Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)
Strange but Excellent
At the beginning I thought this was going to be a strange and bizarre experience that I would not like. It was strange and bizarre, but developed into a fascinating story that I thoroughly enjoyed. The blood didn't look real, but more like watered down red paint. The blood was plentiful though. I turned my head more than once. Beyond that, I would recommend it to anyone. Johnny Depp has a surprisingly good singing voice as does Helena Bohnam Carter. the children in this film are terrific and my applause to the casting director in their choices there. The sets are dark and gloomy, but perfect for the era and locale in England. Anyone want a meat pie? I'll be Marie Calendar meat pie sales go down after seeing this movie. ha-ha-ha
Harsh Times (2005)
Harsh Times? - To sit through this piece of trash
If you enjoy inner city Mutha #&%^&#$ four letter words "Dawg" as every other word in the dialog, shootings, stabbings, blood and guts, and "let's get stoned", "lets get drunk and lie to our woman", then you will love this movie. That is the theme of the entire movie. I don't mind foul language at all. I don't like it to be the entire script. If you don't, you will hate it. If you are going to see this because you like Christian Bale, don't. His character has no redeeming qualities at all. Eva Longoria is the only decent main character in the middle of all this garbage because she is in love with one of the main characters.
Superman Returns (2006)
Overall Pretty Good
I liked this movie quite well. The Lois Lane character needed a little more testosterone. I like the actress, but the casting could have used a little help. The Star of the movie was a great choice and I look forward to more sequels. There were several scenes where it is obvious he is digitized and looks like animation. There are a few flaws with continuity and the editing is a little choppy. I loved seeing Eva Marie Saint (North by North West). She is one of my favorite actresses of years gone by and I wish she had gotten more screen time. Perry White should have been a little more gruff, but overall the casting was done pretty well. Then, of course there is the cameo by the television Jimmy Olson.... What a treat!!!
Las Vegas (2003)
A Good Solid Show
I don't know where people come up with "It's Boring". This isn't the best show on TV, but it sure isn't the worst. And some of the worst are rated as "the best". This show is funny, fast paced, and interesting. All shows need a chance to develope. I, for one, try to watch it every week.
All Over the Guy (2001)
A Great Tortured Love Story
This is a fun-torturous love story of 2 imperfect people who, despite themselves overcome their emotional difficulties to "find" each other and realize that they ARE worth the love they feel. I recommend this to everyone. Of course there is that "Grace" type (like that of Will & Grace) to add some humor and her own style of insight.
The Matthew Shepard Story (2002)
A great Story for a tragic incident
Why does it take something this idiotic to create such a fantastic story. The fact that this story is true, is truly sad. Stockard Channing and Sam W. did a great job portraying a couple torn over the senseless loss of a son. The fact that Matthew Shepard was portrayed as a less than perfect human was well done. To demonstrate that we are all imperfect, but deserved to be loved for the beings we are. God loves all of us, and anyone who say other wise is Wrong, Ignorant, Stupid, or Blind!
