Religious evil
13 November 2015
Religion can be the root to evil, while Harry Powell believe himself to be the son of god, it is unconsciously his excuse to behave as he wishes. While some people believe religion could be the solution, in this case it is the cause to all problems. A great understanding about his characters feelings and temptations, Robert Mitchum shows us how it's done. Seemed as a man of belief and kindness, he shows us the nasty side of how humans really can be. The directing is out of the ordinary, too bad this movie wasn't to popular back then and slapped Charles Laughton across the face as he swore never to direct a film ever again, sadly enough since this is a masterpiece. The scenery is outstanding and warms my heart, the beautiful scene like with an owl hooting with the charming river scene it made me feel like a kid again.

Batman Begins (2005)

Face your fears or let them control you.
13 November 2015
The emotionally scared Bruce Wayne seeks vengeance and a path towards salvation to find his inner peace towards both his courage and fears, to deal with them as intended. We find that he is meant for much more than he expected. With his trustworthy and loving butler played by Michael Kane, we discover his faithfulness and kindness towards Bruce. A superhero movie that builds up to a incredible trilogy you never should avoid watching, as we get to see the most outstanding acting throughout them all, this is something you have to watch before you die. Christopher Nolan really amazed me and if you haven't watched them, decide for yourself after watching at least the first two, thats the minimum.

About a Boy (2002)

About this movie..
25 September 2013
About a boy, is a dramatic, romantic comedy which is directed by the brothers Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz. It's about a man named Will Freeman who has no interest in children, long lasting relationship or responsibility what so ever. But is in for a ride when he meets Marcus, a boy in need for a male role model and a third family member, since his mother is mentally unstable and Marcus figures, she needs a man in her life.

The actors i feel worth mentioning, who made their performance believable and shook life in their characters were Marcus (Nicholas Hoult) and Fiona Brewer (Toni Colette). Nicholas doesn't get by on cute looks, like far too many kid actors, because he can actually act and shows that child actors are just as, if not more so, capable as their elders. Toni Colette, convincing as a mentally unstable single mother, you can nothing but feel empathy for her characters mental situation, it has come to a point in her life were nothing could make her happy. She was nothing more than adaptable to her characters life crisis.

About the message of this movie, it's always hard to tell exactly since i don't think its ever written in stone, there are many views on just that subject. My view is, children of divorced parents, and how this is hard on both the child and the parent. It could also be about the difficulties of growing up in a society where it's hard to find who you really are, without following the crowd, you might get beaten, or bullied, but at least you're creating your own path.

Duel (1971 TV Movie)

Cat vs mouse
24 August 2013
A psychotic truck driver playing a deadly game on the road with an average Joe, being bored or just playing with his prey, both motives and reasons is out in the open to speculate. The soundtrack felt like it was inspired from "Psycho", it bothered me slightly because i felt it was unsuitable for the situations it appeared in. I kind of see that soundtrack in a horror picture with blood and knives, not in a road chasing standpoint. I noticed a few mistakes too many, one out of synch chasing scene where the background were a bit off, the camera man and the set workers were seen in reflections of some object. Some of the civilians displayed unrealistically behavior not to understand the victims cry for help, which I think could have been re-written into a better solution for the civilians reason not to get involved between the truck driver and his target.

This being one of Spielberg's earlier project and at the beginning of his successful career, he made the most out of the resources he had, with a low budget he manage to direct a somewhat captivating picture. What kept this movie from not going into the dumpster was the question we were brought upon, the motives, this mysterious truck driver and with a quiet atmosphere and the use of a mystery, it keeps the fire going, we are left with a few important, unanswered questions.

