Very Beautiful but stupid
4 February 2007
It is stupid to talk about this film seriously. It is a total stupid picture about history. Not more than a comic-strip. It has nothing to do with reality. If we Germans make film about erotic it is always total stupid. Thats a great problem. It is not possible to make a seriously film about sex and drugs and rock- roll - because everybody here this it is only a game and not a real way to go with intelligence.

The first scene in this film- father - mother and naked daughter shows us all. Only artificial - stupid without any felling or telling about a true story. All characters are only like in the Muppet's show - but this film should be no parody!! If should be slapstick it would be better- Only the journey to India and the naked are girl are good--- I've been waiting for the German teen girls who are sleep with David bowie in his Berlin time. Would they be shown so stupid too?

Gespenster or about to be cool in the German cinema
12 October 2005
"Gespenster" Question of to be cool in the German cinema

There are not many German films in the last ten years, who have made me so interest. Yes, the problem of the most German films are in this film "Gespenster" too. He is on some places to uncooked to be good to see. Special the figure of Toni (Sabine Timento) is too cool. But thats is in German films always so. Everybody must to learns this coolneß - is the realism in this films. Thats difficult to understand. But in this case it makes some sense, because she steals and she lies - she is the kind of girl is better you never love it, because you lose it. Thats not clear for the other girl Nina in this film. She love her - and she would lose her. But Nina lost everything. She will play with soft emotion and a sad feeling. There is no way - but you must take it said Herbert Achterbusch for twenty years. Thats so often the way it goes in German films. Why? Nina (Julia Hummer) is not inside of the laws of society - the is outside - and there she have no chance. This films tries not on every place to gave her a part inside. Thats one of the problems - the stupid break with conventions - the criminal fascination. Throw it all away - and go nowhere! But the actress plays this difficult part very interesting. On the other side - there the parents - who are the pendant to the two girls. The have a car - a hotel suite - the have money and live in world with music of the opera. But the film stand always in some distance to seem. There is no much explaining of them.

In the center of this film, there is one scene you will never forget. The two girls got to a casting. And there they should say how they find together. In this scene Toni will lying on. She said a fantastic story-has nothing to do with her. And then Nina will say the truth. She said it in an introversion way. There is no exhibition in it. She looks to the bottom and said what will happened for here. Thats a great moment. In the next scene on the party with pictures in red this feeling is going on- than Toni goes away...

Okay, The film will end - in the German way of coolneß - rubbish - here the circle of sadness is closing. But there was a moment - where is happening something else - and this moment was important. He is more than German coolneß - and this moments are rare in the German cinema in this time!

First flight

Mornoes early film is not often shown. But it is an interesting film - not perfect. She will be growing up later - but you can see important thinks for the first time. Monroe is singing here first DADDY song in this film and the is flirting with men in here very special and great way. I like here smile - and here great fun when she is talking to men. This is one of the rare films who she had a mother - but this mother is a showgirl too and the conflicts between than are not very great. At the end of the film there is a party with some strange elements and the film have a happy end... with not so much good ideas. Okay - is more an film for Monroe-fans but it is interesting.

Thge master of cinema pushed a great actress
11 May 2005
Everybody knows that Kubrik is the one of the great masters in the history of cinema. And his last film is a great final and nothing else.

With this film, I would say the acting of Kidman have to become another dimension. What Jane Champion or Gus van Saint never have shown Kubriks show us from her in 10 minutes. The dialog between Kidman and Cruise after they have smoke a joint is so real and important that much of my friends tell me that they were angry about her in this scene. "She is searching a conflict" they say. But it is the truth??? I think that it is not the problem. The problem is that her husband in this film and with him many people don't understand anything of her fantasies. Or they don't want understand. I think what the wife is saying in this scene to her husband is not a provocation - it's a real problem for her, too.

With her fantasies his jealous run begin - the motivation for the complete film is given and Kubrik also as Schnitzler make a story about a man. But in the beginning and again in the end in this film the scenes with Kidman are so good that here at the first time everybody can see how much she can.

Here and before in "Portrait of a young lady" in the end slumbers fill her eyes - and the tragic dimension of life become the result of it all. They details of it you must see by yourself, but never forget that they stopping of this fantasies is impossible. Because so you can understand that the end is not the end, because there is no end - for her - for him it is possible. Thank you for reading.

Moulin Rouge! (2001)
10/10
Only the best film in this century
11 May 2005
Okay - "moulin rouge" is the film who i liked most in last five years. First there is the great pop music - who have made this film to an great event. Bowies "Heros" become never a better place before - as a love song on an elephant. Secund there was a white girl from Australia -who made it tragic and comedy from one the other moment. She is so beautiful and funny that no man can ever forget here - and thats is the story of the film. A legendary story about a phantasy's in Paris - in a place who has never been there so as in the film is shown. A psychological dimension - about the greatest think in the world: LOVE. and that in a good and funny way... I love this film because he is more than all the others a film about a feeling and he has catch it. And is a film with the greatest actress in our time who became better and better...

