Out of the Blue (2022)
No Thrills; All Predictable
Sorry to say, I am not a very astute, in-depth, insightful movie watcher, but I figured out this plot in the first 3 minutes; & I do mean three minutes. The movie went downhill from there with its predictability. Every scene, following those three minutes, unfortunately, just proved my hunch to be more & more correct. The movie actually became painful to watch because of its trite, predictably. I continued to watch out of humorous curiosity to see how correct I was. Humour soon became anger. I wanted to yell at the characters, telling them how ridiculous they were being. "Stop, think, don't fall for it, the way every movie guy does!" But, I knew it was too late to tell them, I was watching a movie so the deed was all ready done & "in the can" as I've heard movie people say. What a shame. That's 90, or so minutes I'll never get back.
9-1-1: Lone Star (2020)
Great, diverse show.
I have no idea about the reality of this show, I just know I thoroughly enjoy 911 Lonestar. As an "old" white woman I love the diversity of the cast. Representation is important, & this show has "it all". I love the dynamic & camaraderie this team, & their extended families reflect. There are really good actors here that without this show I might never have seen. Thank you to the writers for showing happy inclusion. I can't say enough good about the happy feeling this show gives me. I wish more shows reflected the world we live in with such a positive spin. Evidently I need more words to post, so redundancy is now required. Watch 911 Lonestar for an hour that will leave you feeling good.
So Help Me Todd (2022)
Going too far over the top.
So Help Me Todd has a great cast (Marcia Gay Harden & Skylar Aston) who are very good with comedy. Their supporting cast is strong also. This show tries all of their comedy skills more than their good acting skills, though. This started out as a cute, fun, enjoyable show but, in my opinion, with time has moved too far to the sarcastic, slap stick comedy realm. The plots are thin to nonexistent giving too much time for slapstick; turning to childishness & losing the drama. I fear this show will face a premature cancellation when it still has so much promise. Please, beef up the plots, & give us a good dramedy to watch again. I know Harden & Aston can be more subtle in their roles with a good plot behind them.
True Lies (2023)
Was looking forward to this show.
Loved the movie, & was hopeful for the show; which ended up feeling rushed & undeveloped. The acting, as a result felt flat, like they were all going through the motions. No real chemistry was formed between the characters. The dialogue was predictable as a result. Perhaps a 2 hr. Intro show would have helped. The cover company was cute, but again, it all went by so fast the entrance, & cover idea got lost. By the end I wasn't sure what I had seen. The actors all seemed to be trying hard to bring this show to life, but perhaps they tried too hard. Perhaps the best parts, with pacing, was left on the cutting room floor.
I will watch ep. 2 out of curiosity. I would like to see if they find continuity with an enjoyable tempo that can be followed.