Porco Rosso (1992)

Not only for fans
18 August 2013
Another original idea from the mastermind Hayao Miyazaki, a picture with cute humor and stunning animation, it is as absorbing to watch as always. This picture has a very comical atmosphere, which make you grin all the way through, the background, landscape, clouds, with the sun peeking up, its all very pleasurable to watch. A cute symphony is added, adapted to every situation we come across, Miyazaki was able to create this suitable soundtrack which made the picture even more captivating. Miyazaki being responsible for directing, writing and composing, one can wonder how he manages it all, it once again shows his brilliance. The main character, Porco Rosso, is a cursed human, who now is a pig, although the only thing that the curse changed was his appearance, being a war hero he is admired by many people, a pilot, Porco is one grumpy character, agonized of what he has become, although amusing to watch. Overall, this movie is entertaining, creative ideas and a brilliant animation, an enjoyable flick.

Stop the curse

Warning: Spoilers
A heart thrilling movie with an interesting story, with a ghostly and intense atmosphere, the story in this movie makes it stick out even more. The ghastly sounds of the monster is creepy and the make up is admirably accomplished, the movie quality is not as we are used to in todays movie, however it gives an impression that its real life which adds an extra scary feeling. The composer got the soundtracks just right, perfectly appropriate for this movie, the director really wanted to creep out the audience with the cat sounds from an innocent little pale boy, and the make up on the victims who tend to move around, despite being such bad quality they figured out the camera angles to the very best points to show what need to be shown.

Girls just wanna have fun
14 August 2013
A incredibly touching film, that gives both shivers and warming emotions. At one point i swear they created this incredibly relaxing scene, were the ability for settling the mode is all in favor to the director. I got some very mixed feelings about this film, both disgust from the erratic violent scenes and the behavior, and still this enchanting feeling. Hilly Swank holds the atmosphere high and alive, pulling off playing a boy, making the movie interesting even from the start, as a character who's struggling as a trans gendered teen who wants to fit in, you start to like the character for every second. And the beautiful, troubling, emotionally disturbed Lana Tisdel, played by 'Chloë Sevigny' , who shared these intimate scenes with Hilary, which were erotic and wonderful to watch, the director composer and both the actors really made the scene spark. However, i didn't value the shifting between the mode towards the end, which was shifting way too fast. What i think the writers and director want to tell the audience, is that love has no limits, if two people love each other, there should be no restrictions, whatsoever. It's a sad but important story based on real events, it shows us human brutality and love at it's best.

A classic, charming movie.
10 August 2013
I'm usually not much for old comedies, although i have to say, this one was truly original, cheerful characters that created the comic impression throughout the movie, which made me grin all the way through. Tony Curtis is an entertaining actor to observe, pulling off three different characters in one movie is nothing more but impressive and shows that he is a very adjustable person. Marilyn Monroe who played 'Sugar Kane Kowalczyk', to me seemed to be very suitable for the character itself, she lived through the character as if it was a part of herself.

Billy Wilder took such good care of this film, able to display excitement, love and comedy all together, the synchronization among all the cast on what could have been very chaotic couple of scenes if not done correctly, but manage to control this exceptionally. The shooting location and the backgrounds gave it a very comfortable awareness which made it feel like a cup of hot coco on a cold winter day. This classic comedy gives us a perspective about some of the joy and yet, the difficulty of being a women, it's displayed positively towards the audience.

Love, lust and curiosity
8 August 2013
A work of art, as we get to familiar ourselves from four different perspectives, with the people from four different cultures, the director has unique ways to approach the audience by capturing different kinds of emotions in to picture. What i can only presume is a difficult task, other than directing, Alejandro involved more than one language in this movie, putting even more weight on his shoulder, but he managed to make it all work, which is absolutely fascinating. He as well managed to create a particular intense, heavy-panic, interaction with the actors which we rarely get to see, its very similar to a real life situation, which makes it slightly shocking. The soundtrack in this movie was for the most part acoustic, yet it manage to capture my full attention even further as the emotional scenes or the express of happiness came in to show, i think the composer had a big influence in this movie when it comes to create this dramatic atmosphere, it was all very charming. Since we experience different point of views throughout the movie, its important that it's well edited, i thought that the time among each point of view was just good enough to still keep the suspense going throughout the whole movie.

