Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013–2021)
Taking it from scrubs, stepping the tempo a bit down
9 July 2016
If this kind of humor needs a baseline to be compared with, we could pick "Scrubs".

disclaimer - Overview of the plot and a review, not a spoiler.

Scrubs was awesome, quite fast on the tempo. A bit high on energy, although all the characters played a huge part of making it a good wholesome entertainment. Unlike, House -- this centers everything on just one Dr.House, and the producers needs to strive to keep it creative, no wonder; and the humor dies down and becomes stale eventually, as more episodes are churned out.

A Toned down, much awesommer TV series is this one- Brooklyn Nine- Nine. Completely done away with the chaotic monologue by the protagonist of Scrubs(john dorian), this time the protagonist(if such a term should apply) in Brooklyn 9-9(jake peralta) speaks it out in brilliant one-line revelations of whats supposed to be awesome to him, with his seriously well written characters of "buds".

Not cheesy, really.. its more like.. a perfect protégé whose ideals are "Awe inspiring cheesy Hollywood dialogues in baritone( Smoken!!!)".

Holt's objective style of humor delivery(it really helps that he is Gay), his assistant Gina's street-smartassery and sass( hippity hoppity, gangsta Pizazz(?!)) as well as Peralta's crush- the appropriate nerd Santiago, a creepy food enthusiast of his best friend Charles, and the aggressive, product of the "streets" detective Rosa, "body of a hunk - heart of a child" - Sarge Terry -- their quirks are nicely written.

the humor is quick, weird and very very quirky. You'd like this if you like humor that centers around quirkiness of stereotype- personalities. the humor is mainly driven by the characters and that they happen to be part of the same precinct, suitably gets them adjusted and adapted to each other as the series progresses.

9/10 -- keep it up!

Casual (2015–2018)
offbeat, about experimental lifestyles - self deprecation is godlike
29 June 2016
The main reason why you should watch this, if it suits you, is the style of humour about this Hulu sponsored mayhem that is godsend.

Disclaimer - This is not a spoiler, but an overview of the plot and a review of it.

Self deprecation, insecurities, imperfection - the themes that concern reality as is, portrayed subtly - mocking their own problems, mocking each other, psychoanalyzing each other - and finding comfort in each others' "issues" -- this TV series is a departure from the usual "safe-categories" of themes that producers often invest in.

Bankable for producers? Maybe not. But maybe yes, as well.

The character played by Tommy Dewey - "Alex" and his relationship with his Shrink of a sister, and the interaction of their idiosyncrasies is what got me loving this stuff.

Single mom raising a teen daughter -- Probing the fine line between an intrinsic need for independence and bohemian recklessness("California- here we came?") - almost as if no one "needs to be told" how to live their life -- this TV series with its subtle and "casual"ness about every aspect of a "kind" of life( what a kind), drives home the point and also attempts to predict with an alarming certainty, the future of interpersonal relationships between siblings and between parents and their children.

10/ 10 -- Can't wait for the new episodes. -- Only request the producers and writers to keep up humor intact, tight 'n fresh.
