The most brilliant, touching film in years
9 October 2002
It's hard to describe the host of emotions this film left me with. I feel it is perhaps the most concise, engaging film on the subject of gun violence in America ever made. Now, one might imagine a documentary on gun control might be a little dull... this defied any such expectations. I found myself hysterically laughing only to be brushing aside tears a moment later. I haven't been so moved by a film in many years. In my opinion, this is perhaps the most important film made in the last decade.

Sweet and Honest despite its simplicity
9 October 2002
This sweet, simple story on the surface is about the coming of age of a small town youth in the big city. But at its heart is the very honest, rarely touched upon tale of a young man struggling with the pressures and realities of first love in an environment where issues of the heart can often be tainted by lust and greed. Although the production values are low, and the setups simple, for the most part, the performances and themes are fresh and compelling.

Moving and Original
9 October 2002
This film was one of the most concise, fearless, and moving portrayals of the devastating effects of the Mathew Shepard killing that I have yet seen. Perhaps the film's most striking attribute is the originality with which its director chooses to tell the real life story.

This being his choice to use Hollywood actors to re-create interviews gathered in Laramie after Mathew's murder. Through the vast array of differing points of view, a complete picture is successfully painted which I believe not only gay and lesbian people, but people from every walk of life can connect to.