Creepshow (1982)

A decent horror flick
7 August 2013
Five different tales which include, horror, comedy and suspense. I was a little surprised about how good the effects, the zombie costumes, and other horrifying creatures, for being the 80s, i say it was pretty remarkable. I wouldn't say all the tales were amusing though, some of them were pretty boring and pointless while the other half was quite amusing, the motives for killing in some parts were just unmotivated or unknown which felt a bit uninspired and partly bad writing. There's this intense classic 80s horror movie synth/electric music, which is always exciting to get an earful of. As far as the scenery goes, it was in most parts, excellent, a satisfying old horror movie atmosphere. And I can honestly say that it was suitable actors who performed just right for their role, adapting to the either horror or comedy, i think they gathered a good bunch of actors.

Lovely
5 August 2013
A beautifully creepy brief movie, were we get a first glimpse of Henry Selick, odd and fascinating thoughts. Tim Burton is as well known for his most unusual ideas, the character and picture we get to familiar ourselves with in this movie is unquestionably deviant. The animation was somewhat new to me, odd, pointy, squeaky eyes, long, short, scary, unlike anything else i could imagine, but i cherished every second of it. I'm not certain what kind of audience they were aiming towards, i can only imagine a child would be frightened by this kind of animation and atmosphere. This movie has to rely a lot on the music involved, so choosing the right composer who is experienced in the spooky/Goth themes is important, Danny Elfman has worked with this before and showed that he is competent enough, and was the perfect choice.

Jack, our main character, lives in a Gothic world with monsters and nightmares, were death is around the corner. He stumbles upon this colorful world, which opposite to what he's used to (which is dull colors) this world consists of cheerful, living people and a colorful environment. Jack is a unhappy, dead, creature which feels emptiness and is searching for something unknown, jack, despite being a monster, he only wants to contribute and do good deeds, but doesn't realize they aren't so good after all. One can speculate if there is a moral of this story, i believe that its about not trying to change yourself, and accept yourself for who you are.

Scary Movie V (2013)

A fairly enjoyable movie to enjoy with good company
3 August 2013
Watching this with good company and i can assure you'll be amused. To discover what is in the minds of the writers who banged their skulls together writing this comedy one can speculate if they are all right. I'd never thought Ashley Tisdale would want to be associated with a movie similar to this one, however, she acted just decent enough for the 'Scary movies' absurd life atmosphere, not to mention Simon Rex, as disoriented as usual but yet so funny having brought this with him in every 'Scary movie' he has appeared in. As of young age i was enjoying these flicks already, so i felt the urge to watch it for old times sake. Needless to say, it's a laughable movie, yet a brainless one.

The Corleone gene
3 August 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This third and last was by far the most stimulating part of The Godfather trilogy, you watch in the manner of a dog does while someone is eating that piece of meat at the dinner table, you just couldn't take your eye off the screen. I imagine the communication between the cast members and the director was energetic, by observing the interaction between the actors you can't help but to think about how organized and coordinated this has been made by the Coppola. The screenwriters introducing a character that hasn't appeared on screen until this third part, its Sonny Corleones son, Vincent Mancini, Vincent is a ill-tempered, emotionless character who wants nothing else than to work with Michael, as his father, he is very impulsive which mostly leads to trouble. I'm not sure if either Vincent was written like this or if the actor himself created this version of him, however, i didn't feel like Andy Garcia could live up to his role, he extremely violent at the start but later as he climbs to the throne he becomes this calm and careful individual which to me didn't seem so imaginable.

The ongoing events towards the end that sync up with the music from the orchestra fits perfectly along with the situations that we observe, to me it felt like using all different kinds of puzzles that didn't come from the same box but still fits elegantly. Brilliant and creatively done by the editors.

