now that i am done watching it i have been going down a rabbit hole trying to find more shows that the cast has been in and shows that Derry Girls show creator Lisa McGee has written.

A fresh update and great sci fi
To all the people writing bad things about this because it bears little resemblance to the Asimov books. Get over yourself! I love the books myself but they were written in the 50's. People who always try to compare different medias, books vs movies, are the worst kind of nerds. I'm saying that as a huge nerd myself. This show on its own merits is a great series and should be the only way that it is critiqued. The acting is stellar, the story is great, the visuals are amazing. Lee Pace alone as Empire is fantastic! This is must watch sci fi that anyone will enjoy. I was hooked from the beginning to end and want more episodes.
The Hustle (2019)
The narration ruins the movie!!!
This movie actually has some very funny moments and could actually stand out more than it does if it weren't for the annoying and pointless narration of the movie. It's like watching a movie for dumb people that had to describe every moment to you so that you can understand what is happening in the scene. It's POINTLESS AND DUMB!!! I made it twenty minutes in before I had to turn it off. Do yourself a favor and watch something else.
