Simply awful
25 November 2022
What a waste of everyone's time. This film is so bad, it defies description.

The acting is bad, bad, bad, especially from Henry's girlfriend Sophie. Have you ever heard a French person speaking English as a second language?

No trace of a French accent at all.

Henry just looked too old to be a hot movie star.

The part about Veronica's boyfriend writing a book where a spider falls in love with a woman was so ridiculous and then Henry suggests changing the spider's role to a man and that is somehow "interesting". Henry who hadn't even read the book, decides to make it into a movie. Seriously?

The obligatory kangaroo shows up of course, plus a boomerang just in case you didn't realise it's an Australian film and then to top if all off, a kangaroo "aggresses" one of the characters.

If you value your time, don't waste it on this piece of garbage which was nothing but a waste of colour film.

Fairly awful
31 December 2020
Thought this might be a fun time wasting rom-com, but it was awful.

Sarah Hyland just played a more annoying version of Hayley from Modern Family and appears to have a very limited acting range. She had no chemistry with the male lead.

The story went nowhere, there was no plot, no suspense, no surprises.

A complete and utter waste of everyone's time and not in a good way. Not even funny.

Utterly awful
15 March 2020
I am so disappointed with this show The two leads are well known much liked actors and I honestly don't understand how they could be involved in this rubbish. I have had and raised three childrren myself, often under difficult circumstances but I could never imagine myself or anyone I know speaking to children the way the parents do in this show.

Firstly, the two leads both look too old to have children this young. Secondly, babies and maybe toddlers keep you awake at night and you maybe drive a crying baby around the block in the car hoping it will drop off to sleep, but kids the age of the two in this show ? Never! Utterly ridiculous.

I am no prude but I am horrified that anyone thought it was okay to have paernts talking to children by constantly swearing at them and showing them your lack of control. The father uses the F word and the C word with gay abondon and it is very offputting.

I certainly cannot see this awful show lasting longer than one season, if that.

Likeable show
21 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I really want to like this show because I am fond of hospital dramas. I do like it but I have to complain about the soundtrack. As soon as two or more people begin to speak, loud music immediately plays over the dialogue. It is so distracting, it spoils the enjoyment of the show Particularly irksome is the drum "music" and drum rolls they throw in over the top of people conversing. I wish someone would tell producers and directors that in real life music does not constantly play when people are talking.

The characters are likeable and there is plenty of top notch acting. Dr. Frome is particularly good. The stories are pretty interesting all round. The main character Max is a bit unbelievable in that he never seems to have a shift end and doesn't appear to sleep. He is always on hand in every department at the hospital whilst at the same time organising and reorganising just about everything in the hospital whilst undergoing treatment for cancer.

The oncologist doctor is very nice and likeable and you wish good things will happen for her. You are probably meant to dislike the ED female doctor and to wonder just how many errors she can make before somebody notices and she is called out.

I would love to recommend this show but for me it is spoiled by the irritating soundtrack.

Amazing series
6 September 2019
I wasn't expecting much as I began to watch this series as I had been very disappointed in the movie made years ago. I have always loved the gallows humour of Elmore Leonard and this series is riddled with it.

This show is amazingly good with near perfect casting of actors. Everyone is just right in their roles. Ray Romano is surprisingly good as Rick. I say surprising because people tend to think of him as a comedian but here, he proves to be a really good actor in a sympathetic role.

The female villian is really good and you get the impression that she is genuinely fond of Rick despite her murderous nature.

The show moves along nicely and each and every character seems to have an interesting back story. Some moments are laugh out loud funny. The two leads couldn't be better, especially O'Dowd who is spectacular.

Two seasons just fly by with never a dull moment. I just didn't want it to end and cannot wait for the third season.

I would highly recommend this show .

Good police show
15 August 2019
I am almost finished watching this series and hoping there will be more than one series.

Set in Italy with dubbed American voices but the dubbing is very well done.

Alba, one of the main characters and daughter of the main policeman is a very attractive girl and plays her part very well.

I had no idea that racism was so bad in Italy. It features regularly in the show regarding the black policeman. The fact that one suspect refuses to talk to a coloured person is pretty awful to watch. Interesting stories and good acting all around make this an entertaining show.

If I have one complaint it is the soundtrack. As soon as people start talking, they play really loud music over the dialogue. It is very distracting and annoying and really spoiled the show for me. This seems to be a trend and is happening in a lot of tv shows and movies lately. It is a trend they need to drop.

I would happily recommend this show for anyone who likes police shows. The scenery is realistic and not glamorous. There is mild profanity and some nudity. All in all, a good show.

