SO CRINGE
17 November 2023
Just now watched an episode, was so boring listening to 3 people talk about their kids all the time. How on the earth can someone talk about nitty gritty of their kids and expect others to enjoy it. Somehow the show has become a show for Old people, it used to be a show for young people with a coolness factor. Now its all about Karan Johar trying to hard to stay relevant.

Also it is very boring to watch the same stars come every year and throw tantrums. The format of the show hasnt been changed either, its the same old usual stuff. The conversations which revolve around controversies are also very boring. DO SOMETHING NEW MAN!

Salman Khan is Cringe
13 May 2021
This guy is 55 year old dancing with 28 year old. It was cringe watching him on screen pretending to be half his age. And it's not even like he looks young. The movie itself is pointless same old type . Salman Khan should act his age in the movies and try something new or audience is going to laugh at him.

Favorite Telugu Movie of All Time
4 January 2017
This is a movie which makes me very nostalgic. I remember watching it on TV many times, and with each viewing the movie gets better and better like an Old Wine. Few movies can boast of leaving behind such a great legacy as this one, and still it remains very underrated and forgotten.

The story revolves around a man who time travels due to a series of unfortunate events. Though time travel is a very important part of the movie, its the human interaction and emotions that take the center stage. The concept is so unique and fun-filled that art amalgamates with commercial film making to create a unique blend of cinema. Traveling in both the past and the future is a brilliant thought, but a very dangerous one, since if badly executed it will be a big disaster. But, in this movie, past and future episodes are very well etched out and engaging.

If there is a sci-fi movie which is unparalleled in Telugu cinema, it is Aditya 369. The mother of all sci-fi in Telugu cinema. An easy 10/10.

Vikings (2013–2020)

In my opinion. better than Game of Thrones
4 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Vikings is a underrated series, even though the ratings are very good, i would still call it underrated because few seem to understand the layers that this magnificent series has. The starting episode was ordinary, showing a Viking willing to travel west to raid on the lands in the west. It didn't do much to keep me hooked to watch the second episode. I watched the second episode after many days, and then the third episode. Slowly I was engulfed by the beauty of the series and got hooked to watch it.

I have been recommended to watch Game of Thrones by umpteen number of people. And I have given it a try. I have watched three seasons over a span of 1 year and could not understand why someone rated GOT so highly. The main problem that GOT suffers is from complex and confusing subplots. In each episode you are definitely subjected to various different subplots, disjointedly. And the sad thing about GOT is that you are forced to watch all these various stories of different characters, and you don't even care about most of the characters, except maybe Tyrion Lannister.

Vikings on the other hand focuses more on the main plot, i.e. about Ragnor Lathbrok, and it never wavers from it. Ragnor becomes the main point around which everything revolves. And the atmosphere of vikings takes you in, making you verily feel like you're in Scandinavia itself. Each episode most at fast pace without unnecessary dialogue and extended scenes. Each episode is lighter enough to not make you pause and watch a random YouTube video, and its delightfully fun!

Overall, I would rate this as one of the best medieval series I've ever watched 9/10.

Man of Steel (2013)
8/10
I wont ever believe critics again.
17 June 2013
Critics have lost their credibility. Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic have lost the power of reviewing, rating, or even watching a movie from critical perspective. Why? It is because the critics are connived, conceited and paid by opposition to write bad reviews (?). We are living in a world, and at a time where reviewers review the movie to garner more traffic to their website or get more attention. Never have i ever been so distrustful of anyone, as i have been of MetaCritic and Rotten Tomatoes after watching this movie.

To Begin with, Man of Steel is a solid movie. Solid and more deeper than Iron Man 3. Sorry to compare Iron Man 3 with Man of Steel, but i think it is a fair comparison, because both are pitted against one another for the Top Earning Movie of the Year. Iron Man 3 looked like a gaudy set piece, with mediocre action, and really unexciting climax scenes. The point of Iron Man 3 seemed to be to engage audiences, and then make Iron Man more darker. Well, Iron Man 3 wasn't dark, nor did it seem anything different from Iron Man 1 or 2. In totality, it was a mediocre movie.

