Foundation (2021)
Lost me quickly ...
... it might look good, expensive and glitzy, but all too soon the insistence on destiny sounds, catchphrases of wisdom and so on begins to feel pompous, and on the whole uninspired ... I watched the first episode, then jumped around a tad, and found no surprises. Decided I'd rather re-read the rather inspired originals by I. Asimov ...
Dune (2021)
Pretty emptiness
Certainly lots of great effects and such things, but ultimately incredibly boring ... and it didn't help that many scenes seemed to be recaps of older sci-fi-films, including the 1984 Dune. Just watched that one again; while by no way a great movie it is daring and thought-provoking, while this one appears to simply want to produce awe. No thanks. Touch Me Not (2018)
Undecided ... but worth a discussion
I am on the fence with this one. I could say that it brilliantly exposes deceit and vanity, and wouldn't be that far off. I could call it an honest, if flashy and sometimes arrogant, exploration of failed intimacy on a pedestal, and I think I'd have a point there. I felt at times that it was indeed full of vanity and self-importance. Since, luckily, I didn't see the movie on my own, and saw it without knowing anything about it, I found the experience led to an interesting conversation. In the end, I'd say it was a so-so movie, but a worthwhile experience.
