True Grit (2010)

Exactly What A Film Should Be!
22 December 2010
Just came back from seeing "True Grit." Now this is the kind of film that the average person goes to the movies to see. It was amazing, highly entertaining, suspenseful, funny, and had a great story line. Jeff Bridges was fantastic, as was Matt Damon. Josh Brolin was good too, the only problem is I didn't get to see enough of him. He is definitely an up and coming actor that I hope to see more of. However, the best acting in the entire film was done by Hailee Steinfeld. Hailee plays the role of Mattie Ross and she is incredible. She really is 14 and held her own with the likes of Damon, Bridges, and Brolin. This film was an excellent western and comedy. There were several times that the theater was filled with laughter. I will definitely see this film again and may even purchase the DVD.

I Don't Understand All The Hype....
22 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I honestly don't understand all the hype about this film. Natalie Portman plays a psychotic, delusional, spoiled brat who flaps her arms around like a "swan?" Many are saying her character loses her mind during the course of the story but the fact is, her character was already lost before she was given the role. I found this film to be depressing and filled with what amounted to an adolescent crying and pouting about her inadequate performances. Portman plays a psychotic quite well but it does little to hold my attention. We are transported back and forth between the delusions of her character and what might be reality. It becomes boring and predictable at best. Maybe the lesbian sex is what the public loves about this film? In the end, even this is a delusion... This film works hard to entertain but I found it to be froth with whining and predictable presentations of delusion.

The Maze (2010)
NOT A-MAZE-ing Terrible, Terrible, Terrible....
4 November 2010
Warning: Spoilers
One of the positives about this film is the fact that I only heard 2 swear words. Honestly, I can't state any other positives. The film is painfully slow, the characters are painfully stupid and the psychotic killer, who can't be stopped by grown men, is easily pushed over by women half his size. He runs like the wind but can't catch a man carrying a woman. If you enjoy people walking through a corn maze at tortoise like speed, by all means, watch this film. I've never actually seen too many actors walk by rocking side to side, as if to simulate walking. One of the male characters is so helplessly weak that he basically lies down and dies rather than run through what must be impenetrable walls of corn. Corn must be made out of brick now since no one considers veering off the path to escape. This is probably the WORST film I have ever seen and I've seen a lot of films... I'm nearly 50 years old. A-MAZE-ing-ly terrible.... OUCH!

Much less than expected
10 September 2010
I watched this last night and found it to be disappointing. I was expecting some good special effects and encounters similar to the Exorcist. None of that takes place in this film. The premise and plot are original and could have resulted in a good film; that is not the case. There are no anxious moments, no terror, no seat grabbing moments. It's almost like a pretend documentary. The title alone offers much more than the film produces. I did like the original delivery of the plot and new faces that I have never seen before. Other than that, there isn't much to see. The film barely stays alive and ultimately flatlines in the end. I would avoid this disappointment.

Absolutely Terrible
28 August 2010
Evidently, movies have become so pathetic that the "F" word has to be used in excess, nudity has to be splattered all over the screen, and well known, decent actors have to debase their talents by "acting" in this crap. From the very onset, this film attempts to lure the viewer with stupid naked women. Evidently, women can't lure a man anymore without showing all they have in public. Again and again, and again. I was hopeful that this film would be a decent remake, but in fact, it was pathetic. I found myself hoping the piranha would start chewing on people so I didn't have to see their fake boobs and listen to the overuse of the "F" word. Surely people don't actually talk like that in public, around elementary school children as portrayed in the "film?" Please, don't waste your time or your money. This is a plot less, pointless, soft porn blunder that fails to produce even the smallest drop of tension, drama, or fear. I miss the days when women had some self respect and men treated women with dignity. I guess this film demonstrates that all women are is meat to sleep with and all men are is brainless, sex starved idiots. YUCK!

I'm a little perplexed??
21 July 2010
I had high expectations for this film since Liam and Christina were cast members. Unfortunately, I'm a little perplexed as to why they would be a part of this garbage called a "film." I can only suppose that the actors must be short on cash. This film was little more than a poor "B" movie that had Ricci walking about nude for most of her part. I've always considered her as the "Johnny Depp" of female actors. She often chooses cutting edge, in your face roles. This film is definitely in your face, but for all the wrong reasons. Liam should be embarrassed for participating is such garbage. The plot is high school level and completely predictable. There wasn't any suspense and watching Liam talk to a naked Ricci, for most of the film, isn't enough to capture my attention and it shouldn't be for anyone else either. Pure junk.

Airline Disaster (2010 Video)
Worse than made for TV
3 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Since this film didn't have a viewer rating yet, my expectations were low. Unfortunately they weren't low enough. The special effects were the poorest digital effects that I have seen ever, in any film. The jet is shown several times and it is obvious that the shots are digitally created. I cannot fathom why shots of a real airplane weren't used. Several mid air shots capture the plane without windows and several shots show it without color. The acting is atrocious and I knew the film was in trouble when I saw the name Meredith Baxter. The plot is full of holes and the lead female hero is able to battle and defeat men twice her weight and size. Tense moments of the "film" are highlighted with drumbeat music of the 70's. Many of the actors stutter or hesitate when stating their lines and several other actors overact or don't know how to act at all. Please avoid this, worse than made for TV "movie."

I hope this movie isn't a reflextion on reality...
30 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I just spent a couple hours struggling through this cinema of confusion. I kept waiting for the film to get better but alas.... it never did. Stiller plays a confused, disillusioned human being and that's exactly what overwhelms this film. It's depressing, distressing, and grievous to watch minute after minute of pointlessness. Do women actually give themselves up to complete strangers without protest? I certainly hope not... and I especially hope they don't give themselves up to the likes of Ben Stiller's character. Stiller's character continually abuses everything that walks on two legs... I can't imagine that anyone would maintain a friendship of any sorts with such a knob. Please... do yourself a favor and spend an evening donating blood or volunteering to be a human canon ball before you waste any time watching this garbage... terrible. Absolutely terrible...

Terrible
17 April 2009
2 bit actors attempting to look as though they are being filmed without their knowledge. I was expecting actual footage of events with people being seen stealing, etc., without their knowledge. This was just terrible. I have no doubt that the average American is captured on camera several times a day but this film exploits the concept and does so VERY POORLY. Don't waste your time watching this trash.... You would be better off doing something constructive like sleeping. The only positive thing I can say is that the actors are complete unknowns. This lends "slightly" toward the sense that we are watching people captured on store security cameras, gas station monitors, ATM's, etc. Other than that....pure garbage. The only thing you'll want to do if you do watch it, is take a bath.