From what i have noted, it is that the further in we follow Michael throughout the trilogy the dark it gets for him, he is accepting more and more responsibility which puts everyone he cares for in danger, his violence and decisions is affected by his age, but he only does what he thinks is best for his family which could very well be the worst. You could speculate if there is any moral of the whole story, because of all the bad things he has ever done in his life, he had to grow old and outlive most of his young family members, maybe the moral of the story is, that crime never pays and you reap what you sow. It could be a lesser percentage that would agree that Michael becomes more entertaining to observe the older he becomes, he open up his tough exterior and we stumble on a regretful old man who just wish he could take it all back just to keep his family safe, or, even burn.. in hell.

If you can't help someone, at least don't hurt them.
2 August 2013
What is most outstanding about this movie is the directing, David Lynch being able to capture the details of the time that it's set out to be, a moderate feeling of how judgmental and how cold our society are capable of and shows us who the real monsters very well could be. It's were everyone tags along, kicking the outcast while he's down and no one will be pointed out or blamed since they are hiding behind each other, metaphorically speaking. It's a great cast you can't deny that, what I loved about it was that I actually felt that I was watching a movie from the past, it didn't feel like it was from the 80s, just make the picture and sound quality inferior and you could fool anyone. The great idea behind the black and white picture gives us a dull, yet magnificent indication of what kind of mood they are trying to distinguish.

Of course I can't leave out the acting, Anthony Hopkins performance is excellent, the way he displays his characters compassion shined bright right through him, and understood completely what he was assigned to do. John hurt, playing John Merrick aka "The elephant man" portrays in a convincing approach the beauty and sincere sides of the elephant man who also is a very deep and intelligent man, still so very shy and anxious.

Why?
30 July 2013
This has to be one of the worst and tasteless comedy/horror of all time, there was not much effort put in to this movie, it was like everyone who worked there just fooled around on the set and editing, it just turned out to be yet the most senseless thing iv ever watched.

There were many noticeable mistakes, and not to mention the editing were some cheesy fade over effects, or not to mention the circles that appeared on the screen like they are telling the audience were to focus their attention.

The music/sound effects were as bad, the music sounded as if it was from some kids show from the 70s, there were cat sounds from a cats mouth who didn't open, and this went on constantly.

I guess what bothered me about it all was that, you are able to make a good comedy/horror movie, but if you are going to do that you should at least get things right, create some funny situations were there's both a part of decent humor and a bit horror, like a mix of sugar and salt and you can make some delightful liquorice. The only reason i didn't give this a 1 was because the main theme song (Although were used as a loop) were beautiful.

The idea of the concept is marvelous but the story doesn't add up
27 July 2013
What is astonishing about this movie is not the story, the acting nor the characters, but the scenography, it's sleek, graceful, refined. The elegant gadgets that were used were creatively designed and create the impression of a futuristic utilities. What is amusing to visualize just as in the movie 2001: A Space odyssey, if we watched this 64 years later, how we would react to the past idea of the future, its a fun thought. I believe there could be other actors more suited for the main role, as i felt Tom was just going through the lines without anything out of the ordinary, blank. On the other hand Andrea Riseborugh (Victoria) really did upstage Tom, clearly she had a better understanding about her characters emotions and delivered a credible performance. If the story was as spectacular as the design we'd have a terrific movie.

For the sake of family.
25 July 2013
There was no way dodging the second part, i had to get it over with to continue my journey through the top list and to get it crossed off my list in overall is a relief. The minutes went by slowly as the movie was in motion, we had to witness these important moments that eventually would be useful information to fill the question marks or speculations.

I didn't realize that this character who was played by Robert De Niro, a quite, hard working, good looking guy but i never thought that it possibly could be De Niro. I wouldn't have imagined that this movie would be half as interesting if it wasn't for De Niros character as a part of this movie, it felt like his part was something that had to be explored eventually. The brutal side of Michael was slightly reduced as of the previous movie, his character was more powerful than he were violent. Although, Pachino keeps on this particular continual troubled face until the very end, he brings this deep and heavy feeling to his character which sets the mode for the whole movie, and the look he express to some individuals, just like he already killed them in his mind 3 times already. I enjoyed the aspect and the quality of this movie, although it was secondary to the first one.

