I Actually Like It!
21 July 2006
Count me among those who didn't expect to like this movie. I'm not a big fan of comics, or superhero based movies... or into movies like Alien... so of course I had to be strong armed into watching this.

I love it, it's one of my favorite movies. Sure there is flaws, inconsistenties... big deal. It's a movie... and it's a fun movie at that. The performances are fantastic, the story is fun and it's just an enjoyable watch.

This movie is now added to our DVD collection and sits in the stack of "constants", the movies that are just plain fun that I can watch over and over and still enjoy.

The Retrievers (2001 TV Movie)

Cute fun.

I'll agree, it's not the best acting or plot, it's not intense or exciting... and I actually really like both Robert Hays and Mel Harris... but there's only so much you can do with a bland script.

Despite that, it is a sweet little family film. It's enjoyable to watch and should be a must see for dog lovers, especially if you have a thing for Golden Retrievers. One of the few films out there these day that can be watched as a family movie with younger kids as well. I think even our dogs enjoyed it, the first time we saw it on TV, our Golden was staring at the TV wagging her tail and whining whenever a puppy cried. LOL

While it will never win awards or keep anyone on the edge of their seats, for a cable made for TV movie and a light family safe movie, it's cute and sweet. You have to enjoy the antics of the dogs and smile.

Loved It!

This is actually probably my favorite of all the Kevin Smith films. I think it was a great subject matter to taken on, a realistic one for a change. I actually have never been much of a Ben Affleck fan, but just loved him in this. As for the ending, I thought it was excellent, I cheered!! Seem weird? Nope, I am just sick of romance movies where everything always works out perfect and everyone lives happily ever after.... anyone with a few years behind them knows life just don't always work that way! In real life, even the best soul mates can sometimes screw things up and lose it. Someone else on here called it unrealistic, I happen to think it was one of the MOST realistic endings to a romance movie I have ever seen. And no, I am not down on love... I am happily married to the person I believe I was meant to be with... but have had relationships that could have lasted until one small thing caused it to be lost... it may seem unrealistic to some people but to many of us who have been around the block a few times, that was as realisitic as it can get!

Give It A Chance
21 October 2002
Like another user, I was disappointed in the first episode. David Morse is one of my favorite actors and I agreed that the role seemed unlikely for him and the writing needed some serious help. However, by the second episode, we were pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed it a lot more, and it could have a real future. Sadly, in these days of a show being canceled if it doesn't get enough ratings in the premiere episode, the future remains to be seen. It may take a bit for the show to find it's rhythm... lets hope the execs give it long enough.
