This movie gives a good insight in how a well meant act of resistance (against the German occupation in WWII) goes awry, due to incompetent and amateuristic leadership. The picture it paints of the Dutch resistance is not flattering, but it also shows how difficult it was for the well meaning members to effectively organize themselves and arm themselves against collaborators and traitors.

i thought that this was the best movie that i ever saw. it was thrilling, and you can never guess what will happen next.it simply deserves a 10.0. and 10 stars! i saw this movie in the theatere. it is good for every age group, and i give it 2 thumbs up!!!!!!

Interesting look on life, funny and sad. Not a movie for the action-seekers or the shallow. Movie follows main character (autobiography) on his wanderings through Rome and the Liparian Islands. Very nice camerawork. Simple but effective.

Despite terrible dubbing and some amateuristic scenes, the movie keeps the viewer in it's grip. The tribulations of an American GI during the Ardennes offensive and the people he encounters, keeps you riveted all the way through the unexpected ending. Great characters in a cold and snowy Belgium. I saw this movie in the early 70's and still remember it clearly. Most movies I usually forget.