The puppeteer
23 July 2013
At three different occasions, i tried to watch this whole movie, this was about 4 years ago.. I don't know maybe i was too young and impatient, but at every single try i never got through it, and i wanted to get through it all because everyone loved it so much and it had good rating and reviews. A few days ago i had to watch it, the whole movie, 3 hours. At first i was thinking "oh sh*t", but i just had to get it over with.

The performance of these two as i saw as main characters, Marlon and Pacino delivers an outstanding performance in adjusting to their characters battles as well in handling their emotions progressively. If we focus on Marlon his character i believe not many people could pull off, you can see that he really is stuck in this character, he looks worried constantly and troubled but at the same time a bit calm and bitter. His accent make's him even more interesting and the way he talks jagged tone. If we take a look at Pacino's role, I'd say this is irreplaceable as well, from the beginning who is a bit innocent and tries to not get involved, but the exceptional we see further on about his character evolves to this emotionless devil. What is so fascinating about this movie is how one person behavior is changing as the person itself goes through violence, sorrow and grief, what these situations turns a person in something he least wanted in this world. But as he goes through it, it becomes like nature to him, it's like it was in his veins from the start, he just needed it the keep spreading like a disease throughout his system. This is what is so bizarre until the very end, to wonder how he got so emotionless.

I've never liked movies that were all about the Mafia, because i've never liked their motives. Which in the end it's all about money, respect and family, but this was something different.

Blessed with a curse
20 July 2013
The story was well built, i felt like it had a good purpose. It was about strength, peace, war and love for other creatures and as well hate. The main character has a goal and a journey in front of him and we get to witness the obstacles he faces throughout the path. The main character is a brave and honest young man, who is struggling to keep his strength up most of the time, but is burden by his curse. As we progress further in to the movie you come to realize the rivalry between the different kinds of races we witness, they just won't get along. But still this movie had these moment of greatness were you felt an big urge to pay even more attention to it and you forget how uncomfortable you lie in your bed. There are a few fight scenes that i thought were very well done, it was these sound effects other than the usual that made it spark a bit (not literally) and the fight were not too long or made you bored in any way. The music had a bit classic feeling, or kind of typical music in movies made by Asians, don't get me wrong i loved it, they made the music match well in to the movie. Of all the anime/Manga iv watched one thing always catch my interest is that the animation and sound effects is always astonishing, in one way i really can't explain so good, the voices don't fit it but it still works well, I'm not sure why. I usually don't watch anime/Manga but my friend made me watch this movie, i don't dislike anime its just that in most cases it isn't something that interests me.

When love crushes you
18 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The first thing i noticed in this movie is, the camera angles are very good, i never noticed this in movies before but this time i did it shows what needs to be shown in the situations that is appearing and give us the information about them.

The beginning of the movie gives a very lonely feeling, a comfortable feeling. My impressions of the soothing sounds, when they are at the bar sitting there, sipping on their drinks, wooden shoes clapping on the floor, pages being flipped, i enjoyed these sounds. The music i would say have a classic feeling, which i like and is very calming and strengthens the emotions in this movie.

This man who is the main character, named Shigeharu Aoyama, is a very kind and loving man, he and his son are very close. They get along, help each other and are open to one another, its nice to watch. His wife died 7 years ago and he haven't had a wife since. As we get further in to the movie, Shigeharu is tired of being single and what got him going was that his son mentioned that he is starting to look old and should look for a wife. Shigeharu and his friend creates a fake auditioning to find the perfect wife for him, were only girls can apply. This leads us further on and as Shigeharu plan works out, he finds what he thought at the moment the perfect women. But Asami is not who she seems to be, Shigerharu is blinded by love and don't realize what kind of a person she is.

