Angelina Ballerina: The Next Steps (2008)
Don't understand the bad reviews?
My daughter loves it. Innocent, sweet show that is enjoyable to watch. Characters are good and there's always a nice moral to each story. No agenda pushing. I feel like the people complaining about the accents and cgi are missing the point. Kids don't care. 10/10 from me.
And Just Like That... (2021)
Oh my God
This is worse than bad. It's depressing considering how great the original was. Kim Cantrell dodged a grenade with this one. Awful. The forced wokeness was the hardest part to take. Such a shame as it could have been great exploring Carrie and co in their 50s. It's just so bad.
White Chicks (2004)
One of the funniest films I've ever seen
If you watch this film and are not entertained by the sheer ridiculousness of it then you are dead inside and beyond help. Terry Cruz .... He just kills me in this but in fairness the entire cast do a good job.
Coming 2 America (2021)
When you think of garbage, thinking this film
Both sad and painful to watch in equal measure. The idea of remaking a movie after so long was doomed from the outset but it's been poisoned further by the woke agenda that seems all pervasive in popular culture today. This deserves less than a 1 - it's so bad.
Uncle Tom (2020)
A good documentary
I thought this was a good documentary about a subject that that rarely gets any spotlight: the black American conservative.
This documentary looks good and has a great score (so happy there were no ambient hip hop beats that are usually used in documentaries about anything related to black America!). I thought the interviews were well shot and well edited and I really liked the fact that It was shot in black and white. I definitely thought that the latter half was the stronger half, the information really started to get interesting and I felt like I was exposed to some new ideas that gave me food for thought.
The first half was a bit of repetitive and (this is just my opinion) I would have liked to have seen some more Jesse lee Peterson! I also think that it might have made it more interesting if there had been some interviews from people who challenge the narrative to add an extra dimension and give the whole thing a little more energy.
Overall though, I thought this was a good watch! Interesting, relevant and clearly has a high production value. I really wish these guys luck and success going forward. This may be the movement that saves the United States of America!
Peter Rabbit (2012)
My kid loves this
My kid loves this show and I watch with her - always weary of what is slipped in to kids shows.. must say I haven't seen anything concerning. It's a very wholesome, agenda free, fun little show. I do feel a bit sorry for mr McGregor though! The man works hard all day to have his veg stolen by the wee rabbits!
Snow White (1987)
My childhood revisited
I used to watch this on loop when I was a little girl, I loved it so much. I can't believe Netflix has all these old cannon films: it's such a treat to see this again! I have no idea if this is any good if you aren't nostalgic but I'd defo say "watch this movie" if you are looking for a fun live adaption of Snow White. It can be a little tense at times so maybe not for really young ones.
The Last Kingdom (2015)
Progressively worse
Series one was great. Series two was good. Series three was patchy. The fourth series is almost like it was made by different people. Utred Is so blond and wears so much make up he's unrecognisable. The plot make no sense and is inconsistent to the point where it's ridiculous. There seems to be no proper sense of space and time, people just turn up in one part of the country one day and then are in a completely different part in the next scene. Princess are fighting against seasoned warriors in battle and escaping without so much as scratch. The presence of Alfred is sorely missed. The tension between Utred and the Danes thst ran through the earlier seasons is totally absent. And the most annoying thing is the constant demonisation of Utred despite the fact he has saved everyone's lives over and over again. The entire thing is cartoonish. I originally gave this a 10 / 10. Have now changed to 6 / 10 which is generous. It's a real shame as I loved the first few seasons and books.
The Karate Kid (2010)
Not bad
If it wasnt a 'remake' it would have been fine: they could have just made a movie about a kid that moved to China, the fact it was filmed there was the most welcome part.
After Earth (2013)
This movie made me hate will smith
This movie made me hate will smith and feel sorry for his son.
The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)
Great
I'm surprised by how much I liked this.
Totally unexpected.
American Gods (2017)
Meh
I was giving it a go until I got to epidode 3 and they started pushing the gay agenda. Not bothering with the rest.
From the 3 episodes I saw I'd say a 5/10 was fair.
What Women Want (2000)
Love this movie
I love Mel and Helen as the leads, love the story line, the location, the support cast... this is everything a rom com should be: only morons and snowflakes will be disappointed ;)
Black Panther (2018)
A let down
Andy Sirkis is really good and the lead actor who plays black panther is also very good but man, the screenplay sucks. It's so boring. Also they may have been better off having an African director (not American) as it is cringe watching this almost racist depiction of what Americans think Africa should be like.
ParaNorman (2012)
Weird and not in a good way
I don't recommend this, especially for very young kids.
There is one scene where a dead body falls on a little kid this very strange indeed.
For those of you who notice things - look at the way the sky is animated: constant chemtrails.
Horrible.
1/10
Srpski film (2010)
Ungodly
Sickening ideas for sick minds. Remember that once you see this, it can never be unseen. Somethings should remain sacred.
Edward Scissorhands (1990)
Burtons best
Surprised that this doesn't have a higher score: one of the best films of the 90s.
If you haven't watched it yet, go for it, you won't ever regret it.
Strictly Ballroom (1992)
Strictly superb
This is a great movie and anyone who can't at least appreciate it has neither heart nor soul!
People complain above the low budget but I think this makes the movie more charming.
Look out for the stand out paso double scene with Frans dad!
10/10
Bird Box (2018)
Don't listen to the bad reviews
This is a good film, maybe not quite a 10/10
but I marked it up from an 8/10 to balance out the unfair low scores.
It seems a lot of people want their movies spelled out for them - this movie doesn't do that but if you can cope with it, I'm sure you
will enjoy as much as I did!
Acting was outstanding from John M and Sandra B.
Film is creepy but not over the top.
Netflix has done a good job with this!
8/10
Defo worth a watch!
The Revenant (2015)
Exciting
Perhaps I have over marked this to make up for the low scores which I don't feel are deserved.
This is a good film: well produced and well acted. It may not be for everyone, it certainly has an art housy vibe to it but that doesn't make it bad.
If you can watch it with no expectations and try not to become triggered by your own brand of politics. Better still, if you can forget that this is supposed to be based on true life (which I think was a mistake, this movie works better as a purely fictional story) and suspend your sense of what is possible - you will most likely enjoy this film.
It is a beautiful movie to look at if nothing else.
I say watch it and make up your own mind.
American Horror Story (2011)
Evil
A mean spirited show, don't watch it; don't let your kids see it.
Sleeping Beauty (1987)
10/10 for nostalgias sake
I loved this with a passion a child. I fully appreciate how *rap it is in some ways but hey ho... there is beauty in imperfection! I guarantee that there isn't a kid under 8 who won't love this.
Unknown (2011)
The shower scene
There is a flash back to a shower scene that shows what looks like a 70 year old Leeson pressed up against this young woman. It turned my stomach and put me off what was already a bad movie. Cheap Bourne Identity rip off.
Bridget Jones's Diary (2001)
A film with a soul
Giving this a 10 because there's nothing I would change about it.
Feel compelled to review as I can see the #me too 'ers and the PC brigade are out to disparage people from watching the movie.
Please don't listen: this is a great film and it has a heart of gold. The sequels are progressively bad but this one really does hold up.
It's well written, well acted and well directed and more than all of those things it has a soul:
Something you don't find too often anymore.
Fire and Ice (1983)
Loved it
Better than any of the 100 million dollar budget 'fantasy' films that have been released of the the last 10 years. Mature, nostalgic animation done well.
In reality I'd give it a 7/8 out of 10 but as the score was so low I gave it a 10 to help push it up.
Saw this on Amazon Prime UK.