Man of Steel in my opinion the most exhilarating ride, the most pulsating panorama created for the screen. I didn't say it is the best movie, i just said it is breathtaking. I have never been more involved in anything, never been so enamored by anything other than the action that is wonderfully woven throughout the movie. On the flip side, the emotional connect between characters is a little less, but we never wanted a brooding Superman. We needed a Superman who can kick someone's ass, someone who we can believe is closer to god. This movie presents superman as the quintessential Avatar of God, but not at the expense of vanity. There is always a second movie to develop characters and take forward some other questions and deliver answers to those questions. I am waiting for the Sequel.

Henry Cavil, looks like Superman. His face, acting, voice etc. He exemplifies Superman. Russell Crowe was brilliant.

WE LIVE IN A WORLD, WHERE WE ARE BRAINWASHED BY CRITICS AND REVIEWS. WE BELIEVE IN THEM SO MUCH, THAT WE HAVE LOST INDIVIDUALITY, WE DEPEND ON THEM TO MAKE US LIKE OR HATE A MOVIE. THIS HAS TO CHANGE. CRITICS Don't MATTER, WHAT MATTERS IS YOUR OWN MIND, FOR IT IS THE BEST CRITIC.

Mark of Maturity
12 March 2013
First of all, no beating about the bush, Irrfan Khan is the best actor in the country. Aye, I mean better than great talents like Nawazuddin, Aamir and Ajay Devgan. This man seems to hit it out of the park again and again, consistently blowing the expectations of Indian Audiences to smithereens. This movie is carried on the broad shoulders of Irrfan, who like Ken Watanabe has become face of his country in Hollywood -- and very deserving.

This movie is made as well as it could have been made. It deserved to go to the Oscars, but the naive Indian Film authority has chosen a far inferior film called Barfi to represent India at Oscars. It is my Opinion that Indian films can never grow if every year only a big star is given Best Actor Award. If you are a big star, and you had a moderately good performance, then boom, you win the best actor for the year. I hated how Ranbir Kapoor chosen as best actor over Irrfan Khan....In Bollywood, stardom and parental influence reigns.

The movie is about an athlete, who represents India at National and International levels and win many medals and honors for the country. This disinterested sportsman slowly unravels in him a streak of immeasurable success consistently over the period of 15 years. When he retires, he falls into the dark world of Indian corruption and police, when his relative grabs his piece of land and police just wouldn't help him. In times of desperateness, Paan Singh Tomar takes up a gun to fight for his own. And the rest of the story is about what steps he takes to win over his land and take over those who oppose him. It might seem like Art Film, but believe me, this Film is TOTAL FUN. Never a dull moment, never a clichéd scene, and not one useless dialogue. This film is a triumph.

Jab Tak Hain....Khan
18 November 2012
I have been waiting for this movie a long time now. Shahrukh has been out of his mould for the last 7-8 years easily, doing films which are not his genre, films like Ra.One, Billu Barber, My Name is Khan etc. We all love watching Shahrukh do what he does best --Romance. And who else can bring out the best of Shahrukh than Yash Chopra? And this was specifically the reason why I was yearning to watch this movie. First and foremost, the music of the film was not really something exciting or mind-blowing for me. The music is definitely not on par with DDLJ or Dil to Pagal Hai. But the music is good, especially Challa song.

Today, it is Sunday and I had the opportunity to watch this movie at a local theater. The first scene came on the screen and it was set against the Military Backdrop, displaying the gorgeous landscapes and scenic beauty of Kashmir. The first shot of the film makes it clear -- it is either going to be a dud or a master-piece. Five hours later when I am writing this review, I shake my head at how it was neither a master-piece nor a dud. Jab Tak Hai Jaan is a good movie, a good movie which never tries to become a great movie. Maybe Yashji never wanted to make a master-piece, maybe Yashji never wanted to make a great movie, all he wanted was a movie which runs smoothly and tells a story in a conventionally unconventional way.

