Música (2024)
A good rom-com, Hilarious and Heartfelt
I have always been a fan of Rudy's work, especially the awkward puppets videos. I was excited when I heard about the movie and it was pretty much exactly what I thought it would be, heartfelt and emotional with lots of random laughs.
The chemistry between the 2 main characters is very evident. The scenes that they share together are very well done. All of the actors did a great job at really selling this movie.
The script was written very well, especially the hilarious parts. I can't recall the times I actually laughed out loud at this movie. Especially the part when Rudy got shot.
My favorite part by far was the ending. I often get sick of happy endings in movies. Rudy and Isabella not getting back together was so perfect. I love it a lot as I feel it's just like my relationships. Pushing people away and then having to live with the consequences.
The way that he used the pain to fuel his career and future was really well done. And it ending with them still being friends allowed us to feel good even though it may not have turned out as we all hoped.
All in all Música is a very good rom-com that is both hilarious and heartfelt.
The Bear: The Bear (2023)
Arguably The Best Season Finale Ever
Man can these writer write fantastic episodes. And even more can these actors act fantasticly. This finale is excellent from beginning to end, and always keeps you on the end of your seat.
We get to see build up of building the restaurant this entire season get paid off in beautiful fashion. However, of course things can't be perfect for long. Starting with an employee abandoning his station to go smoke crack.
After that, all hell brakes loose when Carmy gets stuck in the walk-in, making Natalie and Sydney hop on the line with Richie running expo. It's amazing to see the entire restaurant come together during these 5 minutes of hell to make sure that everything is run smoothly. This chaotic sequence has you on the edge of you seat through the whole thing as it never stops. The music really helps sell this incredible scene.
After this scene, we truly transition back to Carmy and watch him break down while in he freezer, living back his entire life up until this point. Camry breaks down to apologize to the team for being in a "stupid relationship", not knowing Claire is listening to the whole thing.
You get to see the emotion in both Carmy and Claire as their relationship breaks apart. Amazing acting on both parts sells this amazing scene.
Finally, my favorite scene of the whole show is Richie yelling to Carmie through the door, as we can see both sides at the same time. We watch both of the characters, full of emotion, as they enter a passion filled screaming match, which is all to familiar for this show.
The Bear wraps up season 2 so will with this incredible episode that really showcases the emotions and troubled lives of the people in this show.
Yesterday (2019)
Fantastic Premise, Mediocre Execution
When I first heard of this movie and saw the premise, I was excited. I new it wasa very interesting concept that I knew could really work and would be fun to watch. However, after I watched the movie, I was a little disappointed.
First of all, the acting is quite bad, with Lily James feeling like the only person in this movie who was a actually acting. The cast did not seem to really care about their lines or the movie in general and left the movie without much emotion for what should be a drama.
Secondly, it feels like this movie would have made a better shot tdilm than feature length movie. It bores you through a lot of the movie with the high parts being really awesome, but the low parts being super boring.
All in all, this movie was cut short of being great due to the bad casting and poor writing.
Interstellar (2014)
Super Overrated- The ending ruins an already mediocre movie
I was excited to watch Interstellar for the first time as I heard so many great things about it. However, I finished the film very disappointed. The film has a very slow start that makes you wanna turn it off 20 minutes in as nothing really happens. The plot is super confusing and doesn't even really make sense. There is a bunch of science and space jargon throughout he film that is very hard to follow. And ultimately, the ending of the film was not good at all. I was so confused when Cooper entered the black whole on to end up behind a 4th dimension bookshelf. This isn't who black holes work and is just really weird if you truly think about it. The one thing that really bothered me about the ending was that the movie itself couldn't even explain the plot device it used to guide the movie (The bookshelf). It also gives no explanation as to how Cooper ended back up on earth a hundred years later. All in all, Interstellar is a very confusing movie with a terrible ending, and is ultimately very over hyped.
Baby Driver (2017)
YA ROMANCE MEETS CRIME DRAMA
Baby Driver is what you would get if a YA romance and a crime drama had a baby (no pun intended). Ansel Elgort stars as a young getaway driver who just wants out after he meets the girl of his dreams. Lily James does a fantastic job as a girl who just wants to get away. It's both amazing and painful to watch as the right people are caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, which stops their possibly beautiful romance, just like a modern Shakespeare tragedy. The supporting cast does a fantastic job. Kevin Spacey plays a crime boss who is both brutal and sympathetic to our main couple. My only problem is how much plot armour one of the main characters has at the end. All in all Baby Driver is an amazingly written and directed film and my personal favorite Edgar Wright film.
