Horrible
10 May 2024
This is not the fabulous megamind but a terrible mix of people making a terrible animation with horrible writers and worse actors....

The first 2 mins and you know everything is just wrong. Does every actor have sinusitis????? What sort of voices have they used. Where's the charm and rizz of megamind????? What is wrong with Disney - i mean so many things but still.........

If they couldn't get the original team (which was awesome btw) they shouldn't have wasted time and money on this monstrosity.

NOT MEGAMIND!!!!!

Watch the original and stop it there. This is just a horrible horrible mess.

Super dumb
11 April 2024
So a woman whos never been in a fight suddenly turns into a combination of Jack Reacher and Jason Bourne 5 months after being in a prison - a place where she got beat up daily no less?

The action scenes are well-choreographed no doubt but the plot has more holes than pathways making it seem just ridiculous.

The fault here lies with the writers and the lead lyna - tho that may be on the director and not the actress. Either way, the action team gets props but the writers let the show down. Guess they missed out a few pages in between when they handed the script to the director.

Tv shows are fun when larger than life but not when they are just plain ridiculous.

Has its moments!

This is a regular heist show, nothing new or exceptional, but still fun.

The acting talent in this show is fabulous. Jimmy Shergil is a great actor who hasn't really gotten his due yet. This may not do it but he developed his character very well.

The entire team does their bit well. Triloki was my fav and JP was frustrating with his constant negativity - but a really great representation of how people are. Arshad Warsi was a fabulous narrator though at times there was too much narration.

I get that some of the international audiences found the whole representation of astrology a bit much but tbh its not far-fetched at all🙈 I actually know a family that designed their bathrooms based on such advice 😆

The representation of politicians and their greed/grime is so true of several Indian CMs who either build malls in front of slums for money or thug slums in front of malls for vote banks 😁 Overall its a fun watch.

This review is based on watching the audio in the original language without subtitles. A lot of the humour is lost in the translation which often happens.

Also for those who have an issue with the name of the series - choona is a name for lime/whitewash but in slang it also means conning or fooling another!

Awesome!

Don't know whats up with the negative reviews but this is a fun show! Short too with only 10 episodes. The pacing, music, story, animation is all on point without any unnecessary drama.

The writers have done a great job developing each of the characters, be it the main leads or support team. The robots are just too adorable.

It works well for kids and adults alike so you can even enjoy it as a family. Those who enjoy transformers and similar movies will probably enjoy it more.

I haven't read the comics or anything but I found this to be a fun and enjoyable watch. Definitely hope for a second season.

Enjoyable watch

A classic nostalgic take on India in the 80s. The story, music, casting is all fabulous. The creators have shown the simplicity and innocence of the time along with the violent aspects of gangs with equal aplomb.

Rajkumar rao is amazing in this. Dulquer Salmaan is a great actor though I do hope he works a bit on his dialogue delivery and enunciation- it was tough to understand his lines at time.

The pace is well-maintained and wrapped up in 7 episodes. I'm glad they didn't extend it unnecessarily.

A nice crime caper set in a small town and a great weekend watch for anyone looking for a mix of comedy and action.

Gal Gadot 10, movie 1
15 August 2023
So I really wanted to give a positive review because of Gal Gadot but this movie sucks on soo many levels. Honestly this level of absurdity is ridiculous.

I came for Gal Gadot and as always she is brilliant - and the only saving grace for this movie. She has badass skills and I was excited to see her as a spy. Too bad the writers didn't have a clue of what they were doing.

The first sequence itself is a turnoff. The team is supposed to be top MI6 agents but they are worse than rookies. Was this supposed to be a spoof? James Dornan isn't bad in the movie either but there really is nothing else. Alia Bhatt is terrible.

Tbh, I didn't finish the movie so not sure if it redeemed itself in the end but I just couldn't stick with it.

Really hope Gal Gadot gets better projects. She was brilliant in wonderwoman and red notice and needs a team that can match her talent.

Edge-of-your-seat thrilling ride
15 August 2023
This is one of my favourite kdramas. I loved season 1 and season 2 did not disappoint except Jeok Bong.