What is the good in the movie? 1. Well, the cinematography is wonderful. 2. Music is great. 3. The tightly bound script where each element is connected to the other. The scenes of the second half remind you of the similar scenes in the first half. 4. Shah Rukh Khan underplays throughout the film, and its refreshing to watch his portrayal of Samar.

What is Bad? 1. Lack of inspirational moments in the film. (Romantically inspirational) 2. Entertainment factor declines in the second half 3. A prolonged Interval and Climax. 4. Bang! We all wanted the movie to end like DDLJ, with a bang, but it was missing.

Watch JTHJ with an intent to watch a cool and stylish flick which will definitely be a great date movie with your girlfriend. Don't expect any heart-wrenching emotional story full of excitement like Dil to Pagal Hain or DDLJ.

Star Trek (2009)

New Style of Film Making
29 June 2012
I was not a big fan of JJ Abrams, but always been drawn to his movies, be it Super 8, or many others. Recently, I have come to understand that world has run out of stories, and its quite true, we have seen every kind of movie that can ever be. What makes JJ Abrams great is the fact that he is trying to tell the same old stories in a completely different way through subtle nuances and techniques that produce a kind of strange/awed feeling while watching them.

Star Trek, I have to say, is a solid franchise. Something we have to be proud to be making films on. And who could be better than JJ Abrams? None. But, the film wouldn't have been so good if not for the Special Effects, Music and all other departments collaborating properly.Casting was great. Music was top notch, and acting was good too. Zoe Saldana was HOT. All pieces fell together into places.

The story is well, something, we all know. But, the treatment is fresh. Kirk and Spock share a very good chemistry on screen. In 1990s and 80s it was Star Wars, Aliens which captured our imaginations, in SCI FI genre, and maybe ET too. But, this film could well probably be the Star Wars for this generation, only if the continuing parts are well made.

Emotional saga filled with heroism
11 February 2012
The Last of Mohicans is a remarkable story of a man, whose destiny envelopes lives of many others, and stands out as a burning message thrown out onto the world. From the beginning to the end, the movie sings only the song of freedom. It depicts how every creature, every race is craving for freedom, and what happens if the freedom is prejudiced by some greedy men. But as every wise man on earth says, troubles are not forever, a brighter day shall come, and this movie gives this message too.

Three mohawks are on their way to can-tuck-ee, in war-torn America. English and French fight each other for the land. A party of British soldiers and two daughters of a general area attacked by a group of natives in support of french, who kill almost all of the British. But these Mohawks, trace the natives and come out and kill them. They rescue the two girls, and an army officer and take them back safely to the fort where their father has been commissioned, and in the process there brews love between Hawk-eye and one of the general's daughter. The French are already bombing the fort and are sure to take over it in a few days. The remaining story captures the efforts of Hawk-eye and other mohawks to save the general's daughters and escape.

Acting wise, Daniel Day-Lewis nails it. Brilliantly Inspirational Acting. Kudos. The movie never bores you, it is a very thrilling ride into the world of natives, and it shows that natives have a lot of great culture. The background score is really good, one of the best I have ever heard. I would recommend it to everyone on this planet.

Had Fun!
5 August 2011
I had to watch a movie on a weekend. And it had to be "Cowboys & Aliens". Frankly speaking, the trailers didn't capture my imagination. I thought it would be a boring movie. Just before watching this movie, I might have watched Indiana Jones played on a Television channel, and yes my mind was properly set to accept a Cowboy movie.

When I entered the theater, and as movie started playing, the first scene was that of Jake lying on ground, fainted, with a strange gadget on his hand. Then he wakes up and fights with a bunch of cowboys on prowl. The music played, Jake's Theme, really grabbed my ear buds. It was really cool. Jake goes to this town, and there he's captured by the local police. Aliens attack, and take away people. Jake and few more cowboys go out to rescue the people taken away by aliens. This pretty much sums up the story, if you are still reading it.