Annie Hall (1977)
Only Great
18 March 2004
This is one of the greatest films Woody Allen would ever do. I Think is his beast one, than came Zelig, or something like this. And is a little bit better than "Manhatten".

And in the last is Diane Keaton who makes this wounderful comedy to an great moment in the history of cinema..Here nice expression of the chaotic Annie Hall never would be forgotten. In Germany the film is called: "Der Stadtneurotiker" who is a wrong title.. because much Woddy Allen Film can have this title, about there is only one Annie Hall.

Chicago (2002)
A bad taste
3 April 2003
In the last two years, there were two perfect new musicals- the first one was "Dancer in the dark" by Lars Trier and the other one was "Moulin Rouge" by Baz Luhrmann- and know this ! The story and the music came from the 70ties and they have done nothing to make it new... Bob Fosse sarcastic humor .. who many people have seen before in "Cabarett" ( this is film is only good why Liza Minnelli is in it!) again... Agressive, intolerant

uninteresting girls, they have no moral - and much fun to kill

men... what`s that ??? After Björgs great tragedy as Alma... I think it

is nothing. This Film, who became so many Oscars is a "look

back" in the history of musicals - all interesting ideas are from the

other too film. Okay, there is one scene I like very much: when R.

Gere steps in the justice-- thats funny - and the same idea like the

tango in "Moulin Rouge- to tell us a story with dancing. The

stupidest moment is. Zellweger as Monroe---oh god - she is blond

too, but thats all. This girl is so arrogant - and her mouth always

look like a kiss, she never will gave. Oh , oh , oh...

The Claim (2000)
A special snow-western
12 February 2003
This film from Michael Winterbottom was the only film I saw twice on the last year on Berlinale. It was a great event. To the story: "The change" - my wife and daughter for your gold was a great mistake, a sin, and the man who do this know this. That's the tragedy of the hole film, he never will become happy, because he is only rich (and that is not nothing but never enough). Later when his wife is come back to his town, because her husband is dead and she had no money (the film is starting her) the man goes back to comunitiy, because his house was taking from the mountain to the city. But than he lost - first his wife, who was ill, and than is city, because the train will come but it goes not to this town. At last he is dying - because he rich, with all his gold, but without society, love and power anymore. He daughter loved him but she is coming to late. He has burned up his town and dies alone in the snow.

Susan's Plan (1998)
A special Comedy
12 February 2003
I like this special comedy with much of neurotic fun very much. Susan's Plan is to kill her husband, and the film shows us many versions, how people to do it. The plan - is the problem, because you need someone who really can do it! At last it will be done by the smartest man in this film, but than came the police and will catch them all. The night on the swimming pool, with Susan the whisky and him is very strange.

A film about possibilities against realities, about the opposition between dreaming and real-life. A neurotic comedy like Woody Allens "Borris Gruschenko", where he is planning (together with the Diane Keaton) to kill Napoleon (and they kill double of Napoleon). Nastassja as Susan in one of her best roles in the last ten years. Very good is the scene, where she is sitting in the car and reading Stephen King. Then when one from her friends will knocking at the door of the car she became great fear. She said to herself, that she will reading King never again.

A film about fear and love
12 February 2003
There is this night, when a men (Snipes) and a girl (N.Kinski) go into opera and after these there are some gangsters, who want to take there money. In the same night, the men stay by the women and in the middel of it she dream about the gangsters. The fear of them is already there. Then the men loved the girl in a tender way rare shown in cinema and the wolrd become good again. On the next day, the men is flying home to his wife and they make a sort of dirty sex, where you can see, the love between same is not very deep. Then there is a completly other story, about an other men , who is very ill and dying then. At last the men and the women from the one night stand will be toghter and ther love is so much more than only for one night. An interesting movie.

Revolution (1985)
One Scene
12 February 2003
This is film complete not so good. But there is one scene I found very good. I want describe: N. Kinski played Daisy, who is fighting for a free america, but her mother is traditionell for england. On one evening, she (the mother) makes a party and invited some englishman, solidiers for launch. They come and take a "big look" on the three daughters of this lady. Daisy is one of them and her mother want that she would marry an enlishmen. In the moment, where some of this gentlemen is touching her, she hit a small american flag in his leg. He is shrieking and she is running away in her room. After this, her mother is coming to her room. Daisy is throwing a lot of things away and told her, that she never would marry an englishmen. She is so angry in this scene that you can see a little bit from the element was her father was always playing. Later she is leaving her home and went with the soldiers, who fight for a free america. Thats all.

