The Man in the Iron Mask (1998)
The Very Best Of Leo
I'm writing this to praise Leonardo Di Caprio to the heavens for his acting in this film. I didn't appreciate what all the fuss was about over Titanic to be honest. He was quite good in Romeo And Juliet, and then I found this little gem. Now I understand why people make a fuss. This is Leo at his best. I'm going to have to go away and watch it again, because it is a film that had a very profound effect upon me. The ending is spectacular. 10/10
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991)
I sadly spend too much time cowering behind the sofa!!
Great story, Great song, Great set, Great acting, gives this one 8/10 for me. I sadly spend too much time cowering behind the sofa to fully enjoy it. I really must learn not to shriek so much at all the blood!! I watched this on T.V the other night and had forgotten just how gory I actually find it!! Shame.
Goodnight, Mister Tom (1998)
Beautiful, moving, thought provoking
This has to be one of the most beautiful, moving, thought provoking films around. It's good family entertainment and at the same time makes you think very hard about the issues involved. Every time I see the "ghost of Zac riding the bike through the puddle at the end I can't help but cry my eyes out. John Thaw's performance is so touching and it is a shame he is no longer with us. Gone but not forgotten. A outstanding film. Full marks.
Pocahontas (1995)
Disney must do better
Oh c'mon Disney this film is so bad. I can't believe Disney had the nerve to say it was theirs!! What a lot of utter rubbish. I was bored out of my mind in the cinema, and quite frankly I can't understand why I didn't get up and leave. Someone had the audacity to by me the sound track as a christmas present. I DON'T listen to it!! What a boring, boring movie, why did I waste the money? Plot- feeble, setting- drab, acting- not strong enough. A flop in my book. Sorry
Moulin Rouge! (2001)
Visually spectacular, spoilt by predictability
I can watch this again and again for its great music, fab costumes and gorgeous sets but why, why, why, is it like so many other films, PREDICTABLE!!!!!!!!? ARRGH. WHY? I mean within minutes of the film starting we know someone dies, so we wait for the whole film until it happens. Yeah call me thick, I know that's the whole point, but I'd love movies that end with a real twist sometimes. 7/10 due to the plot
A Few Good Men (1992)
Edge of seat stuff that has you screaming at your TV
I was hoooked from start to finish by this movie, praying that Daniel would put Jessop on the stand. This is edge of seat stuff that has you screaming at your TV by the end. The acting was superb. Tom Cruise excelled himself. I've never seen anything quite like it. I was rooted to the sofa and nearly forgot to eat lunch it was so good. Thankyou thankyou, thankyou Rob Reiner for this movie, it made my day!!
Dirty Dancing (1987)
Noone puts that video in the corner!
A step down from Grease, this movie was quite simply wonderful. It's nice to relax and watch something gentle and light hearted. It had a wonderful song in it and I'd love to be able to do Baby's fantastic jump at the end of the film. AWWW Bless!! No-one puts that video in the corner!!
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
I'm so impressed I'm using it for a film studies essay
Oh wow what can I say?!! I don't have a criticism of this movie at all. It needs praised to the high heavens!!! I first saw it in September 2002 on video and was spell bound. The location was beautiful and the story had me hooked from beginning to end. (Orlando Bloom is gorgeous and enhances the film greatly!!) Ten out of ten and I'm so impressed I'm using this movie for a film studies course work essay at school. If you haven't seen it- go watch it!!!
American Pie (1999)
Funny as long as you're open minded
I had to laugh at this film I have to say. It's funnier the second time around. I was less embarrassed the 2nd time which possibly explains why. To enjoy it you do have to be open minded about growing up. Please don't take it seriously though!!
10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
A brilliant comedy.
Brilliant, witty, light relief sums up my reaction to this film. I could watch it over and over again!! Although it can be predictable in a couple of places, it was nice to relax with this harmless fun. Best moment? The whole film!!