Britain does these shows so well.
28 January 2019
I love most British shows and this one was great. The lead character was a great choice. Easy on the eyes and a very good actor. I found it impressive that each time he received an injury, the evidence of it was visible for a long time afterwards unlike so many shows where a person gets badly injured and next time you see them, the marks have disappeared.

The actor who played the lead female role was almost unrecognisable as Lyndsay Denton from Line of Duty The way she spoke was decidedly different too.

The whole story was gripping to me, I thought it was very well done. Some people have mentioned implausible plot lines and that may be the case but we watch to be entertained do we not? I don't mind a few furry plot holes as long as I am entertained and drawn into the story as was the case here.

I really felt for the main character. In the last episode when he is in an untenable position and nobody but his ex wife seems to believe him, his frustration, fear and disappointment are all clearly visible on his face. Fantastic acting.

Just enjoy and go along for the ride. Everything you thought you knew will be disproved and there are twists and turns aplenty.

Be prepared to bite your nails to the quick in the last episode.

Unbelievably bad
30 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Usually Netflix have great shows so I had no qualms about selecting this. How wrong I was!

The acting was quite simply the worst I have ever seen. The leading man had no looks, no personality and was totally unappealing. I have seen better acting in school plays.

One young guy in it was constantly turning his head from side to side to show he was confused and running his hands through his hair to denote stress. Just awful.

The lead character's wife is possibly the worst actress I have ever had the misfortune to see. Faced with her husband's infidelity she throws his clothes out of the house and screams at him "how could you do this to me?" and then goes to his lover's house and tells her what a wonderful father he is and that she forgives him.

At the crime scene, the bad actress and her equally bad husband lift the yellow tape, grab a baby and then steal the car seat from the dead woman's car and calmly drive off. Nobody stops them. Is this movie a joke?

I just wish I could give it no stars.

There was not one person in this whole mess of a movie who could act at all.

This was honestly the worst movie I have ever seen.

Not as good as the previous seasons
4 November 2017
I feel there is something off in this season. The writing just isn't as good as the previous five seasons.

Someone should start a drinking game where you toss back a drink every time anyone says "I don't give a sh--" and take another drink anytime someone says "What did you just say to me?" I have lost count of how many times these two phrases have been used.

It doesn't seem plausible that the three named partners would be so lost at the beginning of this series. Surely they would have known that every case Mike touched would be tainted and liable to be litigated.

The prison scenes don't seem all that realistic either. How did Gallo get to be allowed outside and to be at the fence when Harvey was leaving the prison?

Donna has always been full of herself but she is gradually becoming worse and completely unlikeable. She is just Harvey's assistant, not a lawyer or even a paralegal yet she always seems to think she is the smartest person in the room.

Jessica and Donna must both have homes with whole rooms set aside just for their clothes. They never wear the same outfit twice. It doesn't seem possible that Donna would earn enough money to have all those clothes. At least Rachel has worn the same blouse a couple of times and her clothes seem way more appropriate for an office than what the other two wear.

I loved the first five seasons of this show but sadly, I think it has jumped the shark. What a shame.

Not too bad
6 August 2016
I bought this movie on DVD for my husband who loves anything to do with horses. I wasn't expecting too much, but it was better than I thought it would be. If I had a complaint, it would be the continuous music playing in the background throughout most of the movie which proved to be a bit distracting.

There were a couple of singing performances in the movie which were pretty good.

I didn't know either of the actresses who played the sisters and neither of them are particularly attractive, especially the blonde one Nicole whose black hair roots were showing throughout. The guy who played the love interest was pretty bland and it was hard to see what both girls found attractive about him. As he was supposed to have plenty of money it was hard to figure out why he didn't just buy the struggling farm.

The horses were odd looking and seemed to be carrying a lot of extra weight which made them look quite awkward.

The interaction between the two sisters was interesting as they had been estranged for most of their lives. All in all, fairly predictable and I couldn't give it any more than five out of ten. If you can buy the DVD for under ten dollars, go for it.

Dick Francis: Twice Shy (1989 TV Movie)
1/10
I wanted to like this, but alas.
31 August 2014
As a longtime fan of Dick Francis books, I was very keen to watch Twice Shy. What a total disappointment this was. The acting was simply appalling. Ian McShane is absolutely dreadful in this and totally wrong for the part of David Cleveland. The woman who played the part of Donna Keithley was so bad she was actually funny. At one point she sees a car on the road from inside her house and screams like she has seen a monster. The so-called villains are hilarious and utter lines totally devoid from reality. This movie has one of the funniest death scenes ever shot on film. Has to be seen to be believed. Having previously watched In the Frame and thinking nothing could be as bad as it, I realise I was wrong. Twice Shy is much much worse. Do yourself a favour and do not watch this as it is approximately ninety minutes of your life you will never get back. The clothing, hairstyles and telephones all look very dated in this production which considering when it was made is not surprising, but watching someone having to extend an aerial on a phone before they speak looks comical now. The computers look huge and bulky too compared to how they are today.

