The Taking of Beverly Hills (1991)
A non-stop action 90s film
This movie is the embodiment of the late 80s/early 90s - it has all the glamour of the high-class setting, introduces us initially to a somewhat dull male protagonist who gradually shows what he is made of.
Robert Davi delivers a fine role worth every second.
If you are looking for old-school entertainment, this is the movie!
8/10.
Blind Horizon (2003)
Excellent conspiracy thriller
If you are into the genre of conspiracy thrillers/political thrillers, this movie will not disappoint you. A splendid Val Kilmer who delivers an outstanding performance, plus support from Sam Shepard and Faye Dunaway (who actually has limited screen time, but nevertheless makes quite an impression).
The plot is complex and one really must pay attention in order to grasp it, but from my point of view this is not necessarily a flaw.
Overall, a solid 2000's thriller with an excellent Val Kilmer. 7/10.
Wrath of Man (2021)
Pleasantly surprised
Guy Ritchie has definitely matured and this rare gem proves it.
A big plus - there is no liberal agenda and tedious political correctness in this movie. Just a plain, old-school action crime movie. A must-see in 2021.
Legends of the Fall (1994)
A touching and heart-warming film
Legends of the Fall is one of those films that embodies the full calibre of human emotions - love, wrath, envy, heroism, greed, depression ... The film follows closely the life of three brothers and their destiny throughout a turbulent decade of the First World War and the Prohibition Era.What befalls them is the entire spectre of emotions, depicted above.
Edward Zwick has directed a true masterpiece that leaves nobody indifferent. One gets the feeling that he/she is a ghost, observing a true human story - a feeling, boosted by the narrative style that the director has adopted.
9/10
Troy: Fall of a City (2018)
Too politically correct
Political correctness in movies usually tends to spoil them irreversably. This BBC attempt to adapt a classic story of heroism and war is no better.
Apart from that, it is pretty mediocre in terms of acting. Cannot recommend it.
