The Tunnel (2011)
Intense and Very Satisfying
The story itself would probably just around 40 minutes in length to tell, but and the rest of the movie are supplementary content that a) adds back-story to the movie and characters, b) fills in spaces to add suspense and heighten the intensity of the scare, and c) additional stuff added just as a "commentary" to what's happening.
The first part just drags on too long in my opinion and could have been shortened. The rest of the movie however was the best of it. It will not leave you unsatisfied by just seeing just a short glimpse of the "whatever's down there" like Cloverfield, but rather there are several short shots that can actually scare you and prove that too little and it does not work, but many little stuff will work than showing everything.
I can honestly say that I just had to watch this another time because I was really happy (and scared) about the movie. And for the second time I watched it, the intense part still got me even if I already knew what's going to happen.
I'd really say, this is a must watch. Although, somewhat generic in plot, but I can say this really had some though in it's photography (kudos to the DOP) and great use of making our minds work and imagine. Really really happy with this. Only 8/10 because of the kinda dragging start.
Battle: Los Angeles (2011)
You'd feel like you are actually there, too
Even without the fancy 3D gimmicks, the way they delivered and presented most of the film felt like it really pulled you into the action and be part of it. It's probably because of the hand-held/amateur video style, but unlike other hand-held/amateur (or so called "cloverfield camera") style films, such as Cloverfield and Paranormal Activity, this film still looks back to the real way a feature film should be... and that is to be cut at the right camera angles... The unique thing is that they put normal camera and cloverfield camera styles together properly.. which makes it very pleasing to watch.
OK, more on the plot. The story had it's own twists, although kinda predictable, I think it was still well thought. At one point you'd say, "That guy will definitely die" yeah, he will.. although, after that you'll regret you thought he'd die because it was just sad. And that's awesome, because normally, if you know someone's definitely gonna die in a movie, you don't feel compassion for them, but in this case, you will.
From time to time, you'd say "Is it done?" but no, it's not yet... There's more! It's like, they want to feed you with things you actually expect or know will happen, but with some twists and turns which makes it awesome.
The main actors were also very excellent in acting, I think they did very well here.
The sound effects and music was also well thought and well produced/mixed. It gives you the real feel of what's happening.
Over-all, everything is put together nicely and well made. Oh, and expect some surprises along the way... I would highly recommend anyone to watch this.
The Courier (2008)
It's a good short film
The story and acting was great. For an indie, the effects are on average but could have been better. Nonetheless, the story it is creative. I could say that the film deserves a worth recognition. The main actor is also worth to note that he did an excellent job and that I do think he was well suited for the role. Costume design was good. But as I did say, the 3D effects could have been better. I don't have much to say anymore without spoiling the film to those who hasn't seen it, yet. But I do recommend to anyone to watch this films since it is creative and funny.
Also, I like the title intro and the ending. I also liked how you guys managed to add in a few realism in this scifi such as the inverted gravity.
Inception (2010)
A masterpiece that everyone should watch
I simply can't express how great this movie is! The concept was very well done and executed including how they managed to effectively visualize parts of the concept. They were also able to sum up the core ideas at the beginning which aids the viewer in understanding how the rest of the movie works. It may seem like a brain workout, but it's not. You need to learn the simple base concepts to understand the movie and that's it. If you further delve deeper then you'll see the true beauty of this movie and how it's complexity provides a stunning experience you simply won't find in any other movie. There is great respect for both realism and the dream part where you as a viewer could also feel how intense the movie is. The movie is a definite must watch.
This movie is for everyone! And I would really want everyone to watch this! If you ask me, I'd watch this over and over again....
P.S. I liked the concept very much. However, with how great this movie is, please don't make any sequels. A spin off should be fine I guess but no sequels please.
