Troll (2022)

Good old fashioned fun
3 December 2022
I had no expectations when I started watching this movie. And I must say I had no idea the trolls were so big! Nothing like those cute little dolls I used to collect as a kid. That being said this was a fun movie. A fun old-fashioned monster movie. No special effects that are too exciting. Just fun suspend belief and enjoy it. I can't believe all these negative reviews.. What were you expecting? It's just a fun movie with a different topic. My favorite part is driving through the city with the troll skull on the back of the pickup truck. Hilariously fun. If you want just a fun popcorn movie I recommend Troll.

Where do I begin
26 October 2022
I can't believe anybody gave this film a positive review. I read them and thought okay I'll give it a try as I frankly never heard of the film. But love Elizabeth Taylor and this was her in her prime. But oh my God what a waste of two hours of my life! Not only was it the weirdest movie I've ever seen. But so poorly directed. Jumping around from here to there no continuity what a mishmash. I'm just amazed that anybody would give it a positive review. I'm sure Elizabeth wished it had been burned. And I'm sure Mia Farrow feels the same way. And I don't blame them. What a waste of film. I cannot give it any lower of review than one star.

Boring.... definitely not scary
2 October 2022
What a waste of time. Once again I fell for the hype and thought I might actually see a decent horror movie. Was I ever wrong. There were more laughs in this movie than actual scares. Every scene was predictable. The cuts were very amateurish and special effects were definitely nothing to write home about. It was all I could do to stay awake. I'm so surprised that some of these reviews actually think this movie is scary. It makes me sad to think what a low threshold they must have. If you want to see a scary movie go back and watch a rerun of jaws. Or Night of the living Dead this movie is more comedy than horror movie. Save your money. I wish I had.

Simply Dreadful
29 August 2022
Just finished seeing the movie and there's two hours of my life I wish I could get back. What a horrendous waste of time. I too was fooled by the trailer and thought it might at least be an entertaining vampire movie. But no! So much woke so much reverse racism it was sickening. And as far as the horror part ...it was non-existent. I found myself laughing much more so than cringing from horror. Maybe cringing from what a horrible movie it was. Honestly when I see something like this I just can't understand how things like this can get made. Who puts the money up for this dreck? What a waste of time for all concerned. Please save your money and stay home.

Great entertaining popcorn movie
28 August 2022
I stumbled upon this movie and I'm so glad I did. Great entertaining fun movie. We won't remember it a year from now but definitely worth the watch. The good guys win the bad guys lose ....nothing wrong with that.. very entertaining. Stallone is great. Back in form. I don't think I've ever enjoyed him this much since the original Rocky. He's terrific. And the little guy is excellent. Great little actor. If you're expecting some oscar-worthy movie with a lot of message. This is not for you. If you just want to be entertained and be happy at the end this is a great movie to watch. I'm so glad I did.

It's a Comedy
19 March 2022
Hard to believe that so many people do not "get" this series! It's not a drama. It's a comedy. A very funny satire or send up of the whole Dateline/2020/48 Hours true crime shows. The acting is hilarious. Spot on. And the best part is the voice over work by Keith Morrison.

Finally a movie for the REST of America
4 October 2008
This movie is everything I had hoped it would be - and more. After being constantly subjected to the pervasive far left bias of Hollywood, we finally see that there really ARE some sane people left on the West Coast. Thank God that Mr. Zucker "saw the light" and became a "born again Republican". I also used to be a member of the Dark Side but came to my senses after 911. This movie speaks to the rest of us who actually DON'T hate our Country and DO realize that we are at war with Islamic Terrorism.

The acting was flawless and spot on. Outstanding was Robert Davi as "Aziz" - the head wacko terrorist. People forget how wonderful Davi is at comedy and he truly shines in this role. His "looks" and "double takes" milk every laugh from some already funny lines. I hope this multi talented actor will be given some more comedic roles in the future.

But in the meantime, do yourself a favor and see him in this film and enjoy a truly GOOD film - for a change!

The Dukes (2007)

Davi Debut Delights
7 November 2007
Having followed Robert Davi's career for some time, I was not at all surprised by his usual excellent performance in his new film, "The Dukes". The real surprise to me was his deft handling of the directorial task. As a first time director, one might expect to find fault with his efforts. On the contrary. The movie is a seamless, professional product that is extremely entertaining.

Another unexpected surprise was the beautiful singing voice of Mr. Davi. Although I was familiar with his opera background and had heard snipits of his singing before ("Goonies", "Amazon", "Wiseguy") I had no idea that his versatility extended to the "doo wop" genre. One can only hope that we will hear more of this side of the multi-talented Davi again in the future.

I hate to use words like "old fashioned entertainment" or "refreshing" but "The Dukes" is both. Without being maudlin or sentimental. It will have you laughing one minute and then tug at your heart strings the next. As Davi also wrote the script, he should also be given credit for the overall tone of the film. How unusual these days to see a film that doesn't have the obligatory "F Bomb" in every other sentence. And - no exploding cars! Or nudity! It really is a film that the whole family can watch and enjoy.

I congratulate Mr. Davi on his wonderful film and hope that it will be released soon so that the rest of the Country can enjoy it (and so I can see it again!)

Davi is a Stand Out
17 June 2003
Roberto Bernigni takes over the lead in this last installment of the Pink Panther series. Unfortunately, his sweet, childlike persona is more reminiscent of the great Buster Keaton than of the late Peter Sellers.

However, a stand out in this rather uneven film is the great Robert Davi in the supporting role of "Hans". Again cast as the "heavy" of the piece, Davi brings an effective comic timing to the role of "Hans". So often taken for granted as the perennial "tough guy", Davi shows that he can also play a comic heavy and milk the laughs for all they're worth. Especially effective are his scenes with Bernigni. As Bernigni overacts and proceeds to chew up the scenery, Davi gives a cool, subtle performance. His reactions to the buffoonery around him elicits more laughs than the over zealous Bernigni.

This is still an enjoyable film but does make one long for the brilliance of Peter Sellers. Still, judge it on its own merit and enjoy it for the wonderful performance of Robert Davi.

Hitters (2002)

INTENSE DAVI
12 April 2003
I recently had the pleasure of viewing "Hitters" at the Palm Beach Int'l Film Festival. This film is brought to life by the smoldering performance of Robert Davi as "Nick". From his early scenes of controlled rage to the final denouement when he takes revenge against his enemies, this is a true tour de force for this skillful and under utilized actor. Especially effective is the scene with his enemy, Vince, when Nick's "playful" slaps suddenly turn deadly. It is a pleasure to see Davi in a role that he can really sink his teeth into and show the depth of emotions that he is capable of. He is truly a screen "presence" and holds the audience's attention from beginning to end. I certainly hope that other producers will take note and find some more worthy roles for this very talented actor.

The rest of the cast gives Davi excellent support and combine to make an exciting film experience. There is even some amusing "comic relief" provided by the talented Frank D'Amico.

This is a an excellent film and a "must see" for all fans of the genre.