What really amused me was how well the movie amalgamated a Sci-Fi related theme(Aliens) with Wild West, and it was done quite well. The aliens never looked out of place or unnatural, nor did film look any more modern because of all the alien weaponry, it still retained its rusty wild west look and feel. It was as if Clint Eastwood met E.T., not so epic, but pretty damn good. As you might be aware, this film had lot of hype going about before its release, and it has lot of fans and good will. Expectations were other-worldly, and maybe it didn't reach up to the expectations of some people. But it deserves more than 7/10, it made me sit through out with excitement and gave me happiness and hence I respect this movie for whatever it is.

Deserves Respect
7 March 2011
Have you ever wondered why all the Narnia movies instead of being well made and entertaining still receive lashings from critics and poor ratings? I wondered it always, and it seems like a conspiracy. The First was good, the second was better. This one is good too! What else can we expect from the makers? Should they make it look like 'Sin City'? :-) Well, they are trying their best, but are beaten to the ground by really poor reviews and collections.

This movie(Lets talk about the movie now), is a long journey into the depths of Narnia, a voyage to root out the evil from the land. Only two folk from previous parts are there now, and a really frustrated lad in Eustace. Caspian is also present. And a fun ride awaits.

Visuals are great, and engrossing. Do watch it, and don't bother about the critics.

Denzel Washington Show all the Way!
8 December 2010
Long time ago, maybe 10 years ago when movies were full of magic(not in literal sense), when I was a child, I used to watch a good movie and sleep satisfactorily at night with blank mind, peace and happiness. I have seen many movies which failed to bring that sense of feeling in the last 3 years, but when i watched this movie recently I was overwhelmed with peace and satisfaction, and the heroism depicted in the movie etched an lasting impression in my mind. The Story is simple, a tough guy who is hired to protect a girl, and starts loving her as his own daughter, and then she is abducted by a gang which trades in human lives and kidnapping. How the tough guy avenges the girls' kidnapping forms the rest of the story. But No! No! Story might seem simple, but it grips you and keep you glued to every emotion.

Well, the music is mind-blowing. And especially the music at end with a Tribal touch to it rouses inspiration and strength in everyone. 10/10 for music.

Denzel Washington, keeps you transfixed every single second with his flawless performance. He adds so much authenticity, reality to the characters that you can't explain his performance in 1000 words! Blockbuster action movie, a must watch for sure!

It was a Documentary! Was it?
24 November 2010
I was eagerly awaiting this movie release, and once in movie hall I started eagerly looking at my watch at regular time intervals. Long long ago, when I first heard the likes of songs like 'Hairat' and 'Tujhe Bula Diya' etc, I was totally blown away and I decided to watch the movie. Tujhe Bhula Diya is my favorite Hindi song now.

Why was the movie so slow? Well, even the comedy moments were dragging and movie lacked tempo all through. It was not a bad movie, it was not good either. And considering that Ranbir was one of my favorites among the current generation actors, it was a total disappointment. Will you believe me when I say that the lead pair of this movie always roam around in Designer clothes. Even when in Hospital they wear designer surgical wear or something. They try to commit suicide in designer clothes. Well, their clothes are always new, and well they must be living in world of luxury where anyone who wears non-designer cloths is an outcast.

Well, Ranbir should have chosen a better movie. And please don't try to emulate Yash Raj. Yash Raj is 90's thing, now it is out of trend. Well, it was a documentary of two people trying to commit suicide, wasn't it?

Instant Classic
22 November 2010
Well, the movie was really engaging and brilliantly made. Haven't seen an Indian movie with so much depth and purpose, and believe me I mean it. I loved it.

I was reading some reviews, while 90% of reviews were positive, the remaining 10% reviews were truly conspiring against this movie. And would you believe when I say that many teenage girls have actually questioned Bansali's lack of use of Colors, Dancing and Singing. Well, they are teenagers and what can you expect from teenage girls other than singing-dancing romantic moods which they expect to be reality.

Reality, my friends, is quite different from the nutty gritty rom-coms like Dilwale Dulhaniya Lejanyenge, where a hero(no pun intended) comes flying, singing, dancing and just takes away the girl with him. This is not what reality is like. Reality is painful and we better open up our eyes and face it.

