It looks like the producers thought that they'd have a winning formula by throwing in elements from popular shows... and they couldn't me more wrong. They have totally killed off the whole Stargate premise and probably the fan base, in fact, they will not even pick up new fans because of the show's lack of identity.
What we have here is a Battlestar Galactica wannabe, mixed up with Days of Our Lives and Survivor. Yes, Survivor -- the crew has no control of their environment and each episode is like an immunity challenge -- go get air, water or whatever and you will stay on for the next episode... The producers even threw in sex and nudity for good measure... were they thinking that the fans stayed through 10 seasons of SG-1 and 5 Seasons of SGA hoping for some sleaze?
The dark environment, gritty camera-work and jerky editing made the show uncomfortable to sit through. Most of the characters were not very likable and there is no common enemy to unite the crew and the audience behind. Unless the producers put in some dramatic reworking, this would probably be the very sad ending of the Stargate franchise.