I have to say Kang Ki Young (Pil-Gwang) has been the biggest surprise of the season. I loved him in secretary Kim and he plays the funny light roles really well but in this he is wow! A much as I want to hate his character, I can't deny I'm crushing a bit on the actor. Someone needs to cast him in a mythological role or a fantasy drama like the King Eternal Monarch.

The new entrant Jeok Bong is soo irritating. I don't know if he is intended as a comic relief but it isn't working. The original team rocks!!

I absolutely love Ha-Na, she's a total badass with so much grit, this is how women need to be shown! Ms Chu is stunning and Mo-Tak is freaking hot. The workout scene was fire.

The character Ju Seok is another game changer. He's a great addition to the cast and I would love to see him back if there is a season 3. (Hint, hint)

I love the music, pacing and action sequences of the show a lot. The chemistry between the team is fab.

Overall, love the show and definitely recommend!

Quirky cosmic comedy
28 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely love this series. The chemistry between David Tennant and Michael Sheen is what makes this show! These two actors are fabulous in their roles as Crowley and Aziraphale.

I love the light-hearted humour and fun of the second season. It definitely carried forward the momentum of the first and made the four-year wait worth it.

I do however feel a bit let down by the ending. Considering how light the first five episodes were, the ending came a bit out of the blue. It was like the creators decided last minute that they needed to ensure a third season and decided to muddy up the last bit which im sure will be resolved in the third, but still I was hoping for a better end.

Other than that, the acting, humour, music and even the addition of Gabriel make this a delightful watch.

Terrible writing but not all bad
28 May 2023
So here's an unpopular opinion about this show - its not all bad. I can already see the number of down votes this sentence alone is going to get.

The plot is full of holes that make it quite ludicrous at times which is its biggest let down. The makers tried for a super slick spy show hoping to also make it an uncrackable mystery. But with so many murder plots and spy movies out there, the audience is already coming up with a dozen ideas to guess the next step. This is what actually let it down. Had they stuck to the spy angle without trying to add so many (often ridiculous) layers, it could have been better.

The excess hate for the actors though is a bit far-fetched. Stanley Tucci, Priyanka Chopra J, and Richard madden held their own even though the dialogues were cringy. Considering some of the "talent" on Netflix originals these days, these people were a very pleasant change.

If you are looking for another Jason Bourne, don't bother. But if you want to just watch something at face value with popcorn on the weekend without analysing any of it, give it a try.

Still fabulous!!
22 May 2023
13 seasons in and this show is still fabulous. As much as I love the chemistry of the cast and the talent, I have to say this show has the best writers.

There is no unnecessary drama or dragged out stories. Instead its relevant, keeping with the times, and deals with each instance with the maturity and grace that is deeply required.

Love the way individual points are represented and the topics this show picks. Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan is my absolute favourite. Whether he is beating down doors or eating (actually it seems) during Sunday dinner, his character is an absolute delight.

This is one show where no one is carrying it alone but is elevated by every actor, writer, and the whole team.

James Spader at his finest
21 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
One of the best crime shows created though it lost momentum in between with the focus shifting too much on Elizabeth Keen.

It started strong because of James Spader and Jon Bonkenkamp. Spader singlehandedly makes this show and has created the finest Raymond Reddington possible. The creators would have done well to keep the focus on him and not on lizzy. Honestly, Megan Boone isn't that great. Ryan Eggold would have worked better with James Spader.

Now that Elizabeth has gone and Bokenkamp is back, I'm hoping the show ends on the same high note it began. Regardless though, this is James Spader's show. Someone needs to give him an Oscar (or its tv equivalent) cause man he is FABULOUS.

NCIS (2003– )

Upto season 13 its a 10, after that don't bother
10 April 2023
This was one of my favourite shows when it started. Loved the dynamic and talent of the original cast. Whether it was Kate, Ziva, or Jenny - they all brought fabulous presence and acting that elevated the script.

