Greek (2007)
Can't wait for Season 2!
This show is absolutely fantastic. It provides all the great drama and romance of teen shows like The OC and Dawsons, but it's a whole lot funnier. It's a show with morals and values, without everything being sugar coated and sanitised (ala 7th Heaven.) We don't have sororities or fraternities in Australia, and our university system is completely different, so I have no idea how accurately Greek life is portrayed. But I don't care! Because this show is my new favourite! Any writer that can make me love a racist, homophobe confederate flag-waving Bible basher must be genius.
And Cappie is my new Pacey. Sorry Josh Jackson, you've been dethroned!
When a Stranger Calls (2006)
That's 90 minutes of my life I can't get back..
This film was hands down, one of the worst I've ever seen. I could comment on the ridiculously contrived plot line, but everyone else has commented on that, so I'll just skip straight to the ending..
Along comes the big reveal moment, when the killer is unmasked and we discover his true identity and motive.. So who does the killer turn out to be? Oh, just some guy. And why exactly is this killer stalking and killing babysitters? Oh, well.. umm.. just because, really. No reason is particular.
This is the moment you walk out of the cinema, demanding "So what exactly was the POINT?!?!" There wasn't one. Sorry folks. That's what happens when you remake an old horror film, but only use the first third of the original storyline.
Pathology (2008)
Worst Film I've Ever Seen
I detested this film so much that I've registered as an IMDb user, simply to write this review! What a load of rubbish! It's a shame that the actors went to so much trouble (they all turn in strong performances) because with such a ridiculous, incomprehensible mess of a script, they didn't stand a chance. The characters lack any substance or motivation. Gratuitous sex scenes are simply inserted for the fun of it, with no bearing on the narrative whatsoever. The viewer has no sympathy, empathy or even interest in the useless protagonist Dr Grey, and the end leaves you with a great big sense of "Okay.. So what?" The premise sounded terrific, but the execution was a mess. This is no exploration of the dark realms of the human psyche.. It's an implausible load of gory crap. Avoid at all costs.
