Justice League (2017)
Entertaining without any cinematic feel
Entertaining, but feels more like a better TV episode, than a cinematic experience. Still good for once in a while since it's so forgettable.
The forced in side-stories with Aquaman and Flash cross the same waters other DCEU movies did. Setting up other movies instead of telling this one.
Weirdest of all: If you take out Aquaman, it is still the same movie. He does nothing for the plot in any way.
You're getting better WB/DC but keep learning.
The Dark Tower (2017)
Pretty watchable as its own thing
Not a good adaption of any of the Dark Tower books, but pretty watchable as its own thing. Reminded me of old fantasy films like Neverending Story. Nice to see a fantasy movie on smaller scale in cinema again.
What I also liked was the decision by the studio not to cram in any universe building. Thanks Sony for one time not doing it.
Arrival (2016)
Good movie, but leaves you empty with the ending
Nice little sci-fi-movie, but twist and outcome seem like a better Outer Limits episode instead of a blockbuster. When leaving the theatre you'll feel a bit empty as if this - most times - good movie is missing something.
Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner do good jobs and carry the movie until the end. All other characters are more or less stale without any emotional impact. Even *spoiler* the dead daughter felt more a plot point than anything else (which - as for the twist ending - she was all along).
Good for a quiet film night at home, but not the cinematic experience I hoped for when going to the movies.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
Watchable - but "why"?
It seems okay, but when asking for reasons the card tower just falls and falls. Why is Lex doing this? What's the matter with Batmans dreams? Even "who is Bruce sleeping with" comes up. Why rushing the whole Justice League stuff without really rushing it? And - *major spoiler* - why killing Superman when you show and the end of the movie that it did not matter because he'll live anyway? *spoiler ends*
Don't get me wrong.
I don't want this movie to explain everything. I just want a movie which does work with the material it offers. Also this movie's tone is so dark and depressing. Yeah, it is somehow fresh and differs it from other comic books movies these days. But there is NO HOPE whats-o-ever anywhere. No even drops of humor. In three hours!!! This is definitely not a world where I want to live in.
It is damn cool, it is nice to see these characters finally work together on screen and it seems fresh at first. I won't become a hater but I also won't become a DC-movie-fanboy. In times when superhero movies are at the top of their powers this one's stale and mediocre.
Tie chao ren (1975)
Totally rocks!!!!!!
This movie could only be described with one word: Sweet! It's old it's stupid and the Special Effects are just too bad to be true - but her it is.
Story: Some Aliens (under control of the evil Coordinator) are attacking ships in the region of the Bermuda islands with giant robots. The only survivior of one attack is the Kai who wants revenge. Years later he joins a group which was built to destory the evil intrudors and their underwater base. They built an own robot called Maha Baron and strike back!
The music through the whole movie is the same (and its good) and underlines the stupidity all the way. I found myself rolling on the floor laughing when our hero Kai is indruduce to his "future car" which is able to drive him to the Maha Baron wherever he is or when the ultimate weapon of the humans fires: THE DELTA BEAMS!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!
WATCH!!!!! LAUGH!!!! WATCH AGAIN!!!! If your are a fan of Godzilla and Neon Genesis Evangelion ... WATCH IT!!!!!!!!! And if not ... WATCH IT ANYWAY!!!!!
Atakku no. 1 (1969)
I loved it when I saw it first and its still one of the best
I'm in fact a fan of Japanese Animation but most series are just too long or the story keeps changing to often to become a good series. Attack No 1 was indeed a long series but it just kept running and running - no boredom in sight.
The story tells us of the volleyball-player Mila (her name in the German version ... I don't know the original) and her way to the top. I loved the series when I was 10 years old and I still like to watch the reruns if my time allows it.
Long mao shao xu (1992)
Kinda funny, kinda boring
The storyline is not really interessting, but there's some chinese humour in it which I like (for exampel the starting scene when the two cops enter the department in the morning and greet everybody with something like "Uh").
Can be seen one time - but that's definety enough.
By the way: Some fight sequences and the end are not that bad.
