The Social Network (2010)
The Amazing tale of FACEBOOK..well a tale anyway
This film was without a doubt genius. I am an avid user of Facebook and really enjoyed knowing the history about something that I use pretty much every day. Although with the way he was portrayed in the film it made me HATE MARK ZUCKERBERG and not even want to use his product. But since I make movies myself I know that even when telling the truth about something it can be ENHANCED shall we say.
So it starts off with probably the worst date I have ever witnessed. He basically calls his girlfriend an idiot and not pretty and that he is better then her. She politely dumps him and tries to leave before he gets things heated enough that she has to be nasty.
He then goes back to his dorm, gets drunk, writes a horrible blog about her and then creates a facemash site with his roommates. It got tons of hits and he felt better about himself. Kinda douchey way to go but hey, he got out of an expulsion.
So then these rich twins and their friend find out about what he designed and they have an idea. They want him to be the program writer for it and approach him. Well because he always seemed to feel like an outsider, they were part of the exclusive clubs he wanted to be in, so he says yes. To top it off, his BFF Eduardo had been approached by one of those "CLUBS" so he wanted to be part of the IN CROWD too.
So he gets going on this and then begins to think he can do it even better and WITHOUT THEM. After dodging them for a while he makes.....FACEBOOK.
So things are going good til they decide to sue him, but he is so into thinking he is the best he ignores all that and gets involved with the NAPSTER guy Sean Parker (Played by Justin Timberlake, who I can say gave a fantastic performance.)
So it all goes badly, and the lawsuit goes on. He screws people over left and right and then has to pay through the nose.
While we have all heard tales like this a million times, the performances of everyone and the way the story just flowed so fast it was a fantastic film! Go see it, and then in the words of my friend Mike, GO INVENT SOMETHING!!
Orphan (2009)
Scary film, greatly acted, and enjoyed every minute!
This film at first was something I did not want to see. I am adopted and I really thought it gave adoption a bad name.
That being said I have finally seen this film tonight when it came to the dollar show by me. I figured if it did what I thought it was going to do and make adoption look bad I wouldn't be mad losing a dollar.
I was amazed by this film. It actually shows the dark side of family life as it is today. A lot of families probably go through some of the things this family went through though not all at once.
The girl who plays Esther did such a remarkable job I cannot wait to see her in something else.
Although I wanted to strangle the parents through most of the movie for being such idiots in life and not deserving children to begin with it makes you think Thank god that isn't my family.
Made me wonder how some people even get through the system and end up able to adopt. Those people should have NEVER been able to.
GREAT movie though and the twist I NEVER saw coming. I thought this was just an updated version of the BAD SEED. But NOPE BAM! SHOCKER! Definitely a must see! I did see a family bring 3 kids who looked about 14, 12 & 8. DO NOT BRING ANYONE UNDER 16 YEARS OLD. It is rated R for a reason people!
Melrose Place (2009)
HUGE dissappointement
So I grew up watching the original series. It was never a masterpiece but always entertaining. So when they said they were remaking it I was intrigued. I already think the new 90210 is alright. Not as good as the original but OK. I geared up for the pilot tonight thinking hey it's gonna be pretty good right?
Good lord, it was awful! I sat through an hour of what? Nothing at all. The plots were pathetic, the acting was just alright and even the small cameos by a couple of the old cast didn't help. I was disappointed to say the least.
I truly hope they can do a much better job, because if the rest of the show is the same dribble, it will be canceled quickly.
I mean COME ON who is going to pimp themselves out for medical school by some jerk they just met 4 hours before?
And the resident "BAD girl" could they make her any more pathetic? I even happen to like Katie Cassidy but the character was just bland. It was like watching a 12 year old trying to be a bitch. Give it up already.
I really hope the writers went back to the drawing board on this because it was really bad.
I Know Who Killed Me (2007)
Seriously?
This movie was a COMPLETE waste of my time. I have enjoyed Lindsey Lohan's performances since the Parent Trap. This was a LOW even for her. You could see she was coked out half the time when the stripper scenes were going on. The torture scenes were so unbelievable I get more gross out factors watching NIp/Tuck then from this.
I figured out she was a twin and that the piano teacher did it the second the first girl was killed and her finger fell off. DUMB is all I can say.
WHen it was over I just sat there in disgust thinking WHY did I not go with my gut instinct and NOT rent this from netflix. UGH
Please do not waste your time with this film, there were some great actors in this but because of the script every performance just fell FLAT.
Poor actors are now stuck with this on their resume, thank god there were huge promotions for this film due to Lindsay's mess ups, it would have just been embarrassing for them all.
The Other Sister (1999)
Wonderful Acting comes as a surprise....
I have seen this movie a few times and always liked it. It is one of those that always brings a tear (or more) to my eye. I rented this flick because I wanted my Fiancé' to see it too. He is not the type to watch Romantic comedies and really enjoy them but he enjoyed this. One thing we both had to comment on was how Superbly Juliette and Giovonni pulled off their characters. That is not an easy part to play and have it come out realistic. I for one was pleased to see Juliette portraying something other than a skank in a film. I have loved Giovonni since he was on the NEW Leave it To Beaver show in the 80's.
So this was a refreshing love story and also let you see how a family trying to handle this situation, even with tons of money still go through difficulties.
My fiancé enjoyed this film too and we would recommend it to anyone who just wants a break from movies filled with explosions.
Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999)
Loved it!!!
I love this movie!!! The first time I saw it I was confused and thought it was a documentary about pageants. Then I realized it was a comedy. I laughed so hard during most of it that I missed things and had to go back and watch it. My favorite character is Hank, the paint huffer. Will Sasso played that so well. I love during the Camera interview when we first meet the judges and Hank is all like "Are we on Cops?" Harold tells him to go away and Hank continues leading to a slapping fight and then right after he is back to huffing. Then he ends up with the store in the end and covered in FOIL. I just thought it was so funny. And when he is taking his pants off during the interviews. I also loved the Accents, I thought they did a very good job on those. All in all this film is very entertaining and I recommend anyone who needs a good laugh at something most people make fun of anyways (PAgents) should watch this at least once.