A film about Mum and Dad
5 February 2003
There is a great quarrel between mother and father all the time.

The best scene in this short movie is, where Marie is hearing the 9 symphony from Gustav Mahler and she is dancing alone in the living room. She wanted to die and is lying on the carpet. This scene told us more about Mahler, than Viscontis film can do. Because, the reason why she wanted to die is not Thomas Manns "Dekadenz" his mixing up between eros and thanathos, his spleen between art and homosexuality. It's more easy and nearer on real life only the difference between her parents, their great conflicts. To miss harmony. She is so sad about it and the music told this too.

I like this short movie, who is in Germany and some other countries only shown together with J.L. Godards "Maria und Josef" (a very good movie about mothering).

You have enough of it all, Mr. Newton!
4 February 2003
This a very important film about the since-fiction theme. Mr. Newton, who came from an other planet to bring water from the earth on it, can not fly back, because the humans don't let him go. The tragic is, his sexuality has nothing to do with ours.

In his world they need water for it.... This special way to do it makes a repulsion by an woman, who love him. He shows her his real wet body and she is shrieking and than crying.

She try to taste him, but it isn't nice for her. Mr. Newton looks a lot TV and he later begin to drink.

He makes pop-music. For Bowie this film was so important, that the covers from the next two albums have a film-stills from this picture.

Psycho (1960)
"Psycho" is not the best of Hitchcocks movies
24 January 2003
The most people think, that this is Hitchcocks best movie, but it is only a second class horror film. ("The Birds" are so much better and in opposition to it - because there's the girl, who fights against the birds but Marion in "Psycho" had no chance.)

This film is not sophisticated or sensitive at last it is a trash movie. To murdering his mother is the most criminal act a person can do. That Marion Crane is murdered in the first twenty minutes it is a sign for the whole film... Melanie in "The Birds" will be living on. With the killing of the leading actor in the famous scene in the bathroom, the film stops and find never back. (You have exactly the same scene in the end of "The Birds", but Melanie will be saved by Mitch.)

At last: to show a skeleton of a mother with this thrill is not a part of criminal story, and leave bad taste in one's mouth. I don't like this film very much, but the music from Hermann is great.

Autumn Sonata (1978)
A complicated movie about a mother-daughter-relationship
20 January 2003
This film is in a deep way a very complicated film, because the relationship between the mother (Ingrid Bergman) and her daughter (Liv Ullman)is in a strange way unaceptibel. The daughter can't forgive her mother all her mistakes that she has make a long time ago, and the mother have this problem on and on to live only for herself in a narcistic dimension of life.

She is cold enough to her daugther to explain her how to play Chopin. The daughter have played the pianosonate wrong, but wich much tenderness, the mother, she is a great star on piano, played it without mistakes, but only cold. This two people have not really the same opinion in all the important questions of life, because the mother will always lie on and the daugther always will say the truth. But there is one point, when it is enough to hear, what the daughter say against her mother: She is her mother, that must be enough. The hate of the daughter shows us, there must be a great love too. She loved her and that she will ever do. A very important film, with a very private message.

A Strange Film
13 January 2003
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER!!!! There is a murder on the street. He like to kills girls in a forest, like tigers do. At one day he meet Michéle and want to kill her.

They drive to the forest and he wanted to start with killing but she wasn't afraid. And than she said she liked it, when he would kill her. This absolute passiv way- this masochistic answer to his sadistic desire is strange enough to stop him. She tries not to escape, she don't want to escape.

Michéle (played by Beate Jensen) is only great - the tiger could come - she is not afraid of him her problems have an other deeper structur like this cheap game of cat and mouse. This is not a Tom and Jerry movie, because Jerry loves a little bit Tom. Really, thats the only answer of his desire, she loves him and later, she knows that he is so not smart as he do all the time and after he killed two other people she killed him. But not with angry. She shows him that he has not the power, that he is the afraid person. She turns the positions, but this film has no much visitors, they don't believe her. I don't ask why.

Candleshoe (1977)
A happy film for adults, who forget their time as children
13 January 2003
In this film Jody Foster is a typical tome-boy, who acted more than a boy than a girl. She is more adult than the adults and in her point of view you must shoot first or you would be shouted. Her life is a great fight and she have no time to coming nearer with people. Thats her problem to - this fight distance - she never can give it up - and the grandmother - who talked to her see this problem clear. The other girl in this film - do what girls do - but Foster never do this. There is a strange fight between them before they like each other.