This movie is all about Reality, how a Guy faces all odds and decides to die with dignity. This is what is Guzarish. This is what Bansali has created--A Grayish World full of colors of human emotions and magic. Hats Off. Nuff said.

Fight Club (1999)
Recommended for watching twice
9 November 2010
Was the title of this review grammatically correct? Who cares? I don't give a damn like tyler durden. Just finished watching the movie and I am so excited as to write down this review that I cannot express in words.

Fight Club is not your typical action fare full of car's smashing, bullets launching, and characters dying. It is neither a psychological thriller in the real sense. And I don't think it can fit into any genre for that case. Well, it is mind-blowing movie is all I can say. And I have seldom watched movie as intelligent as the fight club.

Edward Norton, a guy who is nameless, suffering with Insomnia, lacks excitement in life. Numerous things he tries, but nothing to any avail. But, one day he meets Tyler Durden, a dare-devil, and brilliantly different person. And then they start a Fight club. A club where people fight each other. This changes his life. Slowly the fight club goes popular and more and more people join until it becomes a significant organization. The first project of the club is 'Project Mayhem'. But Tyler keeps the narrator(edward norton) ignorant of the development of the project, and one day leaves him. Why has tyler left his friend with whom he created Fight Club.

The first rule of the fight club "Go watch it twice" and the second rule is "Go watch it twice"...

Seven Pounds (2008)
Why doesn't it ring in the ears of Academy?
24 August 2010
The last time I had ever seen something like this movie was quite a while ago, I think it was "Dead Poets Society". Well, now, this movie is something beyond "Good", "Superb" etc. This makes me think, and this makes you think I am pretty sure, unless you really don't want your brain to think. I confess that I am not much of an emotional person, but this movie made me cry, and I was totally in awe of Will Smith's character.

People take unimportant things in life very seriously, they worry over petty things like money, shoes, ipod's, and even more idiotic stuff, but never do people realize that these things matter the least. Look at people who are dying this very moment, who are ill with cancer, who can't get up from their beds, do we ever realize how fortunate we are? When I ask people, what you want to do in life or what you want to have, they plainly say with budding hope in their eyes "I want to go to MIT, then I wanna join a Multinational Company and Become a big player in that company", They forget that we have an implicit duty of making others happy, helping the sick and lighting the lives of people, why can't people talk to helping others in life? Why only MIT or MONEY OR ANY OTHER BULSHIT. GROW UP PEOPLE, REALIZE.

"Inspirational"
1 August 2009
I have always believed that Robin Williams was an amazing actors with a lot of variety and depth. This movie enhanced my belief in that. I won't tell the story, for the film is best watched then explained, but I can describe you something about this movie.

I watched the movie on Television. What started as a dull, boring night was to transform. The movie was not just going on, it was taking me with it, it was capturing my smiles in a 12 mega pixel camera. All courtesy Robin Williams. He is the head of the film, and he is the leg too. He played the character perfectly, blending emotion and laughter in right proportions to create a believable performance. Forest Whitaker, is good as the side kick, with his expressions being right all the time.

But what stands out about this film is that this film succeeds in not being partial to America, nor is it partial to Vietnam. This movie creates sympathy for both Americans and Vietnamese, and we take no side at last, left to think what is good or what is not!

Watch the movie. It's good.

Brings out the child in you.
23 June 2009
I remember watching this movie when I was a child. I was a great fan of animation movies as nearly every child is, so I was very excited about it. And, I have to say that it has exceeded my expectations in every possible way and knocked me out of the ring. The concept of toys talking when humans aren't around caused a certain excitement in me, I was happy that toys were alive, I was a child again without knowing it. The characters are so well designed that one gets intensely attached to them.

Especially Buzz Light Year, when I was a child I dreamed of wearing a space suit and traveling in space with a jet pack at my side. And when I saw Buzz, I was totally surprised at how my thoughts of a super hero were projected into reality. And Woody is a great character, the Mr. Popular , the guy next door, call what you may he is that. And the rest of characters are equally good. The story itself looks very wonderful on the screen.