More than a couple of plot holes
16 August 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this old movie on TV last night and did enjoy it. However, I noticed a couple of what I think are plot holes. After the woman who runs the dating agency is murdered, the police go there to question the receptionist/secretary. One wonders why she is still working there when the owner who is divorced from the suspect, is dead. Why would she still be working there, who would be paying her? Also in giving a description of the suspect, she lists his estimated weight in pounds which would never happen in England. It should have been given in stones.

I don't believe the murderer would be killing women in his own residence. Someone would surely at some time see him disposing of the bodies.

The ease which which the wrongly convicted man escapes from the prison hospital is laughable. Surely he would have been handcuffed to the bed at the very least. Also laughable was the teacup shown with all the undissolved capsules in the bottom. Would they not have floated or been felt with the teaspoon whilst stirring?

When the convicted man goes to the killer's place and bashes the blonde head with the tyre iron without checking the identity of the sleeping person, wouldn't that be attempted murder because he didn't know the woman was already dead? Also why would he go directly there which is the first place the police would look for him after the threats he made in the courtroom?

When the real killer threw the body in a sack into the back of the potato truck, the sack was tied. After he entered the back of the truck looking to retrieve his tiepin, how come the body was all mixed up with the potatoes?

The film held my interest but the above situations seemed a bit unbelievable.

A complete travesty
9 February 2011
How do I begin to describe how truly awful this movie is. At the beginning you have four children joyfully hiding behind a sofa to surprise their father when he comes home from work. The two oldest kids look to be in their twenties. The sight of them trying to hide behind the sofa looked ridiculous. None of the four children could act, they were very very bad. The mother couldn't act either. By the size of the two oldest kids they could easily have overpowered the grandmother and escape, but no, they didn't even try. The grandmother gives them a list of rules they have to obey whilst they live in her house but the rules are never revealed to the audience, so why even mention them? When the kids start to get sickly from their incarceration, powder is obviously rubbed into their faces, hilarious. My opinion is whoever made this movie stole the name of a novel and then proceeded to ignore said novel whilst making this dross. The incest in the book is not mentioned nor even hinted at and the ending is ridiculous. Avoid this so called movie at all costs.

Don't waste your time
6 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Simply put, this movie was awful. It was nice to see Alan Young again having not seen him since his Mr. Ed days, but the acting throughout was dreadful. The young couple who rob convenience stores should have used the money they stole to enrol in acting school. Their so-called acting has to be seen to be believed. Also, I doubt a very old man like the grandfather character would have been so accepting of homosexual behaviour, most old people brought up in a different era, are not accepting at all. I almost choked when Ernie says to the gay guy, "your eyes dance when you talk about Lance". The fact that this line rhymed, made it even worse. His daughter's husband's lines were totally unbelievable and he said them like he was reading from the script. Most of the dialogue didn't ring true, the acting was abysmal so my advice - don't waste your time or money on this dud.

Bad mad movie
13 October 2008
I can't believe how awful this movie was. It is the kind of movie that makes you feel guilty for watching it because it is so, so sleazy. Okay, Mini had a dysfunctional mother, but that's no excuse for her despicable behaviour. She seems to have no sense of right and wrong and no conscience whatsoever. All the characters in this movie are so thoroughly unlikeable that you really don't care what happens to them, you only hope it happens soon. For the life of me, I can't understand why Mr. Baldwin would stoop so low as to appear in something as bad as this film. Surely he doesn't need money as badly as all that. The constant voice-over from the talent-challenged actress who played Mini is a constant annoyance. I think you are supposed to feel sorry for the step father character, but I sure didn't. My advice to anyone would be save your money, don't waste your time and don't watch this dreadful movie as you will surely feel cheated.

Brilliant acting
4 December 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe how good this miniseries was in light of the fact that Nicole Kidman has been in some stinkers of movies since then. This is her best acting ever. One mistake I did notice though is when Kat goes through the garbage chute and is in the tunnels below the hospital, she kicks off her shoes and kicks them aside as they are impeding her progress. When she meets up with Hal in the tunnel, the shoes are back on her feet. Did anyone else notice? Wonderful story, very well acted. I thought Nicole's character was very well written and she showed an amazing strength of character considering her upbringing by her very cold mother and grandmother. Arkie's character reminds me of certain men I have observed in life who use their good looks and charisma to lure women into doing their bidding and have absolutely no feeling for these women and no remorse for the terrible suffering they cause. This miniseries will stay in your mind long after you have watched it.