This is an adventure Disney-Film for children but adults can learn a lot of it. I think it's more seriously than "Pippi Langstrumpf" or something like this. The film played most of time in England and you can feel this. So it's the story of an American girl in England too.

A hard trash movie
13 January 2003
This is the second film with Nastassja Kinski inside of it. Its a trash-horror-movie with a strange story. The interesting moments have an psychotic-dimension, where the evil things are coming out of the mirror or something like this in the room. This are big hallucinations. There is a telepathie relation between the priest(Christopher Lee) and the girl (Kinski). I like this film but he is "pubertär" - the idea that she become the mother of the devil makes the visitor more fear than herself. That's one of the important point - this free relation to the devil is the same free relation to sexual living in a way. Kinski is more Bardot than Monroe in her liberty - but half a child in this film - and she would be it now a little bit too, I think.

Hitchock most private film
8 November 2002
This film has much to do with Marcel Proust - its about a melancholical and losing time!!! I think its his best film - and Madline before called Manderlyn (Rebecka) is that cookie, who will Proust eat ins his recherche. A complicated story about the finding of a dead girl. An obsession of a man, who can never forget! What should I say - sad sad sad.

The Birds (1963)
Scary Monsters?
6 November 2002
The most interesting question of this film is the question - why attack the birds the people? In the short story from Daphne de Maurier (called The Birds too) the answer is easy - the complete story based on the attack of the Germans on England in the second world war.

A man is standing at the ocean and see the birds a coming like airplanes. The complete english country is attacked. Hitchocks film has changed this things. Only one town called Bodega Bay was attacked and the person in the center of the story is not a man (as by Maurier) either a women. She is it who was first attacked. She has big psycho-problems with the relation to her mother - and in Mitch mother this old conflict become a new dimension. As bigger the love story between Melanie and Mitch as most the birds will attack the people. Lydia is against this love - and thats one point in the conflict who was never directly seen between the women.

In other words: The conflict between the women who are mirroring themselfes in the other has an paranoid dimension - on this place the birds are situated. They are the sign of this paranoid picture world- the are the result of the conflict for the visitor of this film. Scary is the great dimension they have - not the hole country but the hole town. This are the two points of a paranoid structur: projection and universal. - The psycho dimension become a place in reality! A real protection is impossible - because the beginning of the attacks is inside the subject - thats the reason why Hitchock let left the title "The End" in the end of this film - because the conflict in Melanie have no end inside this film. The scary monsters - the birds will be peaceful again, when she will find a solution for her conflict. We have an apocalyptic picture in the end - who is not an end - the birds are sitting there but in the next moment they can attack the people again. The sky is dark - the world is in danger.

Tess (1979)
Nastassjas best film
24 October 2002
When Polanski made "Tess" in the end of the 70ties he was very enthusiastic by himself. Miss Kinskis was his girlfriend for a time and he made the nicest (e-)motion picture with her. Some people say she looks a little bit like Ingrid Bergmann, and that is the truth. Her shyness and children speak was very great. She is they little poor girl who meet the rich and powerfull people, and in the two cases she losing. First a sadistic person fight to love her but she don't love him and in the second case the man thinks she a natural girl i nher first love, but then he knows the truth an d lost her. So far so good - you must see this nice picture because my broken english can't explain it... Polanksi made this film face to face with Thomas Hardys book. If you have any ideas to this stuff please write to me, is important!!!

Dark and good Concert
21 October 2002
This is the last concert the figure Ziggy Stardust would ever do and is very great. In a morbit, dangerous and heavy way Bowie made a great event from it. Is the mixture from darkness, powerness and loosing feeling who makes it so great. The facination of this androgyn type who is the dead and crying living and the lost of life in the same moment have very much suspense. Is exiting to see the heroic movement face to face with death. Ziggy was the heaviest creature Bowie ever was been. Mr. Newton is no more the man who sold the world because he falls on in. The space metaphysik from Bowie - who is written since today (earthling) is her on his highest point!!! Ziggy had no chance to live longer because it was to dangerous for the cracked actor himself! A great but heavy concert!

About a father-daughter element in this film
2 October 2002
With this film Marilyn Monroe at the first time she become famous. She plays the young love-girl from an older man. In this relationship, were she is more a daughter from him than his women, she become famous. She plays only five minutes in this film, but everybody would never forget this shy - rabbit girl, with the great sex-appeal. She looks all the time a little bit afraid - because its a mens world were she is - (and not her own world). A very good Huston picture and Monroe meets him again, when they would make "The Misfits".

In the first scene -where she is lying at the couch, the men looks from the top to her - this is traditional in all the scenes with her in this film - men always above!!! Its not feminism picture and she take only a part in this mens world. But as always, Monroe makes of this small part a great event - so her acting is more important than the complete film is. Thank you for reading.