The original team with Gibbs, Tony, Tim, Ducky and Abby was a blast. 10/10. Once they started leaving, the show went downhill.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but the worst development was the addition of Wilmer Valderrama. He completely ruined the team dynamic and gravitas of the show with his childish acting and inability to portray an NCIS agent like the others. He literally made it impossible for me to watch this show after just a few episodes.

The new team and episodes are your typical lot on TV with passable acting and average stories. The first 13 seasons are fabulous, the rest - unwatchable.

Sort of what happened with Criminal Minds after Derrick and Hotch left the show.

Networks would be better off by ending an epic show rather than continuing it with crappy actors and plots to rake in more money.

Very average
27 March 2023
I haven't read the books so this review is purely based on the TV series. I found it to be a run-of-the-mill series using the same detective show formula without any new substance.

A major turn off is the cockiness of the lead character. Unlike Richard Castle or Patrick Jane who got some unique quality to the team, this is a cop who acts arrogant just because he does a "good" job. I mean, isn't that what he's paid for? Sometimes its like the others have to be dumbed down for him to shine.

Not something you want to make time for but can watch if nothing else is on. Don't want to blame the actors cause I guess it was also the bad writing that let the show down.

The Batman (2022)

What is wrong with these people?
18 March 2023
Are you kidding me with these ratings or is the production house busy typing out these reviews cause they certainly didn't do their work on this absolute horrid interpretation of an iconic comic hero.

DC had the better comics and animations but Hollywood seems hell bent on a mission to do its worst.

The ONLY saving grace for Batman in Hollywood was the Bale-Nolan series. Probably the heaven's answer to all nerd prayers but after this debacle even the powers that be gave up. Maybe that's why they sent James Gunn to DC, some hope so that muggles stop screwing up the best stuff of the nerds.

This is not Batman and Robert Pattinson - I have nothing against the actor - but dude Batman isn't a sorry depressed loser. Dark and gritty does not mean depressed and pathetic, its moving through life's challenging times. What a pathetic pathetic creation that should never have been made or released and certainly not given the title of the Batman.

Anyone who wants to see Batman, go watch the Christian Bale series which got everything right. This is not even a spoof.

Pathetic.

Season 1 - 10, season 2 - 0
18 March 2023
This was my favourite hindi show after Dekh bhai Dekh and season 1 had me in splits.

The chemistry of the cast and their dialogues is funny like hell. Missed the show when it was over and eagerly waited for the second season but hate hate hate the introduction of the new character jasmine.

She couldn't keep up with the cast in terms of dialogue, comedy or acting. Every time she is on scene it breaks the organic vibe of the original cast. Any scene with the original cast will have you laughing till you are in tears but it does not work at all with her.

What a disappointing development. You can watch 70 episodes of season 1 without needing a break but I couldn't sit through even one episode with this jasmine character.

If you want to experience the actual humour of the show, watch season 1 and skip the second.

Full tilt rock n roll
18 March 2023
I came for Elvis and his music, stayed for Matthew McConaughey - Best choice for voicing Elvis!

Miss these 60's era shows with their Pulp Fiction style action. The humour is crude and way more reflective of that time than now which may not work for a lot of the current generation.

Overall the series has a lot of potential. I do feel the cussing and f bombs went a bit overboard but the pace and style is good.

Being set in the 60s, a lot of humour would be impossible now with everything being offensive or triggering but if people can let go of their hangups and just enjoy this series as an animation, its a fun watch.

Worst series, NOT Star Trek
8 March 2023
Why o why did the star trek franchise agree to this crap?? This show is so utterly horrible it makes the xindi debacle of star trek enterprise seem tolerable.

And for all the people screaming that the only reason for negative reviews is some kind of racism- puhlease.

Star trek is the OG of inclusivity. It did not matter who was the leader or in the crew - human, andorian, or anyone else. This review has nothing to do with any actors ethnicity and everything to do with the utter lack of substance, plot, and talent.

For something that should never have been made, these many episodes and seasons are already too much. This is NOT star trek. Just a terrible show riding on the wave of an epic series.

