The Second Time Around (1961)
Delightful Western romp!
I remember seeing this movie at the theater and thoroughly enjoying it. I would very much like to see it again and cannot understand why it is not available. I loved Debbie Reynolds, of course, but Thelma Ritter as always is truly splendid as are all other cast members. Steve Forrest is a handsome romantic lead with Andy Griffin and Juliet Prowse creating a colorful background. The whole concept of a very proper young Boston widow with two adorable children trying to make a new life in the West working as of all things a ranch hand makes for most enjoyable entertainment. Why is this movie not available for purchase on DVD?
The Way She Moves (2001)
Tremendously enjoyable
This Sunday afternoon fare was very good indeed. The music, dancing, and representation of Hispanics in a positive light and not as the usual gang member, drug dealing, etc. was refreshing. It reminded one of the need for courage to be yourself and to follow your own dream not that of someone else. As to the actors, Kamar De los Reyes is quite the talent. His sensitivity and display of frustration not to mention his DANCING! What can I say but that his solo at the festival was incredibly beautiful. I would recommend it to anyone of my friends and will do so. Hope to see more of Senor Reyes in a leading role. Bring on the music!
Susan Slade (1961)
Wonderful girl flick
I saw this movie when it was first released. It was a "must see" because my cousin and I were such Troy Donahue fans. I felt it was wonderful and would like to see it again - often! However, it is never shown on television and I have been unable to get information regarding purchasing it either on VHS or DVD. Please help! Perhaps it is a bit soap operaish but who cares. It is the kind of thing girls loved in 1961 and now that we are older, we like to remember by watching the same movies we saw back when.
