Deceived (2002)
This is the sound of me vomiting
I agree with the over reviewers, stay away from this movie at all costs. Putting aside the "Christian propaganda" aspect of it, this movie just doesn't have anything compelling going for it. The plot is meanadering and uninteresting, the characters are archetypical and flat, and the acting is so bad you want to throw objects at the screen during certain scenes. When you factor in the obviously overt religious agenda ("Maybe prayer IS still relevant to modern life...") there is just no doubt that this film will ONLY be of ANY enjoyment whatsoever to the 5 people out there that actually want to hear this apocalyptical Christian babble. If you don't need a lecture on how to be saved and feel compentant to leave evangelism out of your cinematic experience then walk, no, run from this movie at all costs.
The Hunted (2003)
An unnecessarily gory waste of time
This movie has little to offer to anyone except perhaps for young adolescent boys who react to violence with "Hey! He took a knife in the gut! That's awesome! What a great movie!" The Hunted is a perfect example of Hollywood's obsession with violence for no reason. I will not mince words, this film had a great deal of violence, and I feel it served no real purpose. To make matters worse it was "cartoon" violence, in that the main characters are all but invincible, and continue fighting, running, jumping, climbing, etc. despite numerous major wounds.
I thought perhaps the movie would redeem itself in the end, surely they have something insightful to say that doesn't involve blood. Sadly, I was horribly mistaken. The end just takes the theme to a ridiculous level. If you had any problems believing the first few reels, you will want to walk out of the theater in the third act, it was just that bad.
The characters are flat and undeveloped. Worse, they were just cobbled together stereotypes spewing tired, hackneyed dialogue. I felt no emotional connection whatsoever to any of the main characters throughout this movie.
There is nothing redeeming in this movie. You will like it if you enjoy splatter movies, otherwise you should pass.
