Very funny
6 January 2021
And by funny I'm talking about the 1 star reviews - very fun to read. It's entertaining to see how many people feel so threatened by a fictional female in a fictional film. The movie itself leans heavy into the b-grade horror territory - complete with the 80's horror soundtrack and lighting. However, when it tries to blend this tone with WW2 action it doesn't quite hit the mark. Chloe shines bright in this film - popcorn silly entertainment but nothing groundbreaking or truly special. Really more of a 6-star film, only gave it a few stars extra because of the embarrassingly pathetic 1 star reviews.

Wow
7 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Did not expect much from this movie - knew absolutely nothing about it and thought it would be another mindless, b-movie, cheap horror. Wow, was I surprised. Very much a worthy watch - from the red lighting creating a sense of atmospheric doom, to the body horror homage paying respect to the 70's/80's whilst adding to the genre, to the overall slow build culminating in one terror filled, crazy ending. A real gem of a movie - so glad I came across it. The acting was a little campy, but considering what it was going for (70's/80's horror vibe) I think it was (probably, hopefully) deliberate. If the cinematography was a little more slick this could have been even better - loved the sound mixing/editing though. More like a 7.5 - closer to an 8 but just not quite there. Really enjoyed it.

Decent
29 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Not a detailed review - thought it was a decent film that would have been elevated by more experienced actors. The one thing I really appreciated about this film is that it wasn't some remote village or isolated community, the scary part was that the cult was in the middle of the suburbs, hidden in plain sight. Nice idea, but perhaps not executed as well as it could have been.

Give it a go

Honestly cannot understand the low scores (1's and 2's), because while this isn't groundbreaking in the slightest, I'm happy to come across an unexpected little horror gem like this. These days every movie is hyped or has 5 trailers etc and there is no intrigue in sitting down to watch something completely unexpected. It was predictable and had the same horror tropes we have all come to expect, but it was no less entertaining than any other mainstream horror film out these days. It may not be for everyone, but it was certainly a decent enough watch.

Average watch if you have 90mins to kill
22 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Have you seen 'The Game'? Did you love the way the thrilling concept played out? Then this will be a big disappointment - a watered-down version of that film. Using a limited set/space and only a few actors can produce a gem of a film . . . when the writing is solid and the actors can carry the movie. This had neither. It was entertaining enough to kill 90mins of time, but nothing special - if you decided to skip it all together you wouldn't be missing much.

Could have been so much better
22 August 2018
The premise is intriguing, and you can tell it tried it's darn hardest to be a successful supernatural, suspense drama/thriller, but this film just could not weave together these elements well enough to tell a captivating story. The actors were great, but the writing and character development was lacking. The cinematography and grand setting was beautiful, but was not accompanied by a well written story. The first act had promise, the second was questionable and then the final third just fell flat on its face. By not layering successful elements of supernatural horror in a consistent method, the final act's horror reveal, which should have been thrilling, just look plain weird. I was really looking forward to this movie, but it failed to deliver a decent film despite having all the right ingredients.

Please don't bother

Too often people will see a mediocre movie that really isn't half bad, with things such as "that's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back" thrown around. I've never used those words before, even after being Punk'd by half of Hollywood into watching Movie 43, so when I say "that's 2 hours (or 1 1/2) of my life I'll never get back", I mean it wholeheartedly. There was nothing redeeming about this movie; the acting was terrible, the special effects looked like the pranks I would pull on Halloween when I was a kid & the editing was horrible. It was a straight forward horror plot - person gets hurt, person seeks revenge - but it honestly looks like the kind of movie you make to pass a high school assignment, maybe even worse. I took one for the team here by watching this, please don't let my sacrifice be in vain - DO NOT BOTHER WATCHING THIS!!!