Although the movie starts off as a feel good comedy for kids, it ends exactly in the opposite direction. It gradually turns into an epic adventures touching the heart and marking a smile on everyone's face. Great Movie.

Like Meditation
4 June 2009
I am from India and my family and friends are lovers of English Films, they are also good critics and have a stern opinion which can seldom be changed. I had heard from them about Sixth Sense and that this movie was made by a person of Indian ethnicity. I decided to watch the movie and see how it was. The movie was broad casted on a television channel, and I started watching it with my family. It is really joyful experience when you watch a movie with your family, the shrieks, the laughs etc make you more involved. And that day while watching the movie my family was all silent, they were thinking inside, they were so involved that their eyes were not blinking but were filled with all sorts of emotions. It was really like sitting in meditation.

And at the end, when the twist is revealed, I was shocked to the core. I was at loss of words for few minutes and then I became very cheerful as I just saw the movie which I which so fulfilling. It was a journey into the world of brilliance. The boy acted so well that he deserved the Oscar. Bruce Willis was excellent. M. Night Shyamalan did a very good job transforming words and thoughts into a world of reality.

Brilliant Movie.

I Agree.
3 June 2009
I agree that Truman Show deserved an Oscar. I agree that Jim Carrey deserved it. And lastly I agree that the Academy is mental sometimes.

This movie is a combination of good comedy and great story. The story itself is so refreshing and thought provoking that one find this movie in their mind for a long time. I felt the movie was intensely spiritual and absolutely hilarious, you can actually relate the feeling of Truman to ourselves, the blow he gets when he realizes that whatever he thought was real wasn't, not even love...And how someone is shaping his life according to a predetermined story. The path Truman chooses, i.e to find an answer and escape from the unreal world, never giving up, is what is truly remarkable. It gives a message without boring us.

This movie is a landmark for Hollywood.

A Heart touching Movie
2 June 2009
There are some movies which make you smile and cry at the same time(I didn't cry). This movie is that sort of movie.

The movie starts with an old man telling the old legend of Water Horse to a couple. The story relates to a boy, who lives with his mother and sister. The military just takes over their house during the war time, and the family is forced to live with them. This boy finds a small shining stone and brings it to his house and in the morning after the stone was brought, the stone is not there, instead there are pieces of it, and there in that room a small creature is present. This is the Water Horse. The child takes care of it without raising the suspicions of his mother, but the creature grows so huge in so small time that he is forced to drop it back in the ocean.

The relationship between the creature and boy is shown well in the movie, covering all the emotional angles with panache. The direction is consistent. Although it may not blow your mind with excitement, it is a calm movie which makes one think of the nature of man. I would recommend it.

Certainly not as bad as the reviews go.
28 May 2009
After having seen enough bashing of this movie, I watched it, after watching it, my impression was "It's good, enjoyable". I had a chance to watch it again few days back and this time I felt that this movie is nearly not as bad as the reviews portray it, it's good people leave aside minor logics.

The story is quite famous so I don't go into it. The movie is shown as a direct account of a person who gets immersed in this chaotic incidents of violence. Aliens attack, and the main concern is to protect the family, his children, and this movie depicts his feelings and thought process. This is kind of a personal or biographical movie, and it does what it means to do- that is to develop characters. Showing some spectacular graphics and gore, this movie scores high in that department.

Some people have been disturbed by lack of small logics in this movie, but when we get engrossed in this movie then it seems trivial. Of course, you may not rate it or see it as compared to some of the Masterpieces Spielberg has created. And considering the combination of Spielberg and Tom Cruise, you would not have expected nothing less than another E.T., but get real pals, we don't get E.T. often, not even from the genius of Spielberg.

Very Inspiring Tale.
13 March 2009
Dead Poets Society.

