Night Train to Lisbon (2013)
Profound, Touching & Intelligent
Just the kind of movie for me. A great sense of pleasure feels the depth of the subject and surprisingly suspenseful continuity. Great reviews from regular ordinary viewers like me and I need not add more that will top them. Great story interspersed with historical context. Cinematography was elegant, the subject timeless. Acting and casting superb. This will be a classic for sure. My final comment is addressed to professional movie critics who gave so low reviews, a testament to the fact and confirmation to my not being swayed by so called professional critics. This movie was amazing & deserved better.
The Clapper (2017)
I Love This Movie
Nice Title graphics. Heartwarming story. Good acting, good casting, loved the music. A salt of the earth movie.
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002)
A Psycho-drama Thriller & Comedy in E Minor
Chuck Barris bares his soul. And you see the trauma and the dark secrets of childhood. As with his Gong Show and other Games show, Barris injects the absurdity and cloud with the puzzle as to his CIA fictional past. I will not believe any bit of it as true but it does enhance and was the necessary ingredient for a successful story. I hope Chuck is happy now and has peace. I wonder-what happened to Penny? I liked the movie and I gave the movie a 7.
The Pianist (2002)
Excellent-Polanski Hits Again
Unbelievable luck of The Pianist. Great Story, Cinematography, Acting and of course music. Brody delivers a fine performance. Could be the best foreign film for 2002-if classified as that. A fine movie that will be a classic.
About Schmidt (2002)
Life at the Crossroads
A fine movie about a career person who devoted his life to his career and did not know what to do when retirement comes. It is a movie about aging and the emotional turmoil that happens. About relationships-when one , at a later age has to face what has come about what he treated as least important-now becomes his life. Entertaining movie also as the trashy but hilarious family his daughter is to wed to provides some subtle comic relief to the serious subject of the movie. Great if your over 50 and for the introspective. "I woke up one day and I'm as old as shit"-Chuck Barris GQ interview.
Amargosa (2000)
Fine documentary, not to be missed by those artistically inclined.
Amazing story of a one of a kind. Testimony to the the concept:that art is a need. An artist do what one does-not for any motive but for the pure need to do (the art). Martha's story is an amazing testimony to the human spirit and will. A New Yorker, ballet dancer, artist-at the latter part of her life sets out for a new horizon. Setting herself out in the desolate crossroads of a death valley isolation-and creating a variety of artistic endeavors that knows no audience at the outset. Just a need to do. This movie is a great reward. A story to be told-and appreciated by the like. To drop a name-Ray Bradbury's presence provide the necessary legitimacy to the film.
Frida (2002)
Well Done
Awesome photography and artistic cinematography concepts. The story telling is excellent with great insight to the Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera personalities. Selma Hayek will definitely be respected. Her talent here outshone her body.
Basquiat (1996)
For The Artistically Inclined
Great film. A Classic amongst true story genre. Basquiat was and is the classic and archetypal artist. The movie portrays Basquiat as the artist as it is still known To-day. It is no wonder great actors such as Hopper, del Torro, Oldman & Bowie appears. In this ever changing world, tommorrows artist may be from the rich and the priveledged class. But Basquiat to-day remains as is Joplin, Hendrix and the likes. My generation. Movie to be greatly appreciated by artists and those who understand.
