Once Upon a Time in Wonderland (2013)
Very disappointing
I will never get that hour back. What a terrible looking show. Did they hire a film school class to shoot this project? The green screen work was very obvious and looked horrible. There were times where the cast looked like they were floating down a path and not walking. I watched this show with my son who is a high school senior and in his words "I play video games with "better renderings than that". The look of the show totally took away from the story. ABC I don't know what you are thinking here but this is really terrible. Next time hire some real producers and camera crews to make your show look good.
By the way Jafar in wonderland? Really?!? Back to the drawing board on this one guys.
Fair Game (2010)
Painfully Slow After the first Hour
As a movie (not a historical documentary) this is so very boring.
You the viewer, expect some chemistry to develop between the two characters but not. if you are looking to re-live history maybe you will like it. The move seems to start strong but falls off about half way through the picture. Not sure if the director had a lot shot and was trying to squeeze in his justifications. Or if the movie was going to be too short a run time so they filled it with "fluff shots" to make the run time.
This is not just one man's review. I went with four people to see this movie. We were all looking at our watches waiting for it to be over.
If you are looking for an entertaining movie, this is not the movie you are looking for.
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004)
Holy Fog Filters
OK it was a very fascinating concept. It pays homage to the stylings of the 1940's era of film and sci fi. On these notes I liked it. My 8 year old loved it.
However, I don't think they used that much heavy diffusion in the 40's. The heavy haze and fog looks more like a way to blend the live action seamlessly with the CG environments. I found it very distracting but I guess it was the only way to make the environments blend properly and look like actual sets and locations.
If this is where the future is going then we need to re-examine who is steering the ship into the future.
