Supergirl (2015)
Super-Rubbish
With great shows like Arrow, Flash, Gotham, what were the creators of Supergirl thinking? The acting is terrible, the effects are dreadful and the story lines are pathetic. I'd heard this wasn't going to be dark like some of the shows I've mentioned, but I thought it might be watchable. Oh how wrong I was! The pilot was bad, but I thought I'd give it one more shot. I couldn't even get to the end of the second episode, it was just so terrible. Superman tried his hardest to protect his identity from those around him, but not Supergirl. Not only do her Step-parents, her step-sister know who she is, but also her best friend, Jimmy Olsen (Who for some stupid reason is called James in this.)and also the entire secret government organisation also know as well. So basically the entire human race, except her boss at the local newspaper. The creators of this show needed to seriously think about the plot before making the show and they should have come up with the decision not to both at all.
Postman Pat: The Movie (2014)
Postman Pat hits the big screen
Just been to see this with my 2 year old. Didn't have any real expectations, I was just hoping my little girl would enjoy the film. However I was very much surprised. Firstly the negative stuff: The animation wasn't very good. The CGI looked a little cheap. Also It would have been good if they could have used the same voices for the main characters. Saying that these things things spoil the film. The makers of the film have really thought of the adults who will be seeing this film with their little ones. Simon Cowbell is a good example. A miserable headhunter, hosting a talent show. He even wore clothes very much similar to a certain person with a similar name. The plot wasn't anything new, but as it's for very little children that can be forgiven. My two year old was laughing and clapping to the film.
However their are a few scenes that might scare some children.
Above all a great young children's film that parents will enjoy watching too.
Godzilla (2014)
Complete waste of money
I think 1 star for this film is more than it deserves. I'd been wanting to watch this movie for a while now, and I managed to go last night. I was bored after the first few minutes, because nothing really happens. Oh you see buildings destroyed and people are killed, but the suspense is so dull, their was no feeling whatsoever.
Why Godzilla can't be seen in the opening sequence I'll never know. In the beginning of the film, man see's his wife get killed because it looks like an earthquake. Nothing to say anything different! Yet for some dumb reason, 15 years later he knows it wasn't a quake it was a cover up. Really? The only prove he has is....wait a minute he has no prove because he never saw anything to say otherwise. OK maybe we can forgive them for this dull opening sequence, maybe the rest of the film gets better and better. If you think that then you are very much mistaken. For the next 60 minutes or so nothing happens and I mean nothing whatsoever. It's just some dull acting and people looking like they have constipation. After a long dull first hour we finally get to see the monster...hang on, scratch that comment...because the monster we see is actually a radioactive eating flying bug. Yep you got it a 'bug'. A bug for some reason has been a round for millions of years and been living radiation. (Can you see the big mistake?) Its not for at least another 20 minutes before we get to see who we've all paid to go and see...Godzilla himself. Sadly though we only see his dull spikes on the back of him. When he finally does appear, it turns out he's coming to the rescue and kill this giant 'fly' and wait for it...the flies none flying mate to stop them from having more uninteresting bug babies. Eventually at long last Godzilla catches bug number 1 and I have to admit the Japanese beast gives a terrific raw. Eventually we are going to be treated to at least a decent fight between the 2 creatures. Er..no! Soon as 'ol 'Zilla raws, they cut the scene to boring humans, doing boring uninteresting stuff that has nothing whatsoever with the rest of the plot. After nearly an hour and fifty minutes we the creatures start to fight. At this point I was so bored, I got up and left the film.
Godzilla is a dull uninteresting monster movie. They mocked the 1998 version. It might not have been brilliant, but at least we saw plenty of the beast smashing stuff up. In this version Godzilla is here to defend the world. What a complete waste of money and time watching it.
My advice, don't bother
Noah (2014)
So bad I couldn't watch it to the end
What can I say about Noah? Its a great story, it keeps you interested. A story of redemption, salvation, wrath and sin. It's a great story although a very moving and sad story. That's the Bible review now for the film. What the heck was all that load of rubbish? Darren Aronofsky has made a complete mess of a great story. People have said that the film is blasphemous and I have to agree with them. (Yes I am a Christian.) However it's not just the blasphemy that I don't like about this film, it's BORING!! Aronofsky has created a world where lets be honest you'd want to destroy and I'm not just talking about the way the humans were acting. The landscape was so depressing at the beginning of the film. Noah is depressing and if I was the 'creator' I wouldn't want to save him neither. He's judgemental and so unloving it's unbelievable. At no point in the film did I feel for Crowe's character, he plays him so bad. However the thing that did it for me, the thing that completely ruined the film is the stupid, ridicules Rock Giants. What was the director thinking? Genesis does talk about the Nephilim, but nowhere does it say they were made of rock and they are not in the story of Noah. However even if they were, what the film makers have done is dreadful. People have said that they are like something from Transformers. I don't agree at all. Although they are created by CGI they look like a rubbish attempt by the late 'great' Ray Harryhausen. What Alonofski has made is a dreadful film that depicts the story of Noah as nothing more than fictional. He hasn't at anyway given any acknowledgement to the book of Genesis, and all he has shown is that he can make a film that can and does bore people to tears. And just to point out, I got through three quarters of the film and couldn't be bothered to even see the last thirty minutes.
RoboCop (2014)
OK not as good as the original, but still a good film
I was sceptical about going to see this film. There are far too many remakes and majority of the time they are dreadful (Total Recall for one). Actually I was quite impressed with this film. OK it is a bit slow at the beginning but after about 30 minutes it takes off and doesn't stop. Their is plenty of decent action and the story isn't too bad neither.
Samuel L Jackson is fantastic. Although he doesn't have much screen time, he certainly steals the show. Gary Oldman is also brilliant and Michael Keaton is pretty good. Joel Kinnerman who plays Murphy/ Robocop isn't nothing special (anybody could have played that part. (Weller was the best at playing Robocop end off!(
OK so it's not as good as the original. However if this wasn't a remake it would be a very good film.
Prometheus (2012)
In space who cares if you scream if you can't be bothered to run
To be honest i had no idea of the plot for Prometheus. I hadn't read any reviews and had no idea that it was meant to be a prequel to the original Alien. However while watching this movie it soon's becomes apparent that its a sequel as the storyline and characters seem to mirror the original in many ways. The movie however does not hold up to the original. The acting although wasn't too bad (for some people), the characters were just not believable. Noomi Rapace although a superb actress just doesn't deliver as the heroine at all. She is just too nice a person, to play this part (she was best in her millennium trilogy role.) Most people have said that Michael Fassbender played his role really well. Well they may be so, if playing it well means he looks like he's constipated through the whole movie. Lance Henriksen's acting as Bishop in aliens was far superior. As for Charlize Theron, What the heck was she in this film for. Her character did nothing at all. She is billed as one of the main actors in this movie, and yet her character has no meaning whatsoever. If that role hadn't have been written it wouldn't have lost anything whatsoever The plot of the movie was pretty lame and could never hold a candle to Alien. The Original the crew can't escape the creature because its on board the ship. In this movie, their really isn't a creature for most of the film. Just a some slime, that could have been 'snot' and that was meant to be scary. Even when the creature is first seen, it more resembles a plastic snake with a gaping wide mouth. If I didn't know that Ridley Scott had also directed Alien as well as this film, I would have assumed he hadn't even bothered to see the original film at all. What a waste of time and good money.
