Exceptional genius
7 April 2020
I've never missed a show and I miss it when the season ends. With every new show, John Oliver proves his intelligence, stylishness and talent. He leaves me speechless how many deficiencies he finds in our society that are not on the front page, but still it is sad that they exist. He seems the only person noticing and caring about everything and everyone. I am wondering why HBO does not give him more time. He is forced to talk so fast that doesn't give us time to absorb the news. His show should be in prime time, not at 11pm ET Sunday. HBO give him more time - he is the only one you have! There is nothing wrong for viewers to have lower level of intelligence, but don't rate 1 star just because intellectually you are not up to him. It is a pity that there are so many people brain washed who don't make the efforts to open their eyes and be objective. I wish John Oliver and his show to be forever.

Real shame and failure!
7 July 2019
I don't agree with most of the reviews. I can't believe this film won Oscar! For what? What incapable director will choose this kind of actor to play Freddy Mercury? He is a short, small, thin man, with artificial teeth, can't be farther from the real person. Awarding Malek an Oscar for this role was an offense for the good actors. And it shows again and again how everything in Hollywood is arranged in advance, unfairly. Not to mention the chaotic editing. Malek is not natural, he over-performs, not convincing at all. He just makes faces and mimics without showing any emotions. Bad actors just cannot show emotions. Most of the times he is ridiculous, leaving the viewer in wonder if this is supposed to be a comedy. The story is artificially decorated, forced and unreal. It is part of his life but it doesn't reflect the real life of Freddy Mercury who left much bigger legacy with his voice and music. Why important parts of Freddy's life were neglected? Does it have anything to do with Hollywood greedy to make money? Where is the art in all this? Unfortunately, the people born after Freddy Mercury's death will have a wrong impression about him. He was a great performant with exceptional voice and he deserved more. This film was a real shame and failure! I prefer not to have watched it.

Very disappointing
6 January 2019
Very disappointing, plain and naïve film. Nothing real. Julianne Moore has been always a bad actress, don't know how she is an actress at all, and in this film she overacts and couldn't learn even how to open her mouth singing as an opera singer. Poor performance as always. The script is false, out of reality. Wasted time...

Beutiful, touching film
23 June 2018
The actors are excellent (especially Alicia Vikander), the scenery gorgeous, the story - moving, reconstructing the reality very well and real. It wasn't so clear what happened in 15 years jump to 1950. It shows values that we forgot in our time. I wish there would be more films like this one. It is a pleasure watching it. I loved it.

Can't be better
23 June 2018
The story is real, touching, the actors play extremely well. Jason Statham is usually an action hero, but in this film he shows that he is very good in different roles. I wish I would see him more in similar films. Agata Buzek is surprisingly good actress. I haven't seen her in other movies, but she deserves to be seen more. I watch this film many times. One of the best.

Real, touching

Overall I liked the film - the story, how was made with exception of Brad Pitt performance. He is not a good actor. I have more actors in mind that would've played that role much better - Pitt ruins the whole film! He is artificial and soulless, as if he does it just because somebody asked him but he didn't want. If it wasn't for him, the film would be great. Marion Cotillard as always gives her best.

Wasted talent and money
22 June 2018
I've been always wondering why good actors agree to play in bad films? I can't believe so much money and talent were wasted in this trivial, simple, boring kind of story. All actions were arranged, it supposed to look "ordeal" traumatizing, but it was nothing. I regret that I watched it waiting to see something real. Very stupid.

Excellent, pleasant, sweet film
29 January 2016
I haven't read anything else by Sparks, but this film impressed me. Two beautiful love stories, in different times, inter-weaved skillfully, with actors well-chosen, professionally directed, assure you time pleasantly spent. A film that awakes values and sentiments that look far in the past and forgotten. No violence, no wars, no vampires, no aliens, no stupid humor, no cruel killings with a lot of blood, no ugly sex, no dirty words. Nothing of today's reality is present in this film. I can't believe that there are still filmmakers who spent money for a film that will pass unnoticed. This film won't win Oscars and maybe it won't bring millions to the Box Office, but it touches people's hearts and reminds all of us the world we want to live in. I wish I would know the crew, to make another so beautiful film, based on my novels. Films like this one are hard to find. Watch it and you will never regret! It may make you a better person...

Big disappointment
8 November 2014
I expected more serious film. It is just full with modern digital effects, far from the truth what really happened in Pompeii. The millions funded the creation of this trash were wasted. The purpose of the film was to show artificial digital effects, not so successful, and cruelty because this is the way to make money in our time. Cruel, mediocre, cliché' fairy-tale. By the way – there were no black slaves in Pompeii. The director blindly followed the rule in Hollywood to put one black person in the main character at any cost, ignoring the content of the story. It is really pity to waste money for such a tasteless, incompetently created film.

Beautiful, professional film!
2 August 2013
I watch it over and over again. All actors are well chosen. The director didn't waste the story - on the contrary, he turned it out in a beautiful film, which I watch with pleasure. I was afraid first that Dumas' novel won't come up well on film. But the film turned out to be better than the book. So powerful and impressive performance. Excellent work, the staff didn't miss any detail and didn't ruin the classic story. I am glad Randall Wallace did his job so well and professionally. More historic films would fill our entertainment with more pleasure and I think, would change the values of the young people of our days. Excellent!

Truthful
29 July 2013
Richard Gere is the best as always. The story is not so easily clear, for who is not in these circles. But what everyone could understand is that this is what happens in the real life - the rich and powerful get away with everything, the life goes on as usual and no one of us - the small people, knows what happened. They have the power to cover everything and to save themselves. We can't. This is my opinion but I am obligated to write 10 lines. So, I have to say more - actually, recently I noticed more films that show the bad people to get away and not to be punished. Finally the film industry started to reflect the real life.

Excellent, pleasant film!
29 July 2013
I watch this film many, many times, at least once a week, and I always feel such a pleasure. It is a rare script for our time. There is no blood, murders, brutal exposed sex, violence, cruelty, sadism, vampires, lesbians. All those things that inundate the screen in these days purposely. Just beautiful fairy-tail, well written story, with beautiful actors and actresses, shot in stunning, amazing locations. What is better than that, to watch a film without counting the dead, ferociously murdered people? For some it could be a naive film, but it is a film, one on thousands, shot in the last years without violence and crimes. This is one of the few films that you can watch and relax and enjoy it. I wish there would be more films like this one. Thank you to the writer and director who gave me that pleasure. Make more!
