Trump: An American Dream (2017)
Sure, many people think of Trump as a jerk
Watch Trump: An American Dream and place everything that is said about Trump in one of two columns: 1) Verifiable Fact and 2) Hearsay. One of those columns will be much larger than the other. When you remove the hearsay, you'll see (very clearly) that Trump is indeed just another jerk businessman. Hopefully, you can also read between the lines and see other parts of Trump that the media tends to ignore.
Jerky businessmen are the reason we have virtually everything we have today. Do a little research, and you'll find that the U. S. became what it is today thanks to the risks and jerkiness of a small handful of businessmen. Watch The Men Who Built America, a documentary about a handful of jerks who laid the groundwork for everything we (the world) enjoy today. The success of the entire world hinged on these jerks! Like it or not, these jerks made everything you enjoy today possible.
Watch this series and ask yourself: How could a guy (Donald Trump) be such a "business failure" and "poor businessman" for nearly 40 years and have a current net worth of 6.8 billion U. S. dollars? Despite all the hardships and "questionable" dealings, Trump is currently worth 6.8 billion! Wow, I wish I could "fail" in that way!
Donald J. Trump never forced anyone to do business with him. He never forced any government official(s) to provide incentives. He convinced them to accept deals for the benefit of his business. He used "loopholes" and procedures that are available to all for the benefit of his business. Smart! Good for all the people that the Trump organization has employed!
Despite what this documentary will have you believe, Trump is a resilient, goal-oriented, and focused person who has built an incredibly successful business despite all those who have constantly tried to knock him down. I wish that I had an ounce of his steadfastness!
Somebody Feed Phil (2018)
Not for me...
Unlike some of the negative comments that I've read I enjoyed Phil's goofy approach and it doesn't bother me that he isn't a food expert BUT...why can't we turn on the TV anymore with out having political bias shoved down our throats? Who decides to inject politics into a show about food??
Honestly, from what I saw before I stopped watching, it was pretty subtle but I'm getting so tired of this crap that it turns me off at the first sign. If I continue to see awkward attempts to inject political opinions into a program that should have nothing to do with poIotics, I turn it off. I made it as far as the Orlando episode.
North Korea: Inside the Mind of a Dictator (2021)
Was this about N. Korea or Trump being stupid?
1) Documentaries are supposed to be fact based and unbiased - FAIL
2) Attempting to bring peace and form a dialog with a nation that has the world's fourth largest army and a strong and growing nuclear presence should be praised not criticized - FAIL
This could have been a decent documentary if it weren't for the obvious, awkward, and ever so popular attempt to make Trump look stupid.
I was thinking about giving it 2 or 3 stars but, since they failed in TWO ways, it doesn't even deserve 1.
When did journalist loose touch with the concept of providing accurate and unbiased information? We are at a point in time where nothing can be trusted!
The Machines That Built America (2021)
Somebody should be fired! I doubt that any "facts" were double checked.
Those of you who said "well done" should be embarrassed. This is entertaining, at best. It's on the level of a fictional movie like Batman and Robbin. As a documentary, it very well may be a series full of lazy information gathering and lack luster fact finding.
I should clarify, I'm not sure if this documentary is wrong or if its The Titans That Built America that is wrong but, the two documentaries have completely opposite facts about Henry Ford and airplanes.
This "documentary" describes Henry Ford as a pioneer in air travel. A man who is a driving force in the development of airplanes.
In The Titans That Built America, Henry Ford is completely against the idea of airplanes and is at odds with his son Edsel Ford who uses Ford money, power and ingenuity to help develop air travel. Edsel wanted his legacy to be in air travel while his father, Henry Ford, felt it was a waste of time and money.
I use quotes when I say "documentary" because this is labeled as a documentary but a documentary is supposed to present official facts. This "documentary" makes me question its' creditability all together.
I decided to do a little quick research to see if the same people wrote and produced the two documentaries but I couldn't find that information for this series which leads me to believe that it was written and produced by some 6th graders in their moms basement. I'm comfortable with my conclusion that the producers of The Titans That Built American did their research.
I'm only in episode 2 of this series and I'm pretty sure that everything else that they tell me is going to be based on lazy, ill-informed "fact" finding. Complete garbage!
