12 in a Box (2007)
Very Different and Enjoyable Film.
We had been looking for some films that appeared Different to the Formula Driven Rom Coms, and Sci Fi Movies' of late, and Discovered this on Amazon, and it is fair to say we thoroughly enjoyed it, a really Clever, Different, well thought out Film that was well worth a Watch for anyone. We would Recommend it to anyone wanting to watch something very Different to the normal stuff put out these days, a really enjoyable English Farce with plenty of Laugh out Loud Moments, as long as you don't watch it with your arms folded and a sulky look on your face because Miranda isn't in every second of the Film, she does however play a small but important and very funny part in it, but if she wasn't in it at all, it was still very much worth a watch. Really, Really Enjoyed it. Great Fun.
Last of the Summer Wine (1973)
An Absolute Classic
I was very lucky in that my Father was an Agent for Artists and Actors, and as he had a cousin who worked for the BBC, he was asked in the early days to provide several Actors for a new BBC Sitcom called Last of the Summer Wine. From then on, on many , many occasions, I was able to watch the crew filming in and around Holmfirth, and join the Actors in conversations during the many many hours of downtime between shots, as the most difficult time when filming was the waiting between shots, as it used to take at least 30 minutes to get everything ready, camera movements, lighting, screens etc, just to get 10 seconds of Film. I have to say that despite her on screen character, one of the nicest people on set was Juliette Caplan, who played Pearl, a lovely lovely lady, who was always pleasant to everyone, no matter who they were. In contrast, Peter Sallis, was a bit of a loner, who rarely joined in conversation between takes, preferring to sit in his named chair, and do his crossword, which he did avidly, he wasn't unfriendly, just a bit weary of it all, and I think he found the whole process rather boring. Bill Owen was a seasoned Pro, and whilst mostly friendly, could be a bit "precious" at times, but a lovely Man most of the time, and Michael Aldridge (Seymour Utterthwaite) was a delight. You have to remember that the Actors were getting on a bit, and the weather could be nasty at times, add to that, the constant waiting around, and you could forgive anyone for getting a little fractious. I will always remember my time with the cast and crew of LOTSW with great fondness, and feel myself very lucky to have known them all and spent so much time with them. The fact that my Dad was getting 15% of what they earned had nothing to do with it, lol. For my part, I will always remember a scene that I was at the filming of, and I remember it like it was only yesterday, of Bill laying in the back of a Lorry, singing "Joe the Carriers Lad", whilst it trundled down the lane, (The Heavily Reinforced Bottom) absolutely wonderful, and it just summed up the feeling of the show for me, classic, and it always brings a lump to my throat every time I see it, as it brings back so many wonderful memories of those times, I could write a Book, I have so many wonderful stories, but they are precious to me, and so will remain mine alone. It was a Privilege.
