Cinerama Holiday (1955)
Nostalgia At It's Best
A wonderful look at high technology in filming in the 1950s. Looking much like the wide screen formats of today, the three camera and stereo sound effects must have been a wonder to those audiences looking a scenes around the world with the huge movie screen curving around there head.
Power of Silence (2017)
Promotional Video For Faith Healer
The video seems to be entirely a promotional piece for Braco, whose real name is Josip Grbavac.
Born in Zagreb, Croatia, in November 1967 he appears at public events, standing on a podium following a ten-minute period of introduction, and silently looks at members of the audience for a period of five to ten minutes.
The video is found on YouTube and utilizes romantic music and many scenes of water, children, and old folks along with "testimonials" of typically older people who claim to have been healed while watching Braco gaze. Most scientists would probably attribute any "healing" from Braco's gaze to either coincidence after the body heals itself naturally after a time, or a placebo effect from a belief that Braco has special powers, which are alluded to in the movie..
The video probably is of interest to those who are distressed, in pain, or ill and hope to find some way to relieve their difficulties.
Secrets of the Mountain (2010)
Movie Saturated With Walmart Ads
This movie was a total waste of time for me. I only watched out of curiosity to see how many product placements Walmart put in the flick and how goofy the dysfunctional family could be.
The amount of Walmart food products, milk, cereal, tote bags, etc., labeled prominently with the Great Value brand label was amazing, especially in the beginning. (Walmart was the commercial sponsor for the TV airing when I saw this.) Notice the Walmart tote bag displayed in one of the beginning scenes?
The constantly bickering dysfunctional family was not a good role model for the teens who might enjoy this movie. And then a sudden break- through to family happiness and togetherness at the end! Give me a break! How realistic is that! Not to mention the improbable storyline about Aztec hidden treasure, and even a pyramid in the mountain. The overly melodramatic music background also was a distraction to enjoying this one.
The Juggler of Notre Dame (1982)
A Must See For All At Christmas Time
I made a VHS tape of this excellent movie around 1985 and have watched it each Christmas Eve as a reminder of the gifts we all have, but sometimes don't realize our talents. I believe this film may have been a TV Christmas movie special for several years in the 1980s.
This film is a must see for anyone, especially good for a Christmas Eve family showing. I've noticed the title on my copy shows only 'The Juggler' and wonder if there might be confusion when people look for this film as apparently the correct title is 'The Juggler of Notre Dame." A search on IMDb will not find it when searching for the abbreviated title.
I notice all the reviews here are positive and I agree completely. A great movie with a great message. I fail to have dry eyes at the ending each time I watch.
