Lucky Louie (2006)
Raunchy but Hilarious
Sorry huston huddleston from Sherman Oaks CA, you were obviously watching HBO's L Channel - that is one of HBO's channels that broadcasts movies and episodes in Spanish. If you watch it on regular HBO or the 4 versions, I assure you the show is in English.
But I think if you have any degree of prudishness this show wouldn't be for you. Basically this is the kind of comedy Roseanne would have put on in her prime, if HBO gave her a show. The characters are working class, struggling to keep themselves above water and basically crudely real. Not everyones family is this way - but I sure have encountered them in the course of my life. Basic message Huston is that you don't have to mind your P's & Q's to be decent humans - even if your life is a bit rough around the edges.
Amores perros (2000)
gritty and great
Fantastic movie! The actor who played Octavio did an amazing job. What I liked most about this movie, is how well it contrasted to American movies that deal with Mexico. I thought Traffic was very good, but Amores perros surpassed it by far. It showed levels of Mexican society, other than the corrupt general in the drug trade, and the simple honest poor peasant. We Americans mostly think of Mexico as the desert border, Tijuana or a resort that the Love Boat stops at. But through this triptych like story, we see the dichotomy of Mexico City, in much of the same ways we used to see the extremes of New York City in some of the better 70's movies. As long as those dog sequences were truly monitored by the humane society, I have nothing but good things to say about this powerful movie.
So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993)
guilty sin
My favorite B-movie. If you're a referential person you'll be quoting lines from this movie into your golden years. "Head! Pants now!" I also love the cameos of Allan Arkin, Steven Wright, Phil Hartman and especially Charles Grodin. I can't tell you how many people don't realize Mike Myers plays the role of the Father in addition.