I usually sleep at 11.00 at night, and I was just about to sleep, when I saw a movie with a bunch of school kids, I like movies with about schools, teachers etc. I watched it for few minutes when Robbin Williams was suddenly introduced as a school teacher, and then the movie became a fun ride full of inspiration, and engaging. I kept watching until the movie was finished, I just couldn't stop watching the movie, for it was "magical" literally.

The tale is about a school, teacher, and students. A school filled with traditional, unattractive, depressing teaching methods. Discipline is of highest value, and where discipline is nothing but bashing students until they stop thinking creatively, just to make them High Earning Zombies. Until one day, a teacher(Robbin Williams) comes to this school, as an English teacher, and tries to defy the traditional methods of text book teaching and encouraging students to think creatively, think freely. And then the tale continues in which Robbin Williams inspires a bunch of boys to a level that they truly discover and stand by what they want to do. "Carpe Diem"(Seize the day), thats what its all about.

Acting wise, Robbin Williams is just amazing. The bunch of boys do so well that one falls in love with their characters. Everything else is absolutely awesome.

A Path Breaking Movie, you will like it. 9/10.

A Breakthrough for Bollywood. Something to think about.
11 March 2009
Swades is the story of Mohan Bhargava, a man working in NASA. Mohan is actually from India, and comes to USA for his career. In the busy of work he forgets totally about India and his people there, and it takes few years before he feels that he is neglecting his people, especially one woman who has brought him up when his parents died. So he decides to go to India and meet her. Her name is Kaveri Amma. After going to India, he inquires her address, and finds that she lives in a small village. So he embarks on that journey. In the village of Charanpur she lives, after going to that village and meeting her, he decides to stay a few days there and take her back with him.

In Charanpur, Mohan discovers his culture, rejoices the festivals, gets along with people. But he also discovers the problems faced by the villagers, the frequent power cuts, the caste divisions, the poor conditions of people, children working for food, and these problems shake him mentally. Instead of willing to help people in the village, he goes away to US, for his work needs him. But in US he cannot stop thinking of India, the thoughts of India haunt him day and night, until he decides to quit his fabulously luxurious life and come to his country , to this small village and help the people there, and live there.

Artists performance, Shahrukh Khan gives one of his best performances ever. Other cast has less to do, for this is a biographical sort of movie, but everyone does good. Direction is original, and inspiring. Other Departments do a good job. Especially the Theme Song by AR Rahman is very good.

Although this movie is a great fare, yet it could not be a big hit at the box office. For this movie has no glamor of Bollywood, nor a dream world of damsels. This movie depicts the conditions of India, the story of Indians.

You would like this movie very much, unless you are addicted Bollywood type Masala and glamor.

Perhaps the Most Efficient Movie ever made. Good, seen better.
10 March 2009
Jamal(Dev Patel) a boy from slums, by chance, gets selected for Indian version of "Who wants to be a Millionaire?", and destiny chooses him to be the next millionaire, one wonders, how is it possible for a boy from slums to answer all questions and become a millionaire, but "IT IS WRITTEN". Slumdog Millionaire is a story of a boy, Jamal, who is born in a slum in Mumbai, then is chased away from the slums. He then meets Lathika(childhood love), they get separated. Then Jamal searches for her, and this search leads to a journey which is both dangerous and miraculous, yet is so engrossing that one cannot blink while watching the movie.

Made with a small budget of $15 million, and yet possessing some of the most brilliant screenplay, music, cinematography, to make a final product that is a valuable piece of art and yet a very distinct movie. Yes, it is Slumdog Millionaire. These days when big bucks are needed to make a movie having great music, sound, effects, big stars etc. We wonder some times whether money is simply wasted sometimes on a particular scene or movie. Like for example the new "Superman", which had the bucks but not the quality. Slumdog is exactly the opposite of Superman, Slumdog has no bucks but all the quality. This movie is an example of how efficiently money can utilized, how well a movie can be made with a small budget. Maybe, for this, and more, it deserves an Oscar, or even more.

Direction is mesmerizing, Screenplay is very fresh, Cinematography is brilliant, Music is situational and wonderful. Every department scores full marks.

Go for it, for it is Plain Magic, that's all.