Fun, quirky start... not the best end
5 March 2023
I enjoyed this show. Its fun quirky and charming. The start of the show is light but holds promise.

For those being too hard on the story or pace, bear in mind this is a period piece set in the 1940s when cops didn't have the technology and resources they do today. The lead character is no Theresa Lisbon so don't look for that. Instead she's the fun, not by the book, rule breaking version of Murdoch.

The only issue I had was the sudden bit of intensity at the conclusion. Considering the vibe throughout the show, even though its a serial killer series, I would have preferred something not quite so tragic. The show is set up for a second season and it has the potential for it.

Watch it over a weekend but in the original audio.. the English dubbing doesn't work the best which is unfortunately what Prime has set as defaults.

Enjoyable show
28 February 2023
The show maybe inspired by a true story but don't go looking for a factual period piece. Instead, its an enjoyable show about a woman who is intelligent, knows what she wants, and refuses to be put in a box by anyone.

Along with her strong moments of proving herself on the show its also endearing to watch her navigate in a man's world that constantly tries to control her and often fails.

I like the lead actress - she brings the right amount of spunk and softness to her role. This is a light show with interesting cases but nothing too intense.

Overall its a fun watch and definitely worth another season.

Umm.. what the hell was this?
28 February 2023
I thought David Tennant and Stanley Tucci together had to be a winner but then again this was Netflix! Not sure what crap i just watched but wow!

I mean the creators were probably high on another plane in another space time reality when they created this cause this was one incredible waste of fabulous talent.

The basic premise was stupid enough for the 90s but abominable for 2022. The fact that even David Tennant and Stanley Tucci can't save this show is a huge indicator of the gaping plot holes and lack of sense in this series. I'm not even sure how the agreed to this script tbh.

Clean, cook, dance, meditate or do anything with your time than waste it on this (whatever it was)

Fabulous music
26 February 2023
This show started strong and is a good adaptation of a classic series. Jenny Ortega is fabulous as Wednesday and most of the cast works well.

Acting is good which adds to the show. The music, pace, all work well but the writers lost their sharpness towards the end.

The actors for Gomez and Fester didn't work at all imo as their original characters but this wasn't as big an issue.

By the 4th 5th episode everything is painfully obvious which makes it predictable and Wednesday's inability to see it lets the show down a bit. Especially as she started out as such a strong character.

This is definitely one of Netflix's better shows with amazing music and an overall great cast. Definitely enough for another season.

Polish leverage
25 February 2023
This show isn't slick or fast-paced but its a fun watch. Think of this as Leverage with 3 fabulous women in their 60s for whom age is just a number.

You are likely to guess whats coming next and the cops aren't all there with their investigation. Luck seems to really favour these women but they hold their own.

Its a light binge over a weekend or when you don't want to watch something intense. I've recently started watching Polish shows and though they can be predictable, they are quite enjoyable.

I personally stick to the original audio and read the subtitles as I don't like the sound of the English translation.

Rewatching this show!
25 February 2023
Having watched the new 'crime' series being made these days, I had to go back to The Mentalist for something with substance.

One of the best shoes ever made! Excellent acting and fabulous story lines. I love the whole team and Teresa Lisbon is the kind of character and actress you want for a team lead. Every character is well-written and the chemistry of the cast is great.

The Red John story did extend and it was always going to be somewhat of an anticlimax after so many seasons but I still like how it was ultimately handled.

With all the positives, the cherry on the cake was the closure at the end of the series instead of an unnecessary cliffhanger which seems to be the norm now.

Miss this show!!

Want to spoof MI6? Give it to Netflix
25 February 2023
This was one of the dumbest 'spy' attempts, and MI6, c'mon!

Even though I lower the bar for a Netflix original, the story or whatever you call it was too bad to continue. Not sure who the writers are but damn it seems a bunch of rookies were sent to the deep end.

From the first episode you find yourself questioning if you're watching actual agents and their operations or people with no idea about spies role-playing for fun.

The acting talent was not bad but when the script is this weak, there seems little that can save it. If this is not your genre go for it but if you truly enjoy spy thrillers, give this a miss.