I was excited from the start, because i thought that this movie really could be something fun to watch, something different from what i usually watch, turns out i was wrong. I don't get Asians and their way of horror, they show us to odd ways to see pain and suffer that it just becomes to bizarre and unlikable, there is no excitement left in it and what you are left with is disgust, these the last things you really want to know about ways to suffer painfully or die.

I eventually didn't see what the point of the movie was as it got closer to to end, 6/10, i couldn't give it a 5 because it started out great with a good atmosphere.

Different and genius
17 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I recall that i tried to watch this a few years ago, i was 15 minutes in to the movie and thought what kind of crap is this, and i didn't watch it again until last night, maybe i was to young to understand anything. But this movie had me from the start this time, it's about this dysfunctional man who as he stated 4 times he has been staring in to the sun for to long then started to see patterns and numbers more clearly. I ask myself what is so interesting about dysfunctional characters, it's because they think differently and wider which makes it so much fun to watch.

I love the feeling that not many people seemed to be involved in this movie, it's like it's this person against his own bizarre mind, it really makes you feel isolated and trapped in this movie with the small apartment, the black and white and the feeling like he is living on his own planet, population: 1. Everything merged together with the music, character, directing and editing, it was like a one piece puzzle. I loved this movie.

Mind blowing good
15 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't expect this movie to be this good. At the beginning it had sparks though, i really felt this 90s feeling. They caught the viewers by their hand, you had this constant feeling that you wanted to watch every scene in the movie, it was always interesting and had something, like comfortable sounds, music, character, fights, sex scenes, it never got boring. The story went like a straight line, it got somewhere, not taking detours.

This movie was about two girls, one who seemed to be a housewife with an asshole husband who mistreated here (Didn't get the impression he physically abused her) but was never home, worked a lot and we rude to her). The other girl was a very distant girl who seemed odd and had been through something bad, it's safe to say that both were unhappy until this trip turned their lives around, at first it was bad, they felt remorse and anxiety but as time went on they started to get used to the "wild life" and just being open minded and lived for the moment and developed a very close and open friendship in the end. I actually kinda knew how it was going to end (Thank you Simpsons for that episode who you copied from this movie) but thought the ending was perfect, emotional and they chose to end things on their own term.

Pretty decent
14 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I was not expecting much from this movie, i did not even want to see it in fact. A friend wanted to see this with me and i went along with it, i thought hey what the hell Morgan Freeman and Aaron Eckhart is pretty interesting actors. I felt this tense feeling throughout the whole movie, it was like it held the viewers in its hand. I was never bored for a moment i can tell you, something always happened, and it was entertaining. Creds for the fight scenes as well, it was brutal and they really made Butler look professional in this movie, he was fast, knew the right fighting tactics and it was intense, i really liked it. Although i would prefer that Morgan Freeman would be president and give us a hint that he was playing Obama and we never knew his name throughout the whole movie, just called "The president". But Anyways, it was pretty obvious how it was going to end i gave it a 7 because as i stated above i liked the fight scenes and the whole movie was tense.

Haven't been this bored in a long time
11 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Im not a big fan of the Fast & Furious movies, but some of them are OK, and i went to the cinema because my girlfriend wanted to see this. I thought this one got good rating and heard from friends that it was a pretty good movie. I went to the cinema all ready with my snacks and drink thinking i'll have a good time based on the ratings from IMDb which i most of the time agree with. Although, this time i was very disappointed, what i thought when the movie begin and started to know what it all was about i thought "oh no are they going to recap from previous movies?" going back to an old character that all of the sudden is alive, surprise! From that moment on, i just thought things couldn't get any worse.. The nonstop shooting from cars and Vin diesel sounds ridiculous, i almost couldn't hear what he said if it wasn't for the subs, he sounded so stupid trying to sound so tough i almost laughed at him right at the spot. I was sitting at the cinema feeling this itch in my body i just wanted to run around all the chairs, i had to finish it though so i could rate it. This movie was a huge disappointment, wont ever pay for a ticket to another Fast & furious movie again it's gone far enough they don't have creative writers enough i don't get how people can enjoy this movie.
