The Fall Guy (2024)
5/10
The Fall Short
23 May 2024
Mildly amusing Hollywood tripe. A shallow stunt man action comedy romance which is average on the action, mostly mindless on the comedy and a romantic element that could have been more. It was kind of screwball stuff, maybe aimed at teens because I could barely sit through it. The soundtrack was completely top pop Taylor Swift and Kiss type stuff, utterly boring. Had a few humourous moments, the romance was mildly entertaining and then action was mostly crap but occasionally was cool. In fact my favourite part was seeing the real stunts in action during the end credits. Girls will enjoy it for the shirtless star, who is admittedly looking really buff.

Not something I would want to watch again, i think I feel dumber now.

i just loved it for the 455 Oldsmobile beast

This won't do well at the cinema. But for those who see a lot of movies it is worthwhile. The cinematography is great. A slow burn to a solid climax. It's a little slow at times. Then the killings start to happen and it's game on. Acting is fine. Scott carries his character really well, evoking a connection to the viewer. John Snow's character is a bit daggy this time. He did well enough but I couldn't get past his terrible beard and accent. I don't think he was well cast. The plot is solid enough, tension and action solid. Some cool old cars and a reminder of how simple life was pre-internet.

not a must see, but glad I saw it

I give any movie I can sit through at least a 6. This gets a 6.5. Acting was solid all round. It tugged at my emotions a few times, dog lovers will relate, 7/10 for that. It has some good violence but mostly that was kept on a leash and gets a 6.5/10. The story was a 6/10, kinda weak ending and it would have been a 5 but it gets a 6 for being partially original. It was fine but could have done more with the romance and even some sex/nudity would have upped my rating. Also was just unfortunate that the setting was often amongst the homeless, really not pleasant or entertaining to immerse in. So yeah, a competent 6.5/10 for me, watch it with your best friend.

just wanted to know where it was going!

It was fine. Good tension, kind of a creepy, awkward, claustrophobic setting. Acting was solid. I kept watching just to see where it went and I was satisfied. Clever use of sound effects really makes it unnerving.

Anything that keeps my interest almost all the way I rate a 6 or more. This was like a 6.5, they made the most movie they could make for the budget and setting. Some bits were a bit slow, but it wasn't long before I was captivated again. Could have been a 7 if there was more violence or nudity haha.

Recommend watching on a cold, windy night, perhaps with a nip of scotch and an ex girlfriend.

Baldwin cameo and the nudity make it ok
26 March 2024
I watched it through to the end, which says a lot. Probably suits guys around my age (48) who remember Baldwin back in his prime. It's held up by Baldwin's scenes, black humour, violence, horror, twists and the sex stuff. Story was fine, acting was fine. If you don't mind getting a bit dirty and feral you will find some enjoyment in it. Ignore the haters, they're obviously seeking some pretty Hollywood big budget tripe.

Seriously these reviews and ratings need to be categorised by reviewer type. This might be a 5.3 to gen pop, but to me it's a watchable 7/10 DVD night in. For someone who has seen everything else, add it to your list.

ignore the haters, a watchable little movie

Reviewer is a 48 year old male. My review is aimed at ages 15 to 50, male and female, who appreciate many movies especially horror movies.

I can't understand why this is rating so low. Sure it's not as scary as Talk To Me, but it's not trying to be. Allow yourself to be entertained by it, it had me start to finish. Solid acting with quirky characters, great camera work, frights, and a neat little story. It's not a Hollywood blockbuster but it's not a B movie either. I loved it for what it was, so grab yourself some popcorn, turn out the lights, turn up the movie audio and enjoy a good night inn.

How can this be a -- i've not been able to sit through the first 20 minutes of other 5s.

a fun rollercoaster ride
15 December 2023
Takes a lot for me to pay attention to a movie when I'm tired after work but this one kept me going. Occasional laugh out loud moments, fun scenes, couple of twists, nice action, fit leads and a rollercoaster ride. Recommend you watch it without knowing the plot, as I didn't and it was great.

So I'm serious, don't read my extended review here just go watch it now!: It had a little for everyone, relatable teenage girl relatable teenage boy issues, loving couple in their parenting prime, some gaming elements, college life, family life, work life. Marky Mark is as fit as ever and it's an inspiration. Michelle Monaghan too, still very desirable. 8.5/10 for me.
