Team America: World Police (2004)
worst movie ever
this movie is truly one of the worst i'd ever seen. a friend even paid for my ticket and i want my money back. the creators of south park have taken a cue from mike meyers and now use THE SAME EXACT VOICE for every single character. it was the same tired jokes, not even close to as funny as even the worst episode of 'south park', with the inclusion of a few racist jokes here and there, a few more gay jokes, and (the favorite of the audience !) a RAPE joke. these people don't even know who they're making fun of anymore. even if you suspend disbelief and convince yourself that the audience 'got' that the racism was just 'jokey' racism to make fun of US, or 'got' the preachy underlying message that those dudes put into EVERYTHING to try to give it some kind of credibility, the jokes weren't funny, the puppets were creepy, and they couldn't even get a single laugh out of me, a person who normally laughs any time ANYBODY curses. don't waste your money, or even a friend's money.
Beyond Re-Animator (2003)
does justice to the series !
if you look at beyond re-animator as a stand-alone movie, it seems a little goofy. but as the third installment in an excellent, gory, and goofy series, it definitely does justice to the series. jeffrey combs is great as herbert west, and the development of his character is excellent. this is definitely worth checking out if you're a ran of the first two films !
The Pact (2002)
definitely an okay movie, despite megan mulally.
this movie is pretty good as far as a lifetime original movie goes, but megan mulally (who i usually enjoy thoroughly) is a comedic actress through and through. even her serious, tender scenes were acted like a comedic actress and it was hard to believe that she was a grieving mother. eric lively and juliet stevenson were both fantastic in this weepy and otherwise entertaining movie.
Strangers with Candy (1999)
one of the funniest shows ever.
this show is pure, insane genius. amy sedaris and stephen colbert are excellent. the show touches on so many taboo topics and situations, showing no mercy or self-consciousness. it's a shame that comedy central chooses to rerun crap like 'sportsnite' and the same 5 episodes of 'the critic' rather than the handful of excellent shows they could be showing.
Sports Night (1998)
how in god's name did this show get on the air?
this show is hopelessly painful to watch. i don't think anyone informed the actors or writers that this show was supposed to be a comedy. it is absolutely not funny. the actors all have no comedic timing and horrible delivery, every single joke falls flat, and it is impossible to care about any of the characters or their petty problems. the sooner they stop showing this show, the better.
